@kurtosh_official , where have you been all my life! I finally gave your Chimney Cake (Kurtosh) a go as l have walked past the @kurtosh_official Darling Square branch every time without once ever going in. Honestly, a spectacle in itself for the preparation of the Chimney Cakes as the staff roll out the nicely risen dough before winding it around a metal pipe in order for the Chimney Cake to receive great heat distribution when placed in the oven and during the blow torching phase midway through the cooking process. With the rotation of the Kurtosh while in the oven, the outside becomes baked nice and crispy while the inner parts of the Chimney Cake take on a texture of being fluffy and soft. I opted for a Nutella Kurtosh with a Pistachio Coating on the outside of my particular Chimney Cake order. Lashings of Nutella has been embedded all throughout the Chimney Cake so with every bite of the Kurtosh taken, the diner will get a delicious mouthful of textures from the crispy exterior of the Kurtosh from the baking process, crunchy crushed Pistachio Nuts, the soft and fluffy inner parts of the Chimney Cake and decadent Nutella spread throughout the Chimney Cake itself. #marrickvillemetro #kurtosh #food #foodie #foodies #foodiegram #foodstagram #igfood #igdaily #foodphotography #sydneyfoodie #sydneyfoodies #sydneyfoodblogger #sydneyfoodbloggers #sydneyfoodblogger #foodblogger #foodblogger #discoverunder5k #dessert #chimneycake #sydneyfoodscene #sydneyfoodlover

Worst experience at a Kurosh store, we have travelled from Parramatta to Wollongong just for Kurtosh. Today we stopped to have Kurtosh for fathers day, the store had a few customers but mostly was having coffees and our Kurtosh was the only one ordered. We waited over 45 minutes and still no word on where it was, I spoke to a male staff member and they where confused and asking other staff. After another 2-3 minutes he brought out a Kurtosh. We seen they took one out of a takeaway bag and put it on the plate. When we asked is it fresh and hot before he placed it down he stated yes, this was a blatant lie. The Kurtosh was stone cold, the staff member still was tring to tell us it was hot. The staff member was not being honest, knew we where onto it and was taking us as a fool. Due to this we asked for a refund, at no point did the staff admit to the error, offer a solution or try in fix the error until we called them out on it, the staff didn't even know how to do a refund. Honestly the service today was the worst and staff need training. They also need to learn how to admit to mistakes and not treat the customers as fools. Thank you for the quick response and I've sent you that email.

I absolutely love a good brunch and this place hit every aspect I look for in a place. The service was fantastic, the food was full of flavour and the atmosphere is great! we ordered from their new breakfast menu and it was so good! The smashed avo was definitely the favourite with soo much flavour featuring a slight hint of sweet along with savoury - definitely a recommended item. Their chai latte is so aromatic with strong flavour that pairs perfectly with all of the dishes. Of course we tried what their most well known for and that’s the chimney, we ordered ours with Nutella and hazelnut; this was crunchy on the outside with a bit of a softer middle and had a beautiful amount of Nutella giving that extra flavour with each bite! The cakes are worth trying as well offering such rich delicate flavours - yum!

Kurtosh! Finally a dessert place that's open late in this area. I always find it weird that they measure price by 100g, it makes everything confusing and OFC you always seem to end up paying way more than you should for something so simple, unfortunately I ordered the tiramisu and disappointingly found it bland... I could only taste the cream which was VERY HEAVY hence why the 100g rule is stupid. Most of what I paid for $6.5 per 100g (I got 230g) was cream.... I won't however give a bad rating because I know for a fact most of the other cakes and sweet are really yummy and the staff are extremely helpful and nice. Perhaps I should ask for their recommendations next time I go in.

Thoroughly disappointed in my experience here. Charged for the more expensive kurtosh and was given plain ones after waiting over 40 mins (didn’t realise until we brought it to a family dinner and disappointed everyone as they were looking forward to Nutella ones) We waited 20 mins and after asking for our order it appears they had been completely forgotten, so another girl started making it. After another 15 mins of waiting we approached the counter to be told it had fallen off the stick while baking so she has to remake a new one (thanks for letting waiting customers know!) Will never come back and don’t recommend to anyone, the pastries aren’t that good

  • C Mac

The kurtosh is nice, the cakes are very small portions for price. Given the recent price rise across their whole store, $7.20 for a tiny square of cake and over $13 for a kurtosh (which is just dough cooked in a chimney shape when you get down to the crux of it), it's totally not worth it. Just in response to the the reply I received to my review - budget is not an issue, but value for money is something many people consider. The price and serving sizes do not represent this. It is $13 for several kurtosh flavours so I'm providing factually correct information. Thanks for your response!

With all the dainty, tasty and aesthetically perfect savoury and sweet options, it was a night to remember With many variety of yummy choices to choose from, my favourites were ALL their savoury pastry options! Legit ALL of them! and YES, their sweeter items on the menu are drool worthy too, but as I write this, I'm contemplating if I have enough time on my lunch break to go get some more savoury yummy in my tummy Next time anyone's at Marrickville Metro, you gotta try out what Kurtosh(at Marrickville Metro) has to offer, cause it be a sin not too

This is my third Kurtosh I’ve visited and I love this place because it’s more comfortable and spacious compared to their Kensington and Darling Square outlets. Situated in the new dining precinct at Marrickville Metro, there is plenty of free parking available. You can sit in their outdoor seating area while enjoying music performances nearby on weekends. The chimney cone Kurtosh is made to order as in all of their outlets. Staff is friendly and service is great. This place is becoming my most visited Kurtosh place.

We ordered a Kurtosh Roll absolutely divine fresh and hot I got the Coconut and Nutella flavour although a 20 minute wait the staff did an exceptional job. The restaurant was full of customers and 2 staff is not enough the girl cooking the Kurtosh was trying to do Uber, Service and Assembly of orders while the other was doing coffee. They needed at least one more person to relieve the pressure. These girls need a raise. Overall if you had one more staff to push out the orders it would be a 5 star plus experience.

After I had such nice cakes and pastry at Kurtosh Surry Hills I thought all Kurtosh stores were the same. Apparently not. The Expresso and chocolate roulade was hard and almost frozen cold and the Nutella muffin was hard as a rock and hard to eat. The coffee was also bland. At Surry Hills all the cakes were soft and fluffy and the roulades were soft and creamy. Never coming back to Kurtosh Marrickville - cakes aren't fresh. In response to your question, yes I had this today.

I’ve been dying to try kurtosh for a while now and I finally had the opportunity last night. Couldn’t have been more impressed with everything I tried. Their famous kurtosh was absolutely to die for, it was definitely fun watching them make it fresh. Every pastry was fresh and buttery, just plain melt in your mouth. The best service and knowledge of their products which is always great. Super convenient location with heaps of street or shop parking. Cannot wait to get back.

  • Aiden A.

It's spacious. I liked the coffee and the pastry. However, they play loud high-key music that is not suitable for a café where you usually go to relax and wind down. If they change the ambient with soft instrumental music, I will be happy to give it five stars. To reply to the owner's question: I don't think you need to a specific time or date. Just ask all branches to either not play a music or play a soft no-vocal one. It's the same in the Darling Square store.

  • Michael

Waited over 30 minutes for a Kurtosh to be made. After asking where our order was the young staff mentioned they had forgotten for our order and no apologies. Firstly, they failed and burnt the first one. Secondly they gave ours to another the customer who just ordered. Thirdly, our kurtosh was raw!!! To the store manager/boss - train your staff better and also teach them some manners if you want the business to survive. There's quite a few cafes around the area!

  • Hossein Zounubi

Overpriced! They're selling cakes and desserts by weight, but they're using a very heavy plate to weigh your dessert and charging you for 150 grams when you're only getting 10 or 20 grams of cake or dessert. This is fraudulent behavior as they're not actually weighing the product. I might contact fair trading about this, as the scale is hidden at the back bench away from the view of customers. Additionally, the coffee was below average."

  • Sumi C

Love Kürtősh, whether it be a sweet treat, cake or savoury pastries all are well made, fresh and great tasting. The coffee is so good too. Nice range of brekkie options now added to their menu as well. Warm hospitality and nice ambience.

** Cake by weight **. Be ADVISED people. Maybe put the per 100g writing a bit bigger so people don't feel cheated and is AWARE of how your pricing works. We were 'surprised' when we dined in. I observed a group of customers having the same 'disappointment' when they ordered takeaway after seeing their cakes. It's like one of those Fine prints or T&C's where people always get caught.

Nice cafe for a quick drink or sweets. I do like the cheesecakes they make and there is a fair selection of teas. I would say the kurtosh itself is quite substantial and should be shared. It is nice with simple cinnamon sugar but I was expecting a crispy outer layer and soft doughy centre. This dessert comes down to preference youll either love it or find it okay

  • Terry Koutsioukis

I wish I could give this place a decent review but impossible! The Kurtosh was burnt and if you want a coffee be prepared for a non specialist cafe to charge you one of, if not the most expensive Coffees in the center! $5,50 for a Lactose free Latè! While other stores sell reasonably priced coffee! Seems more of a gimmick cake store then quality.!

  • Jesse Lab

Ahh. I wish i didnt want to give a bad review. I’m a big fan of kurtosh - literally went to crows nest two days ago. But I was there today and had one of their signature kurtoshkalacs. And it was burnt. 2/5s was uneatable. Hope the quality gets better. The cakes were excellent and staff were friendly. Would love more attention to detail though.

  • Alia H

Nice cafe. My first time trying a kurtosh and I like that it's freshly made to order. It was interesting to watch it being made only a couple of metres away. Like that there are a good amount of pasteries and and cakes to choose from. Keen to try a mousse cake slice next time I'm at Marrickville Metro and feel like having dessert.

My nutella kürtósh travelled extremely well during lockdown and arrived freshly baked, warm, crisp and intact. Was really nice to have the option of having one as I had planned travel to Romania but...of course, no dice. Thankfully, there is a Kürtósh now in the Inner West so we have a good option to nutella gozleme.

  • Katrina - EW Lee

The cakes and coffee are delicious and the variety is vast. But one stand out is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. My toddler had a little accident outside the cafe and the staff came out with water and napkins, be we had even ordered. Big thank you to the wonderful staff who made us feel at ease.

  • Hiba

Finally opened up closer to home, I used to go to the one in Haymarket. Nice atmosphere and dessert is great with a coffee or tea. Sometimes they don’t put enough topping/filling in the kurtosh, but if you send it back, the friendly staff will make you a new one! Go for the caramelised hazelnut and Nutella.

Finally!! A Kurtosh eatery to fill the tummies of the Inner West! I felt like Charlie in the chocolate factory! Such a beautiful story with the greatest dessert offerings. A date night or treat yourself venue any time any day! One of my favourites on Smidmore Street at Marrickville Metro

  • Akiko Koide

One of my favourite cake shop.. good location and quiet area when I got there wasn't busy but it will go very busy.. cake sold by the grams not pieces.. that will might go over budget but if you love these cakes, you won't regret how much your paying for.. coz I don't …

  • Bonnie Huang

I love the Kürtösh cinnamon so much Made fresh, and the perfect amount of cinnamon that wasn't overpowering, but just the right amount to make it so delicious. I couldn't resist going back for more! I highly recommend trying thisand I can't wait to come back again

  • Gek Leng Tan

Ordered their tiramisu cake from DoorDash. I used to like their tiramisu cake a lot, but I think this’s going to be the last time for me to order with them. The cake does not taste good like before, and there’s ice inside the cake, I feel like I’m eating ice.

Great selection! We did 4 slices of cake (a 'cake platter') - carrot cake and strawberry pistachio sponge were so moist and delicious!!! Mama's chocolate cake and hazelnut tart unfortunately a little dry and stodgy. Want to go back to try more flavors though!

  • JeN E

We had a coffee stop after lunch, coffee's nice and the cake we had. However, cake (Tiramisu and Strawberry Sponge cake) were very small portion. I have not had a cake before measured as per grams. $7.20 per 100gram. I would pay $8 for a decent "slice" cake.

  • Trang Le

Coconut kurtosh for a Sunday afternoon snack after visiting the market. It took approximately 15 minutes as everything was made fresh to order. The flavour was a bit bland hence for the 4 stars but I think it worths a try. Good customer service and location.

  • Carol L

The sweet smell of patisserie and cakes. The fresh aroma of coffee. Located on Ground floor in Marrickville Metro shopping centre. Staff are warm and welcoming, assisting with the selection they have to offer. Dined in and took our time to savor the flavours.

  • Albert Tedjadiputra

Located in Marrickville, this is a nice place to get some European desserts. Friendly service makes this a place that you do not want to miss. It is located on the ground floor of the Marrickville metro mall. Liven app payment is available on this shop.

  • Julian Henderson

Baked cheesecake = bliss. Wasn't really paying attention and ordered a small box worth of cake which came to around $43.. the 100 gram ordering system is a little confusing, but not a single crumb from that cheesecake went to waste.

  • Melissa Mahony

Came here for a cheeky dessert. The gentleman who served us had amazing hospitality and was so lovely!! The food was delicious too. Only put 4 stars because they didn't have any cream to go on the side ;)

Kurtosh is our go-to dessert place! Convenient that there's one in Marrickville Plaza. We always order strawberry cake and chai latte!

  • Toby Wong

Usually I have a great experience at Kurtosh, but, ordered a hot chocolate the other day and it was really watered down!

  • z3173054

Cake was nice, but for $6.9 for a very very small square of carrot cake .. I find that it was too pricey in my opinion.

  • Damien Aiello

The cheese cake was more like raw or undercooked sponge cake dough and very bland. At $69 per kilo very disappointing.

  • Tara Rose Lyons

Beware, over the past week kurtoshs arrive crushed and charred tasting like fuel. The photos don’t even do it justice
