Right off the top....I have never left a review - good or bad. I waited a full 2 days to cool down and think over the day. As well, I want to note that our server (Bianca) was awesome! She literally ran her feet off keeping our section well lubricated and she did it with a smile. 10/10 And......they have a good selection of relevant beers. BUT..... On October 7th, 6 of us attended for the 3rd time in 4 weeks during the Rugby World Cup. It is a long drive for us - 30 km. As it was to be a huge game (Scotland vs Ireland) and reservations were needed, we made them and were told we would get 3 tables of 2, side by side. We arrived an hour early, when the pub was still mostly empty and were shown to a booth with almost no view of a television. We said that this was not what we reserved and pointed to where we were supposed to be. We were then shown to a different booth and since it had good TV sight-lines, we said it would be fine. As we were getting settled, a different hostess came up and told us we couldn't sit there, and pointed to 3 tables of 2 across the aisle and said we could have those. We moved for a 2nd time. Then the original hostess came back and told us that those tables were reserved and offered us the ACTUAL 3 tables that we had reserved! We moved a 3rd time. A few minutes later she came back and told us that we couldn't sit there either and pointed us back to the original booth with minimal TV viewing. At this point, enough was enough and we stood our ground replying that we would be sticking to the 3 tables....our actual reservation! The hostess then said that "If you're unhappy with the situation, you can leave". I replied that we didn't drive all this way just to find another pub with just 30 minutes before the game! We stayed at the tables. As we were waiting for the game to start, I jokingly wondered if all of this was happening because we were Scottish fans in an Irish pub. The bartender then came over and scolded me for not accepting the original booth we were offered (but not what our reservation was for). Overall, this lack of organization coupled with the rudeness has left a bad taste in my mouth. Our group is supposed to go back for the final game (yes - we have a reservation....for what it's worth), but I am not sure I will accompany them. .................................................................................................. This reply is to what the owner left in response to my review. ................................................................................................... Thank you for replying to my concerns. We DID understand that our group was not to be seated together and that we would have 3 tables of 2. Not a problem. We were happy to watch it in a great atmosphere! You're also right that I was not in the loop that we had been offered a booth after our initial reservation and that it had been accepted. Our 'leader' didn't communicate that to us. It is also true that the booth we were given only had a sight-line to a very small TV. This prompted our requesting somewhere with better sight-lines. However, I stand by the rest of what I wrote. We dealt with 2 different hostesses who kept shunting us around until we finally said enough. It is absolutely NOT true that we refused 2 other tables. They were both fine, but each time we settled, a hostess would come up and tell us that we had to move. Finally: when I said the thing about Scottish fans not being welcome in an Irish pub......I WAS JOKING! I was speaking to a group of Irish fans sitting across from us and we were having a good laugh. It certainly didn't require the bartender coming over to scold me. As I said, this was our 3rd visit there for the World Cup. We live far away and wouldn't have come back if the earlier visits hadn't been fine. I even pointed out how great our server was and that you have a good selection of beers. But above all else, I found the rudeness of the bartender and hostess to be the reason for the review I left.

Just finished eating here it was pretty good but very pricey like much more than I would normally pay and is why I feel the food wasn't really worth it. We had the grilled cheese and tomato soup, the prime rib Yorkies, and the bison blue cheese burger. The Yorkie were pretty authentic tasting definitely going along with the Irish theme and I thought they were well made the horse radish was really good too. The blue cheese burger was big and filling and pretty tasty and came with a side sauce that really highlighted the meal it was so tasty I was dipping my grilled cheese in it the whole time. As for the grilled cheese and tomato soup it was quite bland for my taste. I really needed that sauce that came with the burger as the tomato soup just didn't have enough for me but it was warm and filling and tasted like they used fresh tomatoes in it and you could tell it was made here it was nice I think if it came with a dipping sauce that would really complete it as a meal for people who like extra flavor. The service was a little slow though waiter wasn't really around even though there wasn't many people there. That's why I gave a 3.

Went for the Ireland rugby game as discounted pints of Guinness were advertised. Received the bill and was told that the discount didn't apply despite Instagram and the website saying it did. Happy Hour is advertised as every day from 11am - 6pm as well - was told this didn't apply as it was a "special event". Live sports in a bar that shows live sports is not a special event. Manager met us after we enquired about the bill - couldn't have been ruder - ignored our questions and stormed off - told us we were wrong. We showed him the Instagram page and website that they still had live, but wouldn't listen to us. Service was very poor all day and our server was extremely rude. Have never in my time in Vancouver had such a rude server. I've been to Johnnie Fox's countless times since I moved to Vancouver and had always enjoyed my time there, however, I won't be back again. Avoid this bar and give your money to a bar that deserves it.

Decent food and atmosphere, but tipping practices tainted the experience. We dined with a large group; the waitress informed one member of the group of auto-gratuity (which I don’t have a problem with). At the end of the night though, she didn’t make any effort to remind the parties of this, happily looking on as several groups paid another full tip on top of the auto-gratuity. After two parties accidentally did this, I approched the waitress to please remind people of the auto-grat already included, and she dismissively agreed to do so. Later that week when speaking to other parties it transpired that she hadn’t and more parties had paid double tip. This seems like a good idea for short term earnings, but bad for business otherwise. I won’t be returning.

Visited Johnnie Fox’s last night for dinner and drinks with some friends, and was really disappointed with the food and some of the servers. I ordered the salt and malt vinegar wings, but what I got were plain breaded wings. Dips were meh too. The curry cheese chips were terrible!!!! The bar staff know how to pour a good pint of Guinness though, which is why they didn’t get 1 star. If you’re going to charge such high prices for food, you need to make it good! Service wasn’t great either; some staff were nice but others were just downright rude. Darcy is probably the worst server I’ve ever dealt with. Suffice it to say, we will be sticking to Donnellan’s and Shamrock Alley in the future.

Went there for Friday lunch with several colleagues. We arrived just before noon and it was pretty quiet. Got my beef dip which was pretty darn good, quite a bit of beef surrounded by garlic bread. Didn't even need to dip it. Came with some fries which were good and even came with its own separate dip and ketchup. Well executed. One colleague had the fish and chips but was disappointed by it. Service was solid. My understanding is that they used to have lunch specials but recently stopped it. Would go back just for the beef dip.

Quite liked the ambience and the crowd. Waiters were friendly and welcoming. As a brown person in an establishment which screams white people, I was a bit reluctant to go here. But, I was pleasantly surprised. We had a mixed table of different nationalities a Canadian as well. It was fun. There was dancing, pool and the outdoor patio seating was nice too. It gets noisy if you go there early as it's next to Main street. Once you go on you just hear the Irish having a good old time. A band sometimes plays too. I'll go there again for sure.

The food --- we had the fish & chips & the fish was just not right. It was not properly cooked. We finished most of the fries and maybe half the fish before continuing on to the Peter Gabriel concert. The service was quick, efficient, and polite. I have no complaints there. The atmosphere was raucous, which I know many enjoy. I found a bit too noisy, could not have much of a conversation as a result. I was hoping for a bit better. Perhaps I just got a bad meal.

My recent visit to Johnnie Foxes Pub was a letdown due to the unexpected closure of their pool tables. I had heard great things about them, so it was disappointing not to have them available during my visit. The lack of communication about this closure further added to the disappointment, and it left me with limited entertainment options in a crowded pub. While the atmosphere and drinks were decent, the absence of the pool tables negatively impacted my overall experience.

A very decent Irish establishment with a wide array of drinks available. Personally had the normal Irish special of double jamie on the rocks. Had an open mic night which was very interesting to experience. They Also have a couple of pool tables and the general atmosphere is relaxed. Would highly recommend

As an Irishman I'm sometimes picky about pubs, and after living here for more than a decade I suppose I've mostly come to terms with "seated service". All this said it's great here, timely and professional, friendly check in well before you're finished your pint. Quiz night was decent too!

Classic Irish pub as one would expect. Was there on Friday evening, was quite crowded and loud. Live music. Food is good but service was little bit slow during busy time.Atmosphere is great.

The Barman Eric pours an absolutely beautiful pint of Guinness. Creamy, smooth, rich, right head height and temperature with perfect domage. Solid breakfast. If your looking for a perfect Irish pub in Vancouver, this is it.

Always a good time, laid back and casual, music not too loud so you can talk. Live music on most weekends. Food is very reasonable and good portions. If ordering the beer battered fries make sure to ask for then to go light on the seasoning or it can get a bit too salty. Good spot to go before a night out in the city.

We took a cab over which was a really nice drive across the city. Great big pub, staff very friendly, had a good glass of cider from back home which was nice. Ordered the Sunday Roast Beef, nice but the beef was a bit tough and stringy as we say back home but over all it was nice.

Very chill place to get some beer and just relax. Love their apple cider. Fish and chips was so good. Irish Dinner was ok. It came with a roasted huge steak. The meat was so hard to chew .. not my type. But the price is good. Would try something different next time.

Johnnie Fox is a great place to hang out or meet with friends. Friendly staff and place that speaks of Ireland. The Prime Rib Yorkies and Everyone Else's Wings are very tasty. Good selection of beers on tap too. Will definitely be back with friends and family.

Kind of place that wants the music so loud that you have to yell at the top of your lungs to be heard by the person across the table. If you're fine with that, you can expect a typical caricature of an Irish bar

Great pub with live music on the weekends. Takes a while to get a drink when it’s busy, but the staff seem to be doing all that they can. Usually have events on big nights.

Fries were ok, jalapeño poppers were ok. Staff was ok .. we seemed to be the only people there with a dog that didn't get offered a water bowl or a doggie bed. Everyone else there had one...

Typical Irish pub vibes. They had nice live music and the spice box was delicious. The fresh keg of Kilkenny going on tap was heavenly.
