Nice sized Asian Grocery store. Great variety of items to purchase! They've got a hot meal area in the back where you can purchase many already cooked meats and various asian dishes, including sides like noodles and stir fries at a much lower price than what you'd pay at restaurants, or take-out places... and it's so great tasting, and quite time saving, especially when you don't know what to brew up at home. as well, unlike the Take-out restaurants, they serve you such large portions that you'd actually have enough to make three meals for 2 people! their prices, for some items, it may be a bit steep but reasonalbe... other items, if you know what to look for, you can find some pretty budget friendly prices for some good essential items. As for myself, practically every time I've shopped there, since they've opened, I've been having a great experience and amazement from finding the things I used to love having but couldn't find for a long time! I must say, it's never a dull moment every time I've shopped there and look forward to every time I plan on going there again and again! The people are so friendly and funny that, if you're not smiling when meeting them, you're laughing over a comment!

Today I went after work to buy 2 stewing chicken to make some stock. One was okay, but the other one was missing half the chicken(pictured). It was flipped in the packaging so you actually can't see that half the chicken was missing. Normally I wouldn't complain as it is a 4 dollar chicken after all and I only really needed 1 and a half anyways. But this second chicken also had a rancid smell to it, think rotten egg. It could be understandable that maybe this chicken was left in display too long and they haven't had the time to pull it after the expiration date BUT the packaging showed that it was packaged today 08/22 (as shown in picture) which means someone intentionally packaged rancid chicken. When you put everything together, my guess is that the chicken has rotted and to save a few bucks they simply cut out the rotted half and packaged the chicken to sell. I hope I am wrong because this is very very immoral as this will endanger the health of the families who shop here.

So convenient to have Kowloon nearby. Great variety of Asian products in a small footprint. They offer fresh fish in tanks, a butcher section, fresh Asian vegetables and fruits, large frozen food section (from desert to dim sum), fridge section (milk to sushi)... Only thing missing is the bakery (at least it is always empty when I visited) and BBQ/prepared food section. Not sure when the BBQ/prepared food section will open as they have placed boxes of products around it. Hopefully soon, which will make this a one-stop shop for Asian food needs. Update: BBQ and hot food section open! They have Char Siu, roasted pork and chicken available. They also have a lot of hot food selection from spring rolls, soups (I saw egg drop and hot and sour), to dishes like sweet and sour pork, general tso chicken, fried rice and fried noodles. Hot food/BBQ section open at 10 am to 6 pm, and closed on Tuesdays. And look at the gem I found in the frozen section...Stinky Tofu! A must try for all!

Great west end expansion on the lovely little Chinese market that’s been a Chinatown staple for years! This location is actually significantly bigger, and since it’s a new building it’s also very nice inside. The produce selection in particular is excellent, with many unique fruits and vegetables that are hard to find elsewhere. The prices are also very competitive, especially for the seafood section! The only criticism I have is that the bakery section at this Kowloon is pretty much nonexistent, as it’s only a small shelf near the back of the store that doesn’t have much to offer. Compared to the Somerset location’s sizeable bakery section with its many tasty offerings, it was a bit of a disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend visiting the Kanata location if that’s what you’re looking for.

Decent sized store huge selection of fresh vegetables and fruits. Also have fresh fish and decent meat selection. Each aisle has a big selection per aisle. Pretty big frozen section and fresh tofu and noodles too. But you can’t forgot the hot foods section. From bbq pork, roast pork, sweet and sour pork and chow mein noodles. Good prices from the combo and the bbq pork. Take a look at my photos and come try. Also the bakery items only come in on Saturdays and Sundays limited options but the bbq pork buns are a great steal, also you can purchase 6 buns and get no tax on them. Another thing is Tuesdays and Fridays are when they get their frozen and refrigerated items such as the steam buns and tofu. Wednesday is the day they get all the grocery aisle stuff.

Very disappointing and frustrated. We bought fresh salmon heads and went straight home. We usually freezer these for when we need to cook it. Little did I know that the fish was already spoiled. I made salmon stew and the smell was mortifying. I wasted my time and energy for my family dinner and had to get take out. Beware when buying fresh meat, always check the texture and smell. I cannot trust the store now and now have anxiety when buying from them. The store is also lacking of selections and lacking varieties. I’m second guessing their food and safety handling. Not that this should be reported but it might not be safe for buyers not knowing they sell spoiled seafood or meat. Labeling of these should also be clear.

I would love for this place to succeed and was very excited to finally have a Chinese market so close to home however the quality of the produce and sometimes meat product was concerning, cabbages that are smaller than your fist after peeling and peeling probably aren't fit to be sold anymore... I also saw eggplants, some Chinese "melons" that are softer than tofu... the cooked food section look dirty with sauces dripped everywhere and none of the food items look inviting. Considering the quality of the produce Ill never buy cooked food from them. The store has been open for almost a year and I found myself going there less and less often.

This opening has been long awaited for the people of Kanata. Prime location - on Kanata Ave. No more long drives to Kowloon Somerset or T&T! The plaza that homes it also homes a bubble tea and coffee shop. Very clean interior due to it being a brand new build. The shelves are slowly quickly filling in - I expected the shelves to be fully stock before the end of the week. The prices are amazing... $1.79 bags of Enoki mushrooms! Pre-rolled hot pot meat in house. Winter hot pots have never been easier. Only issue is it's very crowded, but I expect the crowd to die down once the novelty wears off.

  • Jing Lu

Finally a decent Asian grocery store in Kanata! Long awaited Kowloon Market is finally soft opened in Kanata north, in a small mall across from All Saints high school. Although they are still in the process of setting up the store, we are already quite happy with what they are offering: fresh Asian produce, fruits, spices, a live fish station, large frozen seafood and meats section, and eventually a BBQ station and fresh bakery station. Our only concern now is the parking, it’s very small and no pedestrian walkway, so be VERY CAREFUL coming in and out of that small parking!

Just look how dry this pork is. You people are already putting a bad name onto Cantonese food, just stop, all these TNT supermarkets, that other Chinese grocery store in vanier, seriously shut it down. My family all from the 80s and 90s when Cantonese food was the best at that time. Either charge higher premium prices, prep or cook the food properly or shut it down. Why Ottawa is seriously the worst hyped city to eat Chinese food. This type of meat like eating Costco or Walmart $8 dried up garbage roast chicken.

Looks Like A Descent Place For Chinese Groceries My wife and I paid this store a visit yesterday. Too early to give it a proper review but so far it was pleasant to visit. Vegetable prices seems competitive but I find the meats (i.e. eye round) expensive compared to its sister in Somerset. At least the staff (cashier lady) were very warm and friendly. UPDATE: I just opened one of their coconuts for snack and discovered the inside to be rotten! Do not buy coconuts from this location...

  • Candice Chan

Small, but well stocked chinese grocery store. I can get my staples of chinese greens, Asian mushrooms, fresh tofu and seasonings. Their meat and seafood are fresh and prices are much better than any other grocery store near by. Happy they opened in the west end. Tnt is too far to make regular visits. Only thing missing is they have not set up their hot food or bakery section yet. The bakery section looks like it will be super small. Like three tiny shelves.

  • Michel Anderson

Great location. Meat, fish and produce departments all seemed clean and the food is fresh. Comparable prices in these departments. Some of the dried goods were costlier than I am used to but overall was a good shopping experience. The only thing I disliked was how meat was organized on the shelves and the fact the meat was not labeled. Some things are obvious but others could be one of many animals or their parts. Hopefully that will get corrected.

  • Lisa Tai

Finally a Chinese supermarket in Kanata! It has your Asian staple ingredients. Currently the meat (packaged meat is available) and kitchen (BBQ meat, takeout meals) are not available since it's a soft opening. I would imagine in a month, it'll be fully functional with stocked shelves. I'm just glad that I can get more variety of Asian ingredients in Ottawa West so I don't need to go all the way to T&T on Hunt Club.

  • Bryan Brown

Today, I bought pork for the first time at the new location. Wayyy too much sauce and filler, less than half of the volume was pork. Sauce was very thin and ruined breading on the pork and made it soft and soggy. The Chinatown location was delicious and a better portion size with the pork only coated in the sauce, not drowning in it. I wouldve left only one star review if the new location wasn't so nice.

  • Ashley Wang

Glad to be one of the first customers to review Kowloon Market Kanata, it is not yet officially opened as of today Feb 11,2023 while crowded with customers already. At the moment, some items don't have price tags yet and my most favorite area - Kitchen is still under construction. Overall, great addition to the local community given its convenient location and various selections of Asian groceries.

  • Laksh Atri

Amazing super affordable market. Produce is like easily 30-50% cheaper. Best to buy produce items. Deli too is cheap. I bought like 1kg chicken for less than $5. With stuff being cheap, it also offers a lot of variety. I used to go to Loblaws and Walmart which considering today’s time are becoming unaffordable day by day. I am glad I gave this market a try. Will definitely be coming more.

  • sandie yip

Since it opened, I've already been to the Kanata Kowloon Market a few times. Every time I visit, there is always a pleasant surprise with the introduction of new goods to the public. Service is excellent. I believe that Kanata Kowloon management pays attention to its clients' needs and satisfies them. I will continue to support them and all the best to Kanata Kowloon.

  • Teresa

I'm so happy they opened this new location! Congratulations!! The owners are working hard at the register and we briefly chatted. They were very humble and I can't help but feel happy for them. Great job, assorted selection, very clean. The store is brand new and they're currently doing a soft opening. Soft openings are for sorting things out! Be supportive!

  • Rula Al-Sadiq

The first thing you will notice is the cleanliness of the place and the staff are working all the time, passed by before 3pm and after. Both times they were busy bees. The variety was good. But it could be better. Everyone was friendly. Especially the staff behind the fish tank. Informative and helpful. Definitely will go again :) You have to try.

  • 峰爺

It's small, with an even smaller parking lot in front. But I'll say they made good use of their space inside. It's a good alternative to tnt so I'll visit again in the future. Liked their prepackaged fresh fish and other meat options. Their veggie section is lacking tho. Couldn't buy any individual ginger, could only find a bag of ginger.

  • Michael Yung

Great location, new a modern design with fresh veggies, fish market and lots of asian food! The "kitchen" with the BBQ pork, duck l, roast pork haven't opened yet but I'm pretty excited for that. The baked goods didn't look like it was made on site, might be from the other location or 3rd party. Either way I'm sure it's still good!

  • Jen Brooks

Disappointed that an otherwise lovely looking store would sell shark meat - clearly not well informed on the environmental impacts of this type of fishing, and our family will not be supporting your store as a result. I encourage you and your customers to educate yourself on the environmental impacts of shark fishing.

  • Yewen Tan

It seems that they're still in the early opening phase. The choices are somewhat limited when it comes to veggies and fruits. It'll probably get better with time. Parking can become chaotic, it's best that you back into the parking spot, otherwise it's a struggle too get out. Still, it's nice to see it open in Kanata

  • Hai Vu

Basic asian market. Not as big as T&T but much bigger than what you'd find in Chinatown. Lots of fresh produce at competitive prices. Lots of dry goods. Decent frozen and refrigerated foods. Ok selection of fresh seafood and meats. Some hot, ready to eat take-out meals available. Enough parking.

  • Tarek Belghith

Kewloon kanata is just another T&T type of Chinese and Asian supermarket. You'll literally find a million of Chinese products of all types, and if course fresh Canadian produce. I highly recommend this for interested people. Reviewed by Tarek Belghith from RZ Network Inc Ottawa Ontario Canada

Good we have a Kowloon in Kanata. A lot of Asian cooking specialty items we can get close to home. The store however feels a little small and crowded. EVERYTHING is marked with bundle prices... All price tags are "Buy two = $$" Quite smart marketing...but my wallet doesn't like that :P

  • Jeff Brown

I wish they wouldn’t leave boxes lying around in the crowded and narrow aisles - seen this a few times now. Seems like there is still some work to be done around the store too, but I guess they are still working out some kinks. Glad to see it in the neighbourhood and I wish them well.

  • Vu Ha

Great Asian grocery store. They're still working on it but the produce is very well priced and great quality. The store is clean and the wet market is open, the hot bar looks to have good options for a take-away meal. Bakery options are limited compared to the Chinatown location.

  • Jimmy Li

Store now seems to be up and running, the hot foods section is up now, and they offer dishes or combos, including bbq pork, duck and whole pig. Parking lot is still a bit of a mess but that's not really the stores fault, mind the speed camera along Kanata, it's pretty aggressive

  • Patrick Lee

Such a great supermarket in Kanata. It's not huge but has almost everything you would expect from an Asian grocery store. What's more, Kowloon would occasionally sell some special seasonal product at an amazing price. It has definitely beaten my expectations about it.

  • C

Good prices on vegetables and fruits like mini sweet peppers. They have hot pot meats now as well as a hot food section. Parking spots are wide. They have frozen Vietnamese pandan layer cake and crunchy sweet green grapes. Their fried tofu and wings are tasty.

  • Carter Jansen

I was excited for a Chinese market to finally open in the Kanata region, but Kowloon left me disappointed. Poor product quality, high prices, and limited selection (there was literally a pile of bananas rotting and mold growing from some of their vegetables).

  • Angela Le

I like the prices and how much lower they are to their competitors but still doesn’t sacrifice quality. My only complaint is that I live too far to make the trek out to Kanata to come more regularly. Wish there was an asian grocery store in the Quebec side.

  • Co Co

Nice to have chinese grocery in neighbourhood. Cleanliness level is already degrading to level of their downtown location. Sad to see their new murals on the walls being covered by boxes. Anxiously awaiting for their bakery and hot food to be available.

  • Terry D.

The vegetables are great, but there is an unpleasant smell in the meat area. Bought the chicken a few times, my wife told me they are not quite fresh. The peanut in the box is also not fresh. Generally ok. 3 stars compared to other similar stores

  • Victoria

Not recommend anyone buy any BarBQ meat. Especially Bar B Q duck. I bought it home the meat smells rotten already. I guess it has been sitting out since the day before. Please check the expiry dates on the premade products before purchasing.

  • Damon Wei

The location is convenient for those living in the nearby residential neighbourhood. Quality of products have dropped since the opening. They are selling some products that have already gone bad. The prices are reasonable for some products.

  • Kal Cheung

Brand new Asian grocery in Kanata. Had to check it out. Very clean and organized compared to the Chinatown location. Like the old location, they also carry a lot of vegetarian mock meat products that you won’t find at T&T or Green Fresh.

  • John Luong

Finally, a true Asian grocery store in the west end. Lots of people, some items are comparable price wise.. but certainly more variety of Asian products to select from. Wish they have a food court that serves meals like T&T.

  • Karl Mallet

Asian market with great selection of products. The only thing that stood out for me is the fact that chicken parts were as a self serve fashion which makes me question hygiene. Si may be wrong but I would not try my luck.

  • Andrew Hung

As a grocery store: 5/5. 1/5 for their prepared food section. Overpriced and their roast pork and bbq pork tastes like it has been sitting there for way too long. Unless you enjoy a chew fest, I recommend staying away.

  • Fredrick Rhakang (KingMob4313)

My backyard Asian Market. Prices are okay for most things, but incredible for some veg and the meat market prices are so good for those pork cuts I used to have to go to TT for. It's not owned by Loblaws, incredible!

  • Stella Chen

It's a great Chinese grocery store with a decent selection of the essentials. They never have baked goods in stock though. Doesn't measure up to T&T for selection but happy to have something in Kanata.

  • Sayed “Ali” Parweezi

The store has a very strong raw fish smell. I just bought a yumi organic black watermelon the price was 3 times compare to normal water melon, went home and found it to be a huge disappointment.

  • Catherine Bui

Glad there's more options for an Asian market in Kanata. Many visits, and I hope it continues to have good deals and have fresh produce. Customer service surprisngly, has been very good here.

  • JY 2000

The roast pork in Kanata is not fresh. It’s rotten, I am sure the roast pork is leftover. I never have any problems when I bough from other location ( China Town). The taste is different too.

  • kerry yuill

Nice place, small but friendly. Their downtown location has the best bakery attached and this one is lacking that. I think they will have some baking but at this point nothing

  • Dale McHugh

A lesser version of T&T Superstore, is fine if you are local, but I prefer a cleaner and better equipped store. Also I live out of town so a larger facility is my preference.

  • Nancy Nguyen

It is convenient for Kanata residents who need groceries for Chinese Vietnamese cooking. Their kitchen section are not available yet hence roasted stuff is not available.

  • Dang Duang

The veggies and meat prices are really good, and the quality is also on spot. I recommend the salmon fillet there, fresher and cheaper than that of most grocery stores!

  • Fred Sun

I'm happy to have a Chinese grocery store nearby, but I found some fruits and vegetables there are not fresh. Edit: And they forgot to scale my fish yesterday. 劏鱼不刮鳞都得?

  • tilikum sea

Horrible customer service. Bought rotten and expired meat, and they were super defensive when it was brought back. We are never going back again. Avoid at all costs.

  • Calin Olsen

Great prices on some products, bakery items are only available on Saturdays, very convenient when you don't have time to go to T&T, also cheaper than T&T.

  • SSIU

Store is well lighted and clean. All aisles are well labeled. Groceries are well priced. Planty of parking spaces. Definitely will shop again.

  • Madao

Don't miss out on the hot food here. I believe they get discounted by 50% in the evenings after 6:30pm. Can get 3 dishes for around $20

  • Justine CHEN

Finally an Asian supermarket in my area! It has all the essentials and the price is fair! There is always some discount going on.

  • Link Fang

Have been here many times and most vegetables (especially Asian/Chinese veges) are really fresh! The staff are also very nice!

  • Shari Kia

Very convenient for finding almost any ingredients you need for Asian foods! Prices are fair and the store is decently clean

  • Yvonne C

Fresh green vegetables and good selections of Asian cooking essential. Cooked items container is not full and a bit pricey.

  • Angela W

Fresh veggies, decent selection of all kinds of things. Super happy I can find pickled mustard veggies and century eggs!

  • B R

Pretty cool little place. Wide variety of products, but I wished their back section served more variety of hot foods.

  • Nam Tang

This new Kowloon is very convenient for everyone in Kanata. It's now have everything including BBQ and hot foods.

  • Alex Xian

very convenient location, lots of asian foods. now i don't have to stock up chinese vegetables anymore …

  • Karen S

A much welcomed addition to the area! We got so many unexpected Asian treats while making a stop before camping.

  • Thomas Dong

Offers a semi-viable alternative for Asian foods in Kanata, though not nearly as much options as T&T.

  • R R

Great location in Kanata lakes. Very popular and convenient Asian supermarket.even opens on holidays!

  • Andrew Duong

Great selection of groceries and relatively good prices. Also Ottawa owned. Everything’s clean

  • Kuo Jui Lee

Nice place to shop for Asian grocery! Thank you ~ cashiers are very friendly as well!

Awesome selection of top quality Asian products right here in Kanata Lakes.

I like it for the fresh produce and some Asian grocery items.
