This 19th century defense tower made for a nice short visiting location. The tower is about three stories tall and you get almost full access to the structure. The large canon gun is up top, quarters and storage are down below. The entry level has exhibits and artifacts to look at. They also have some items you can handle and even costumes to try on. There are displays that give further information for the various parts of the building. The condition of the structure is impressive. The structure isn't very large, so you won't be there for very long, but the price is reasonable for the size of the tower. The area around the tower is nice. The ground around the tower is up high relative to the water. You can also get right down to the water quite easily. This helps make for a few nice photo opportunities. I will say that I saw a lot more trash hanging around than I am used to seeing at Canadian sites. If in Kingston or driving by, it is worth a trip. I would not recommend coming from a distance however just to see this. Three adults, one small child for $12 helps take this 3 star attraction (due to the brevity) to 4 stars.

Great little museum for able bodied visitors, three floors, awkward stairs and confined spaces. Nominal entry fee, but SUPER-COOL access to a maintained Martello Tower with an intact cannon, that provides a great perspective on 1840's Kingston. Smaller groups only, it is a small museum. Suitable for children who know not to touch artifacts.

People throw their garbage into the moat around the tower, making it unsightly and dirty. Put up netting to prevent this or get park staff to clean it up maybe. There are plenty of garbage cans in the area, but they were also crammed full so not really preventing the filth. The area used to be much better taken care of.

Great little piece of nicely preserved Canadian historical architecture. It’s technically free to get in but they take donations (suggested is $5). NOTE: there are 3 levels and the stairs to get up or down are very narrow.

A true treasure for Kingston and Canada! This well preserved Martello Tower tells the history of defending Canada in the mid-1800s. With three levels to explore and many displays with full descriptions, enjoy an hour or more at this must-see attraction!

Great little museum with a lot of history and fun facts. Definitely take up on the free tour guide option. Jimmy who was out your guide did an amazing job and made this a very informative and enjoyable experience. The surrounding area is very beautiful as well!

It is always good to visit a historic site and then explain to your kids about history, why it was put that location, why the cannon is pointing to the lake, how it is constructed, etc. Good to spend time with family. The surrounding park is also very nice.

We had fun doing the private investigation activity with haunted walk...the place is haunted warning I would give is don't insult them they may show up but they were very interactive in the building and wanting to socialize with us …

Tower is open from Victoria Day to Labour Day. There is no way to change this on the review page. Can't even verify as a business because the mailing address is different then the Museum address. -Director, Murney Tower Museum

A very educational experience as it provides a realistic glimpse into the life of a 19th century soldier in Upper Canada as they defended the shores of Lake Ontario from potential American invasion.

It's a very cool area to explore. It's not very big and therefore does not take too long to go through.

Unfortunately was closed for the season so we could only see the outside. It would be nice if it had stayed open a couple weeks into September instead of closing after labour day.

Make sure you book your tour ahead of time right now. The pricing is all on donations, so contribute what you can, and enjoy this great snap shot into the past!

Good place to visit. Doesn't take long to go through. Would be helpful if opened longer (I understand only open July and August)?
