Awful experience ever at Masala Kitchen Lane cove. We had dinner there with nine of our friends on my recommendation on last Saturday 25th December. For entree we had tandoori chicken and fried ocra. There a live cocoraoch in one of the fried ocra baskets. The young girl who was serving us was very apologetic and offered not to charge for that dish. We decided to proceed with our main meal and when it was brought to us the food was not cooked properly we could see the uncooked chicken in karahi chicken dish and the potatoes in the mixed vegetables were hard and raw. This was my second visit to this restaurant. The first time we had a pleasant experience. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The whole experience was great. There were parts of its lacking but I loved the lunch out there! They have a great range of mock tails and cocktails, Loved the Spicy Mango Margarita and Lychee Sour. The Entrees were so good! We usually do not like Vegan food but that Kale Chaat was amaze! Naans were fantastic especially the Cheese and Garlic, The Lobster Tail that we wanted so bad was not available but we tried Mumbai Prawn instead and it was pretty good, heavy coconut taste but good! The Biryani was okay, the Butter Chicken did not hit the mark, just too sweet. Overall : Felt great!

Went here to dine for dinner on a Monday, The entrees were decent but took very long to arrive, the portion sizes were a bit smaller than expected, The waitress suggested the butter chicken was a must try, we asked her if it was sweet and she said it was on the sweeter side. We requested that to be made a little spicer and to that she said she can give us an chili chopped on the side to make it to our liking. The butter chicken came and it was the worst one I have ever tried, just tasted like tomato paste and sugar, As we billed, they had charged us 1.50 for chopped chili( the chili that was served might not even be an half chili) and no price was said when we were told we would be served chili. Worst butter chicken at masala kitchen lane cove and a very poor dining experience

The food here is good, but not enough options for vegetarian. Only two dishes in Paneer. Additionally, no entree in Paneer or good options for these too. Naan is good and curries are also good but not enough options. Additionally, if you order something after food in between, they take too long to get it to you. I ordered a coke after we got our meal, they got it after we were done with dinner. We went here the very next day again and I asked for salt, which we never got. The person whom I asked for salt, came to our table again to ask if everything was good after sometime, but our meal was finished already. They need to increase vegetarian entrees and dishes as well as improve service rather than just coming to table and asking for “how is everything “. My review might change depending on my next visit.

My wife and I used to love Masala but our relationship with the restaurant has now become quite toxic. After a poor experience with both service and food, we decided to retry the restaurant, and again, the service was underwhelming and the food was average at best. Tonight was the final chance for Masala to redeem itself, but unfortunately our expectations were once again crushed by a butter chicken that bordered on tomato puree pasta sauce from woolies and an average cheese naan. I fear this is the end for us and Masala. If only the restaurant could return to its succulent, creamy dishes of June 2022, the golden age. Until then, we wait.

This review is based on 3th Oct 2023 Dinner. The restaurant closes at 10, but the kitchen closes at 9 itself, and the music was stopped at 9:44 itself even though customers were having dinner. -Chilli paneer - taste is Good, individual paneer size is big, total quantity is very less. -Chicken 65 wings - very very oily, taste is bad. -Kadai Paneer - taste is good, more capsicum in the curry than expected. -Veg fried rice - no masala, no salt, no spicy, too plain... -Butter naan - okay -Garlic naan - okay -Vegan roti - too dry And it is odd to bring plates 5 mins after you bring food.

Last night me and 3 friends ate here. 3 of us vomited today including myself, and one left with bloating and abdominal pains. This was the only meal I had yesterday so it definitely was the culprit. Service made several mistakes and not all done by the same person. Overall a shocking experience and will not be back. A real shame because a couple of the dishes were tasty, has real potential for a restaurant. Unfortunately I can't see myself ever coming back.

The food here is absolutely fabulous. Great cocktail menu also. Good value for money too. The only downside is the service is a little slow and one or two staff were not very helpful and got a couple of items on our order mixed up. But despite this minor inconvenience, I'd definitely go back.

Have tried this place before in world square already knew the food is good but service is pretty average here specially when you address a problem and they try to come with an excuse. I ordered a vodka with splash of soda and couldn’t really feel a strong drink just told them casually that is that 30ml? And they were like yeah yeah but can’t really taste it. I know my drinks always order it and get good results and charged me 12 dollars then menu prices. Pathetic

I would come again and again for vegan butter chicken! The samosas were also deliciously crispy on the outside but could use a touch more chutney (but that’s just my preference!). Servers tonight were very attentive.

Not your typical Indian restaurant! It's VERY modern and has a mouth watering menu. We particularly loved the Lobster Curry, the Lamb Cutlets, and the Barramundi Fish Tacos. Our vegetarian friend had lots of options and their favourite dish is the Pinwheel Samosa. The 'gin inspired' cocktail menu can't be missed! Our table of friends all had different cocktails and each one was beautifully presented and delicious. Try 'The Beautiful'!

Ambience and decor are great. This is a perfect place to enjoy drinks. Drinks are good value here. You can get a pint of beer for $10. Lots of unique Cocktails too. Food is very average though. We ordered a sambar and it had a layer of oil on it. Ordered a bhatoora and it was drenched in oil. The rest of the food was also very average. Would suggest you eat your meal elsewhere.

I wasn't expecting much from an Indian restaurant in Sydney's North Shore until last night. Masala Kitchen in Lane Cove was impressive from a multiple points of view. Firstly, the atmosphere, secondly, the friendly service and lastly, the food. Happy New Year! Thanks for a wonderful time Masala Kitchen (Lane Cove)

Very modern take on the classical Indian restaurant. It has a buzz about it, bright, airy and comfortable. Expansive bar adorns the interior. Staff are courteous, meals are served efficiently with good time between entrees and mains. Very good range of food and vegetarians are well cared for. Quality is excellent and food is well presented, see the pictures to appreciate it. Highly recommended.

Continues to deliver an innovative take on Indian cuisine. Staff are ever obliging and they seamlessly and professionally compliment the quality that comes from the kitchen. You might pay a dollar more, however, as an example, lobster tail curry for well under $40 is rare in any restaurant. Sitting on the outdoor terrace on a balmy Sydney Summer evening is something not to be missed.

We just had lunch there and the Lunch special “Thali” was excellent and on point! I have high expectations with Indian food having visited India quite often for work and the lunch was excellent - fish curry, lamb curry and chicken curry. The lychee gin cocktail was also excellent. Highly recommended for overall experience food, ambience, service and drinks !

10/10 all round. I tried their Thali last week and it was delicious! Reasonably priced for a generous portion and extremely tasty. Great value and service. The only thing is the opening hours they open at 12pm but on their store front and google it still says 11am. Thank you so much Masala Kitchen for a wonderful meal. Will be back soon.

Ambience was great , the vibe was good. But the sad thing food was not as expected . The only good food was dahi puri other than that it just waste of money. We tried their biryani , famous Goat curry; it left us in disappointment. Over priced , definitely not recommending !!

By far the best restaurants I've tried in Sydney for modern Indian cuisine. 10/10 for presentation and spice levels toned according to the crowd with little comprise on flavour. Our taste buds were blown away by the flavour and out hearts won over by the exceptional friendly service from Dr. Non-Boss (Anna) :)

Thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class run by the charismatic Bhavna last Sunday at Masala Lane Cove. The culinary tour was interspersed with historical and cultural insights and occasional but respectful mother-in-law jokes. Bhavna was lively, funny and entertaining. Oh, and the cooking, the cocktails and gin were great too. More

Delicious food with good service. The okra in the okra stir fry was very fried and might have been tastier if it was a little less fried. The puri had a yoghurt liquid inside and was good - very filling. Absolutely loved the Mumbai prawn curry. Restaurant is in a lovely location at The Canopy in Lane Cove.

The service was good and the food was excellent, full of flavour and the curries were just right in terms of texture. The naan was a little bit too sticky though.

This place is one of the new and exciting place to dine or socialise in Lane Cove at the Canopy. Masala is a great concept which serves an amazing List of delicious cocktails and samosas . The other food items on the menu could be improved. We will back for more cocktails. …

Food was pretty good, Butter Chicken and Rosemary Lamb Rogan Josh were great. However, I will say that the service here is appalling. Took a while for someone to come and take our order, they didn’t know the menu very well when I asked some

Just had a really lovely meal. I don’t eat Indian very often because my local area does not have many restaurants nearby, but today I was travelling and thought I would give it a go. I usually would stick to a single dish that I know well,

  • Izabela Milczarek

Had lunch special. Food less than average, bland; one of my items wasn’t available so I got a replacement without being asked if that’s what I wanted (there was plenty of other choices). Wait staff doesn’t pay enough attention, had to ask

  • Namay

The food here is pretty decent, but it's not worth the price or the wait times. The portion of the dishes is way too small for the price and the wait times are too high ( it took 25 mins minimum for food to arrive ). The steamed dumplings

Awesome food coupled with great service, interesting crispy okra fritters with tangy sweet tamarind dip, the goat curry and palak paneer was authentic and full of flavour, enjoyed the attention, staff checking if everything was ok, live

Food was amazing, very good price and butterchicken has to be up there with best in Sydney! Highly reccomend this place in beautiful lane cove. Thank you for great customer service and a good night of food with my partner and her dad.

  • Aasish Joshi (AJ)

Such a wonderful place and ambience but disgusting food. At least try to live up with the expectations people come with. Too much salt in chicken. Entree was good though nothing wrong with it. I would give credit to the ladies though

  • Brian Hu

Lunch deal is a good portion - includes three curries, naan and rice for $25. The fish curry was but the palak paneer didn't have much taste. Chicken biryani and chicken tikka was SOLID.

First time to eat Indian food, amazing ! I love it because it’s no use hand like people told me actually, you can try any kind of dish without any inconvenience! …

Been here a couple of times now and food is excellent. Recommend the goat curry. They also have an extensive drink menu if you’re feeling inclined to try lots of cocktails.
