This restaurant screams memories and comfort food. It has been around for decades at Deer Run Plaza serving up honest home cooked HK Cantonese fare at fair prices for very decent portions. They are especially famous for their steak dinners served on a sizzling hot plate with gravy poured on top which creates the sizzle when it hits the hot iron plate. Like I said before...HK comfort food. The sizzling steak combos which includes soup, a warm dinner bun and potato salad are a great deal. Otherwise they have a wide variety of Chinese/HK dishes to appeal to a wide range of tastes. If you are in the mood for HK/ Cantonese food, they will probably have that dish that you are looking for. The owners are still the same and the menu remains the same as well over the years. Times have changed, but sometimes we need a place to remain the same to bring back warm and happy memories of our favourite days gone by. I have been here so many times that I can attest that their consistency is spot on. This is a HomeRun Grand Slam into the bleachers in Wrigley Field !!! Please give them a try and let us know what you think.

Came here because we had a craving for Hong Kong food. Really disappointed in the end. The tea, which everyone agree, is the most important item if you relate yourself to a HK cafe in anyway. The tea is extremely weak, more like tea flavoured water. I ordered a bowl of noodles asking to change the type of noodle (common option any HK restaurant) but was told it was not possible. Then after being served the noodles, the waitress told me it's actually possible....and that I can do that next time. Don't think there will be a next time. Overall the food is meh. If you have a craving, there are better options out there.

My go-to place when I'm feeling really hungry and I can't decide on what to eat! A great place for a large portioned meal and a really good price. Only downfall is that it's a little rundown but if you can get past the appearance, you're in for a really good treat! Another problem you might encounter is that service is not the typical that you would get at another restaurant, but I'm okay with that because I go to many Asian restaurants and it's accustomed for them to leave you to enjoy your food. Me and my partner's regular order is an order of baked chicken in cream sauce, mussels in cream sauce, and a combo special of sweet and sour pork with chicken fried rice. Their cream sauce is to die for! I recommend that you at least try that out.

Update: afternoon tea is now until 5pm on weekends. And also their milk tea isn’t good anymore. A childhood favourite. Always came here growing up in high school and even after now that I’m married and live in Toronto, whenever I’m back in the area, I would visit this place, especially for 宵夜 (late night snacks). They have a really good priced late night snacks menu. A few of my favourite dishes is their baked pork or chicken rice (I usually prefer the red sauce), their black pepper diced steak spaghetti dish, their cream sauce fillet rice dish, and my all time favourite bolognese (there’s something about theirs that is super yummy and the carrots are always sweet). Honestly, I don’t venture out of those dishes because I crave it so often.

I have been going to this restaurant for 9 years, I can honestly say in the last 2 years’ prices have gone up and quality has gone down. We called in the order first simple chicken chow main and chicken wings. I was told 20 minutes, I got to the restaurant to have to wait another 15 minutes I was given my chow main and had to wait another 10 for the wings, by the time we got home the chow main was cold and had clumps of white clear gel, it was hard to eat so we ended up throwing it out, as for the wings they where not cooked fully and those went in the garbage also. We both woke up in the middle of the night with major stomach pains. I will never go back to this place and would never recommend it to anyone.

I rate 4-star to this restaurant because their menu covers a great varieties of food that anyone could easily find a favourite item. As to the food quality, I would say it is average or 3-star. Service is kind of casual and friendly. The great thing about this restaurant is that you can almost have anything on the menu and make it a set meal option with soup and coffee/tea. You might want to try it yourself next time when you are in the area.

Used to be good - they've increased prices (fine, I understand inflation), but they won't allow choice of noodles. We usually order the seafood fried noodle from the 'after 9pm' special menu, which always came with chow mein (crunchy noodles), but the new menu has seafood rice noodle - when we asked for the chow mein noodles, she said they don't allow noodle choices anymore because the kitchen gets confused...but then she told us we can order it from the regular menu. How does that make any sense? Anyway, we were regulars, but will never go back. For good Chinese - go to Macy's down the street on Burnhamthorpe. Service there sucks but their food quality and choices are much much better.

I’ve been to this restaurant multiple times. However, was extremely disappointed on my last visit. It so happened that the table behind me had ordered the chicken with spaghetti and tomato sauce and I had ordered the chicken with rice with tomato sauce as well in which they mixed up on the orders. I also saw her out hot sauce into it. They took hers back into the kitchen and a few minutes later gave mine. After eating about half of it I realized that I have received the other ladies dish that had hot sauce in it. I’ve enjoyed my previous visits here but unfortunately will not be coming back.

Western food meets Eastern food. Updated 10/16/22: Still some good value here, consistent post-pandemic, especially when ordering from the white laminated dine-in menu - includes a HK style tea or coffee and a soup with certain dry entrees without a soup base, although it is only written in Cantonese. Prices up everywhere, but not as much here. Accepts VISA, MasterCard - didn't notice if they accept AMEX. However, they are CLOSED MONDAYS - may want to check later after this post if they changed this.

A good option for a HK style casual restaurant. Decent food and good value. The place doesn't have the cleanest vibes & bathroom but their food is good and offers a good value. You get lunch combo with soup, cold drink and main dish for about $13 and the sizes and quality is decent. They also have the pick 3-6 dishes dinner combo which is good for dine in, note that take out combo doesn't come with rice and soup (included only with dine in). Accepts credit card as of Aug 2022.

This restaurant is one of the few Hong Kong cafes in Mississauga. The food was quick, delicious, and great pricing; menu hits all the comfort food categories. Extensive menu available for lunch and dinner. Serving staff were very quick and you could easily be in and out in under 45 minutes. Seating was comfortable and tables were clean and in good condition. Bathrooms were not the cleanest. Overall great for quick eats!

I know it might sound weird but we love this place because we are happy with the perfect amount of saltiness! We often get salty food when dining out, but the food here was not salty at all, just like home cooked food with the perfect amount of salt. Good for health! The portions were so good we actually packed the leftover and saved it for dinner as well. The menu is huge so you have a lot of options. Loved the experience here and we will definitely come back! 非常有利于控盐的餐厅!菜单品类丰富,量大价平好味❤️

Service was ok, however very disappointed with the food. I stopped to get my favorite dish from Chili chicken house and unfortunately they were closed. I decided to try this restaurant for the first time and was looking forward to having a delicious meal but was very disappointed with the taste and quality of the food, to the point that I COULD NOT eat more than two spoon full and my wife's stomach started hurting after she ate some of hers. I would never go back there and would not recommend this place!!

  • San T

We have been bought the food from here. Taste always good and always the same. We ordered the beef hor fun and fried fish with bean curd. We got the Hor fun very fast but the other dishes came very late after we finished the Hor fun. Hope next time they will served better. The servers were very nice and friendly.

Horrible service. I sat there for 10 mins and did not get served. The main reason is they only have one girl managing the whole floor with cashing out, taking orders and bringing food to patrons along with take out customers. Granted that it's not super busy, the poor girl is pulled in multiple directions. No fault to my waitress, blame goes to the management of this restaurant PS. This place needs to be renovated. It has looked the same since 1998.....

  • Danny Kim

Food is very good. Service is a bit slow and there might be a bit of a language barrier. The only thing that I did not appreciate is the fact that they serve hot beverages, such as the tea, in a plastic cup. Other than that, I would recommend getting the baked chicken with tomatoe sauce or mushroom sauce. The Cantonese Chow Mein lacks sauce but is quite plentiful. A go to would be the beef with black bean sauce rice noodles.

  • Nikkie Li

Dish quality depends on the chef of the day. Based on the same dish, there's a 30/70 chance of getting a good dish and a dish that contains non-fresh ingredients including MEAT THAT HAS GONE BAD. Service wise, the waiters are friendly; waitress doesn't have any smile on their faces anytime whatsoever, doesn't matter noon, afternoon, evening, or late at night, they always give you a nasty look as if you owe them fifty bucks.

  • joey huynh

Have been coming here since I was a child with my family, recently my boyfriend and I have been ordering their sizzling steak special which we find to be a pretty good value for 15.95. They start you off with some bread and you can choose between either tenderloin or sirloin, it comes with a fruit salad (this is alright), soup (choice of cream or veggie), a side (rice or spaghetti), and a drink (coffee/tea)

  • shallbeyou

I would probably give this place a 4-4.5 out of 5. We have ordered take out from them several times and they usually don't take too long to prepare and pack your food. Usually the food is pretty delicious but there are some odd days where the food is not as good (probably depends on who is cooking that day). Our family always enjoys their rice dishes.

I go to this restaurant frequently, but I've only had the curry beef brisket with rice and the baked ham and chicken (along with other dishes that I can't fully remember), so I can't judge the menu in its entirety. However, from all the dishes I've tried, I can't think of anything bad about the menu. (The washrooms are cramped, but that's not really the fault of the restaurant)

  • Victor Hung

Long time customer for the past decade - pretty decent Hong Kong style diner food. Average quality but consistent. Service is dependent on how busy they are. Specials start after 9PM - if you are a first time visitor I would recommend the Baked Chicken with cream sauce over rice - pretty much never fails. Their Sweet and Sour pork is also pretty good. Stick to the blue menu.

  • Gabriele Forneris

The worst dinner. Absolutely gross pork with bones and not edible stuff. We were both sick, unacceptable quality. Zero stars ***update April 5th*** they did not pass health inspection!!! Cross contamination and pests the main reasons. Avoid this place, you will get food borne poisoning.

Probably the best HK style diner in Mississauga, and one of then best in the GTA. Much better than the chain "Phoenix" restaurants, with great classics and quality cantonese foods. My go-to is a chicken cutlet in cream sauce with a milk tea. Can't recommend it enough, always have great service. Obviously it's a bit run down, but that's all part of the charm.

  • Robert Lo

Surprise that this restaurant could still survive in this highly competitive environment; daily soup is cold, HK Style Milk Tea is watery, the Baked Ox Tongue Rice is barely above 60C. Taste is subpar comparing to the nearby Chinese fast food. However, there are lots of repeated customers and the service is good, may be it is just not my cup of tea !!

  • Herman Poon

Phoenix Chinese Restaurant had been a regular restaurant I go for the last 10 years. The taste is good. Although you may not find the most outstanding renovation in the cafe. Serving majority of cantonese hk cafe style food, this would be not a bad choice. If you want a quick bite, this would be a place you consider. The photos show the combo lunch.

  • Elizabeth Hill

Baked chicken for late night menu!!!!! Always a craving! The only thing is they may be a little racist.... They have a "late night" blue menu after 9pm but only give it to Chinese people, unless you ask. However service is very fast. Pricing is amazing. Great quantity AND quality. Very rare to find. Pro tip: definitely always ask for the BLUE MENU!!

  • Michael Sherman

I ordered for the first time last weekend, and it will be the last. Horrible General Tso chicken meal. The chicken was so overcooked that it was impossible to chew, and the fried rice was more like burnt rice. As soon as I opened the box lid I could smell the burn. I couldn't be bothered to return it so I just threw it out. What a waste of $.

  • angela C

It’s my first time here last night. I would say it’s not the typical Chinese restaurant. They have baked menu and it’s delish. To make your order a meal, you just add a reasonable price and you get: a soup, baked escargot, and coffee or tea. Pretty neat and it comes one by one. The serving of the food is good too. Definitely worth the try.

The restaurant decor itself is a little dated and unkept, but the food itself is some of the best HK Cafe-style food you can find in Mississauga, and even Markham. Their baked dishes are good and the baked ox tongue is some of the most tender that I've tried. Look past the looks of the restaurant itself to the food.

  • Kristin DiCintio

Great food, decent value picks, and generous portions for the price, however I've received poor service 3/5 of the times I've recently been here. Staff are always friendly, but they rarely check in with your table, no water or tea refills unless you tag down a waiter or waitress, and slow service.

Decoration is a bit old, washroom can be more clean. However, the food is of reasonable quality and price. It is of Hong Kong style food. surely can try if you like to have a quick bit and not getting regular fast food. The usual gender specific washroom, not too wheelchair accessible.

  • Deanna Park

Looking for cheap greasy Chinese food? Phoenix is the place to go! The food here is Okay, but their long hours make it convenient to go at night. After 9 they have their special menus with cheaper option. I would recommend the baked seafood on rice. It never disappoints.

  • Brenda Nguyen

Ordered the Lobster special dinner here. Soup was cold and bland when it came out. The sauce for the chicken was too salty, the vegetables were decent, the lobster was bland, and the fish was bland. Overall, not a good experience. The place reeked of cheap beer.

Pretty good Chinese restaurant with traditional Chinese food as well as Hong Kong style Western food. Food quality is consistently good, portion sizes are large, service is good and prices are decent. One of my family's go-to Chinese restaurants in Sauga.

  • Heidi Adia

An all time favorite and guilty pleasure. A great Sauga restaurant that stays open late therefore a great spot for you and your friends who are still awake and hungry. My favorite go-to dish is the baked chicken spaghetti WITH RED SAUCE and hot milk tea.

Great fast Chinese food. Hong Kong Diner. Cash and/or credit only. Usually get set menu (soup, bread roll, escargot, tea/coffee/milk). Very tasty! My first time (like 8 years ago?) I thought the food was weird. However, we really like it hear; cozy.
