The arrow points to a side entrance to the park at the Highest Point In Edmonton, aka Southwest Highland Natural Area, aka Magrath Park (which properly refers to the developed area with the superb recently-built playground at the base of the hill on Magrath Boulevard). Southwest Highland Natural Area is a glacial kame, 716m at its southern end, and offers a beautiful view of Edmonton to the east, west and south, and Whitemud Ravine to the southeast. The area was used as a lookout point by Indigenous hunters tracking the movement of bison in the ravine and river valley. The north end of the kame (above the playground) is a great tobogganing hill.

Such a special little park with a beautiful nature getaway at the top of the park. Colors of autumn aster very long here and as a photographer, I appreciate the extra time I get here to photograph families. Nested in the middle of the Magrath neighborhood... access to this park is very convenient. It’s also very safe and you get good visibility of your loved ones when you’re at the park.

I live nearby and love to visit this park. The forest that is nearby actually leads to the highest point in edmonton, as marked by a handmade plaque. Top of the hill adjacent to the park is also great for hanging out and watching the sun rise or watching downtown at night. Also very good for games of pick up soccer and frisbee!

Love this park. Good variety for young and old at the playground, beautiful hill with a view of downtown as well. Great for tobogganing in winter, and a big field for ball games in the summer. Has a gazebo for shade, outdoor chess boards and barriers to prevent kids from just running out on the road. This is a great spot.

Great park. Rock Climbing structures, slides, monkeybars etc. Gazebo with a couple of picnic tables. Great forest behind a field for scavenger hunts and walks with dogs. Field for sports and a toboggan hill for the winter. Parking available on the road. Portapotty and greenshack onsite.

Great little park, not busy, has a picnic area with a gazebo and a picnic table with wheel chair access. I also liked that the park made it harder for little ones to get to the top level, making it safer for toddlers. They also have a smaller park designed for younger kids.

Separate small structure for toddlers, larger structure for bigger kids. Nature style area with rock and log type obstacles to climb. Some areas are sand, some areas have wood chips. 2 picnic tables under a gazebo. Open field behind for playing frisbee or catch or tag.

  • Kira Kovi

Nice place to visit, has some Harry Potter diners and a fortress for the Harry Potter fans out there, also has an outhouse for bathroom breaks which is a neat thing I think! Little park, big field behind, and picnic tables to sit down and eat/visit!

  • Gavin Cheng

This park is nicely designed. The play structure has a large variety of activities suitable for kids ranging from toddlers to pre-teens. A nice picnic area. There is a slope behind the playground for winter activities in winter.

Lots of different pathways outside the main path. The parking can get busy quickly, and today there were a few photography sets. Can't blame them! It got pretty packed and the trails were busy on our way back to the car.

Great playground. Lots of space and good equipment. Beautiful surroundings. A little too close to a busy street, but still a good experience

  • Catherine Tays

Nicely maintained park with a good field area and a big hill that's popular for sledding in the winter. Backs onto green space with trails

Tried to go there to have a picnic with my nieces, we ended up having to leave as we were swarmed by 100s of wasps...
