Nov 18 It was 5pm after a long teaching day in Montreal. My friend recommended me to go to this “amazing” Boulangerie. We drove all the way from Westmount to there. The server didn’t want to speak to us in English. When we asked kindly to sit and eat there that it was our first time there, he said in French (which we fluently speak and understand) that we can’t eat there… “only take-out” because he is closed. I checked the website, the place is open later. After us, other people was allowed to eat there. I couldn’t believe the level of sadness and disappointment. I felt discriminated. What is wrong? We went to the restaurant next door, had our diner and the Mei Matinale is still opened now (in the time I am writing this review) What do you think? The other reviews could be excellent but the way we were treated is utterly unacceptable! I wish every person is fairly served in the future in that place.

I love this place. The food is excellent, the owner is a good humoured guy and I always have a good experience here. I love the cozy décor as well. The owner always speaks to me in French which is something I really like, as it helps me to practice, and doesn't revert to English just because he can tell I'm an Anglophone. The bathroom is nice and clean as well. I usually get the lunch special which is a sandwich, soup and can of pop for 12.99. I also am a big fan of their cherry squares! Pictured is the Ham and cheese croissant. Everything is SO yummy. I'm very glad that this is my local café and pastry shop. 5/5 stars every day of the week, these guys do just a fantastic job. Keep it up! x

8$ approximativement!

I went there today for a muffin and cafe, muffin was not completely cooked. My husband told the man at the counter politely and in French, and was told that he baked them 50 minutes and that we were wrong and it was perfectly cooked, no apology or offer to do anything else. What kind of restaurant does that I wonder? Not satisfied and I won't go there again

Wow just wow. I had overlooked this place the first few months in the neighborhood. It's rather unassuming on the outside, but it's a fantastic cute little shop. Their baguettes are amazing and their sandwiches are simple but the ingredients compliment their delicious bread well. Give the trio a try! The tomato ministrone was generous and deliciously hearty!

We take all visitors to Montreal to this delightful bakery/restaurant. A shop with its own personality, and excellent food. The antithesis of … McDonald's for sure, and of Eggspectation - sorry, Eggspectation. More personal than La Passe Compose - which gets five stars for other reasons. Much more than a meal - a pleasure.

  • Ray Hiltz

The ambience is cozy and very distinctive. If you like Dalida and have a taste for 60's, 70's french pop, you'll love quaffing a coffee and patisserie inside. I always take home some bread. It's the best in the village. The owner, Régis is a character as are many of the regulars. This is not Premier Moisson.

  • Seb H Miller

A dazzling gem of a place- I come here often for their soup and sanwich combo on my lunch break and it never fails to satisfy my cravings! They have a variety of patries and other goods and the staff is incredibly sweet. I always look forward to my next visit. Cash or debit only, they also do meals to go.

  • Christina Kung

Randomly walked into this cute cafe after seeing the clever name of the place! Immediately was drawn to the muffins, freshly baked, still in their baking tray! They had beautiful, big muffin tops so grabbed a double chocolate and a carrot one to go. Looking forward to eating these tomorrow morning!

  • Christophe Debruyne

A very cute little place we've stumbled upon while staying in Montreal. Staff is lovely, the pastries are delicious, and the place is a tribute to the gay icon Dalida. Minor is that they do not accept credit cards, but we luckily had some spare cash left and the interior/vibes made up for it. :-)

  • Eva Miyamoto

Very friendly owners. We randomly decided to walk in and get something to eat, our French is very poor yet one of the owners was kind enough to help us find a pastry we were looking for. I love the decor of Celine Dion!! The bakery has a nice feeling to it and great pastries :)

  • Peter D

Make sure bring canadian cash or debit (they don't accept american credit). The outdoor seating is nice. The man that was working is also very nice. There is a good selection of pastries--almond croissants, muffins, chocolate croissants, cinnamon rolls, etc.

  • Marc Letourneau

  • Farid

In a cold Montreal evening, we were lucky to come across this nice little boulangerie. The barrister was really nice explaining all the different muffin types. Coffee was very watery though. Not good at all. They only accept cash, No credit card No debit.

  • Christophe Scott

  • Discovering Destinations

Great place with a fun environment. They are fun of Dalida, a French singer and Celine Dion, with memorable pictures of them. It's a bakery with delicious croissants and great breakfast options. We had the omelet and they were really tasty

  • Marcelo Delprete

The bearded guy behind the counter is a little arrogant princess who treat customers in a very dismissive way. The coffee was ok, but the flaky pastry was rather dry and stale...I've had better pastry from the supermarket

  • N N

I can agree with what the others have stated regarding the guy behind the counter (I think he's the owner). I went once and his lack of basic customer service skills completely turned me off and I've never gone again.

  • Cedric Swaelens

It's fresh, it's french, it's delicious, quaint and cosy place. The chocolate pastries are delicious, the owner from France and the furniture comfortable. And the terrace is the cherry on the (french) cake.

  • Chris R

Fantastic bakery in a cute neighborhood, right in the village. Very kind to anglophones. Great pastries. Cash or Canadian debit only. Very good coffee. "strongest cappuccino I have ever had in my life"

  • Eli Hayter

just popped in for a quick drink and the owner is SO kind and welcoming! He did not care at all that I spoke English instead of French and he was all-round just lovely to talk to and interact with :))

Nice, laid-back and uber-gay brunch establishment! Owners are very friendly. Minor complaint - wifi did not work as expected, with network failing to show up on my phone.
