Midas Car Service: High prices on replacement parts and non-performed services - They charged me $ 362 more for replacement parts than the market value. - They did not perform the engine wash service as they told me (and who knows what else) - They did not comply with the committed times. My experience in detail: I came to live in Sydney from Melbourne in June, so I was looking for a reliable mechanic to service my car, the only previous owner was a rental car which always did the maintenance with his logbook. Two local friends recommended Midas to me, they trusted the service they offer at an attractive price ($179). I scheduled a visit for a Friday, but they called me to leave it on Wednesday at 8 am, they told me they would have it ready at noon. At 2 pm I still didn't know anything, I called and they told me they were just going to scan it (I took it early and lost my morning for nothing). At 3 pm, Moe calls me and tells me that the car, apart from the service they performed (oil and filter change), throws errors in coil no. 4 and that therefore he recommended me to change all of them, and that I also needed to change the brake fluid, and it dictated the following service values: $ 88 Brake fluid (include "free" wash) $ 136 "Platinum" Spark plugs (4 x 34 ea) $ 476 Coils pack (4 x 119 ea) $ 66 Coils/plugs replacement service charge $ 120 Cabin filter replacement (or pollen) $ 179 Service (Oil & oil filter) My father is a mechanic and I know that platinum plugs are high quality for extra life and therefore more expensive. I asked him if I could change them for cheaper ones, but he said no, they were "special" ones that my car used and had no choice, so I agreed. I had already thought about changing the cabin filter and I knew that its cost is only $15, the change is simple like adding gasoline (it is removed without tools from the passenger side feet) so I said that I was not interested, And as I was urged to have the car to work (as a food delivery man) I had no choice but to tell him to do the work to have the car to work as quickly as possible to work. Moe told me he would be the next day, "early morning". The next day they told me just at noon that the car was ready when I went to pick it up, Moe attended to me and asked him which "Platinum Spark Plugs" they had put in, he changed the story and told me that "they were not platinum, but that a little longer than the normal ones, and that's what they called them ". How his answer caught my attention, I asked him about the brand of the coils to which he replied "I have no idea, I don't remember", being that he himself requested the spare parts from a supplier the day before. Finally, I asked him to deliver a ticket with the details, while he was doing it he told me that they had supposedly changed the cabin filter and done a "free" engine wash, and he gave me an additional discount of $47. However, I cannot give myself any details other than the brand of spark plugs (NGK) that he himself wrote on the ballot. The same week the battery in my car died, when I went to buy the new one I realized that the engine had not been washed. Since it was the second lie after the spark plugs, I quoted the parts (with the VIN number, so the recommended parts for my car) and they were all much cheaper, Midas charged me an extra $362 for the same or worse parts. Upgrade: A week after publishing this review I was contacted by the franchise's Support Manager, who, concerned about improving my experience at Midas, offered me a refund of the $ 362 difference in spare parts; good post service from the franchise.

I dropped off my car in order to get a quote for a blue slip and a few repairs that would be required for the slip. It's an older model and I initially said I only want to have a budget repair, and do the bare minimum in order for the slip. The team had my car for 4.5 weeks and I had to call 3 times a week in order to get updates at which point I'd be shaken off the phone by someone who "didn't know what was happening with it". After realising that I was not going to go through with the full suite of repairs, my calls were no longer returned, and I'd only asked to have my window (which had the electronic component broken and it was stuck down) to be manually put up as the only work done on the car. The day the window was put up I was called at 4:30pm on a work day and told I had to pick it up before 5pm that day as they no longer had room for it in the shop, and if I did not it would be put out on the street with the key on the tyre for me to pick up when I was available. After organising a friend to pick it up they picked up to see that the entire interior of the door had been pulled away and not re-attached with the screws thrown onto the seat and was told by the mechanics they wouldn't reattach it as they were closing soon. Im utterly appalled at this service, as soon as the team realised they were not getting a large bill out of me they maliciously targeting my car giving it back in WORSE condition after 4.5 weeks of having it. I cannot tell you how grateful I was for the experience I had at this garage. Every year, I dread getting my car serviced as I never trust what I am told, and always seem to pay a fortune on the service when I am told that the car didn't need anything done. Last year, my car left another garage in a worst condition than I took it in . The car camera wire had been cut and the wires were left exposed and sticking out, the light that I asked to be fixed was not fixed even though I was charged for this, there was a random bit of plastic thrown into the foot-well that I had no idea where it had come from... and I still paid a fortune and have no record of it in my log book so am now left with a gap. The gentlemen that looked after me at Midas Woollahra on the 10th and 11th June were friendly, professional and fair. They helped fix all of last years problems (or pointed me in the direction of someone that can), done a thorough check of the car and called me to let me know of any work that needed to be done before they carried it out. They were so kind, and I felt confident in what they had done. I know this seems like basic service, but I have been getting my car serviced for 10 years, and this was the best experience I have had with one. I normally feel quite clueless and intimidated, and just end up paying a fortune for work I have not agreed to. I will definitely be returning to and recommending these guys. Thank you so much again!

Brought in my old Camry to service for the first time here with a feeling of being ripped off by the guys at East Gate 6 months ago. The first staff fixed my flashing back light in a minute for free upon booking. Another mechanic even noticed me looking for a cup to get water and brought me one while he was on phone. I don't have mechanical experience enough to justify their conclusion on my car. But from that hospitality I know I can trust these guys. After all they charged essential fees for what they did. No bullshit shocking quotes. Just wondered why they asked to bring the car in by 9 am but only serviced it in the late afternoon?

Midas Woollahra were awesome. Mo was very transparent with all of the work that my Jeep required and I felt pricing was fair & reasonable. I went in for a service and had just hit ~50,000km so there were some parts that required replacing etc. The work was all completed within 24 hours (including ordering the bespoke parts & labor). When I needed my brakes fixed as well as a full service, I chose Woollahra Midas because Moe doesn’t make me feel stupid for not knowing anything about how my car runs. He calls before doing anything because he listens to me when I say what I can and can’t afford. Most of all, my car’s repairs are always done above and beyond the average mechanical repair level. If you don’t go there, you’re doing your car a disservice. Midas knows how to take care of your vehicle like it’s their own.

Back in March I was visiting the SCG for a conference. I returned to my car and realised my tyre was flat. I had a small window of time in between sessions, so I thought I’d try to get my tyre fixed somewhere nearby. I called Midas and they said to bring it straight in and they’d take a look. Driving through eastern distributor my flat tyre emergency light went on and had to immediately lug my car to Midas at 530pm on a Wednesday.
