I visited India Garden Restaurant for an event with the University where the food service was buffet-style. I am not entirely sure if they only offer buffet service, but my review only reflects that service offering. The food, overall, is good. I tried small amounts of most dishes and none of them stuck out to me as being particularly amazing, but there were no bad dishes aside from my own personal taste preferences of types of food I simply don't like. You won't likely visit this restaurant and tell yourself that a certain dish was the best of that kind you've had at any restaurant, but you will enjoy it, serving sizes are more than adequate, and the price for the buffet seemed fair to me. It's definitely worth visiting if you're on the east side of the city, or drive a little further for Little India for a similar, albeit more authentic indian experience. Ultimately, you won't be disappointed with this restaurant and they serve great food and the staff are very friendly.

The location and interior of the restaurant is a little on the drab side. Service was also terrible. One girl was working the entire restaurant. She brought us our drinks and bread and never came back again. No topping up drinks, nothing. There were times where she wasn't helping anyone and still could not be bothered to refill drinks. Saw her disappear into the back several times, only to bring out bread for 1 other table and wipe down a second. For these reasons I deducted 2 stars. That being said we had the buffet which was great! Nice selection of paneer, dal and meat dishes. All were absolutely delicious. Limited salad and dessert selection. I never tried the salads as they didn't look the best. Desserts were also sparse and only tried one of them, which was also very good. Best part is the buffet was only 14.95. Can't complain for that price. Despite the downsides, I would and probably will go back some day.

I had a great experience yesterday (Jan 15) with my dad. Our server was very friendly, familiar enough with the cooking to be able to readily point out the vegan options, and took the time to check with the cook for one thing she was unsure of. The food is great! I saw a review mention bland food and I was pleasantly surprised by the opposite. The channa masala wasn't as spicy as I'm used to but welcome to Edmonton. Flavor was still great and spicy is a preference. The baingan bharta, however, was hands down the best I've had. I eat mostly Indian when I eat out and it's not usually one of my favorites but this was the best thing on the table. Very highly recommended. We ordered dinner for two off the menu, had leftovers for lunch and got a takeout box from the buffet to bring home to mom. I can't speak to the buffet quality but we got four solid meals and spent just under $70.

Need good employee in the restaurant. Look like there mind is not at work .I am telling that why , because I ordered food for pic up . One girl answered phone and toke order and she told me I can pic up 20-25 minutes. So I went the restaurant for pic up food then girl who toke order she said she didn’t toke any order and she said she is one answered all phone calls. I was shocked. I show her recent call I spoke to her. Then she said she if can wait they will make for . But I can’t because I was on my work and only 30 minutes break time. When I came back to my work place then the girl call me and she said food is already was made in kitchen. If I go back again and pic up food. What common sense she used to tell me go back again for pic up food what I told already I can’t wait longer because I was on my break. If there any option to give 0 star then I would like to .

Amazing! We have ordered from India Garden several times now and everytime the food has been delicious and of the best quality. You can tell that they are using fresh ingredients and making dishes to order. My wife has a life threatening nut/treenut allergy. We have dined at other restaurants in the city who have failed to take the care to ensure that they are serving the correct dishes (korma instead of tikka masala) and preparing them in a safe way. We can order from India Garden and rest assured that they have prepared the dishes to accommodate her very serious allergy, they also are very sweet to write a little message on our take out container knowing that they did so with care. We absolutely love India Garden and would recommend to all!

India Garden, you have done it again! Amazing meal enjoyed by our family. Packed with care for takeout in lovely reusable bags. Containers sturdy ,no leaks, retained heat on 15 minute drive home. Authentic flavors, quality and quantities are on point. I appreciate the server repeating our order on the phone to confirm. Our family feasted on veg samosas and pakoras, butter chicken, Dahl, naan, saffron rice and coconut rice. Delicious!

Always trying new Indian restaurants for the vegetarian dishes. The veggie samosa was ok but lacked a few ingredients. I like my Indian food spicy but not over powering the taste, the palak paneer had a bit to much chili oil residue but had great flavour along with the dal makhani which was prepared perfectly. The jeera rice was exvellant as well. The whole whear rotti was a bit over cooked in the tandori oven. My waitress was very polite and attentive. In all I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

The buffet was not available as advertised, the dining room was empty (should have bolted) however I convinced my wife to stay and order off the menu from some young lady that was very pushy and appeared to be having a bad day.We ordered some appetizers that didn’t arrive until half the main course was on the table. The serving were generous but nowhere near what I had promised my wife in terms of flavour, once the food was unceremoniously dropped at the table the waitress went about her mundane tasks and totally forgot that we were even there. No offer to top up our water or “how is your meal?” No may I suggest an after dinner sweet…. No effort Not impressed . Needs a lot of work in order to get us to return …

  • Laura Toutant

Very clean restaurant with plenty of seating. Our waitress, Noor, was super friendly and provided quick service. Is our new go to restaurant on this side of Edmonton! So many delicious options to choose from, my mom and I had Chana Masala and Goat Biryani and each dish had enough food left for lunch the next day. Highly recommend!

East Indian cuisine always has something for vegetarians, but the vegetarian options on India Gardens menu takes up the most room! Even their buffet has at least 3 vegetarian dishes to choose from :)

Food is good but they screw up with order. Upon contacting them to notify that order was not prepared properly they deny taking the responsibility and inform us that we never ordered stuff thats missing from the takeout package. I drive all the way from St.Albert to pickup food from this restaurant as I like their food but I am definitely going to find an alternative as I would rather like to get my order correctly packed so I dont have to prepare food again after reaching home. If you can check your call recordings for the order placed and realize that you made a mistake in noting the order then please contact me and work on this comment.

I've ordered several times from India Garden and I am continually impressed. I always get it delivered. For the same price as a boring pizza I can instead get vindaloo, naan, chutney and dahi, delivered, with enough left over to enjoy again the next day. I'm a white guy; I have little experience with the cuisine but I enjoy the heat and I enjoy the fantastic spices to which I have been introduced. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to take the wife and visit the actual restaurant, sit down and enjoy the food over beers and good conversation. Here's to the future!

  • Reese Williams

I have no idea where to begin.. terrible service with terrible food.. the samosas I ordered were old and looked brown on the inside . They missed an order for chicken biriyani on a Skip order that I placed. They asked me to get the missing item picked up when the order was already late by 30 minutes. This is unacceptable and leaves a bad impression note. They don't seem to care for their customers. Won't recommend this place to anyone. Not going to order anymore from this place.

I has some of the best Indian food I've has in Edmonton last night. All of the dishes had different flavors and degrees of heat. We ordered several dishes (more than we needed) so we had some to take home. Everything was delicious from the paneer, to the butter chicken and Chana Masala. I'm looking forward to going back and having the lunch buffet.

I absolutely LOVED this buffet! The food was so amazing, I honestly couldn't pick just one favorite. Our server was welcoming, friendly, polite and attentive, and the price was also pleasantly surprising! In fact, the food was so good that my friend ordered a few items off the menu for take-out AFTER we had already eaten at the buffet! Hahaha... I've never seen that before! India Garden is off the beaten path, but well worth the effort to get there. Service, food quality, and price all receive 5 stars from me!

My son and I went here for supper tonight. When you walk in the door, you are welcomed with the smell of amazing spice and indian music. The food was so tasty and the service was amazing. We ate Paneer, aloo goobi, chicken vindaloo, and garlic Naan. Wow is all I can say , what a amazing place.

Best indian restaurant in the city. They are doing indo-chinese also. I tried almost every restaurant for Noodles because looking for perfect taste like India. Only this place gave me best Noodles. Other dishes on the order were delicious too. Only one girl was handling all tables. Still, she was doing really good job on Customer service. Everything was perfect. It was my 1st time there and hope they will do same service for next time.

  • laura woolner

Terrible terrible food. We ordered through Skip the Dishes and were very disappointed with all the food. It’s bland with no flavour, the Chicken Tikka MASALA was dry (and when I questioned this they said that was the way they make it) and the coconut rice didn’t taste of coconut and had mustard seeds in. When I called to complain they refused to do anything. So, if you like proper Indian food then don’t order from here. I have no idea how their reviews are so high...

  • Frank LaCourse

Excellent Indian food! From the hostess to the dinner it was very nice. The food tasted like real Indian cuisine, not a watered-down version. I will definitely be coming back. Maybe I will try their lunch buffet next time. Frank (the tall Texasan)

The creamy tomato sauce that they put in their butter chicken is excellent. The level of spiciness is very reasonable and adapted to people who don't necessarily eat spicy like me, but who can take a little bit of heat in their meal. I recommend to order it with a bowl of basmati rice and mix the butter chicken in it, but keep some sauce to dip their delicious naan bread in it. Portions are also very reasonable.

  • John S

Over all good food when you are hungry and quick. I have eaten here in the past with better results. This time I ordered, Aloo Gobi too oily but tasted 10/10 With Garlic Naan 10/10 Veggie Samosa 9/10 Mixed vegetables little too oily 7/10 Potatoes slightly underdone With Onion Naan 10/10 Curry Chicken 6/10 Curry was very oily With Garlic Naan 10/10 Saffron Rice 5/10 smell of bleach and didn't taste proper.

  • Justin Deonarine

Great food, great value (especially for a buffet) and friendly service. It can get a little busy during the lunch hours (in particular, before a holiday, which is when I tend to go), but it's well worth the wait. The variety available at the buffet isn't as large as other places, but the quality is definitely there and you'll easily be able to eat your fill before you get tired of that day's options.

We've been looking for a new Indian restaurant in this area for a while. The lunch buffet is always well stacked with a broad selection of Indian food. The food is fresh and lunch service is very quick. We have frequented the place quite a bit lately and enjoy it.

It's a good deal at 13 95 per lunch buffet, but selection is lacking compare to other rival Indian buffet in the city, also, meats a bit dry. Came here for years because of convenience around lunch, they always have 1 soup, salad bar, 1 type of rice, 1 fish dish, 2 veg dish minimum, and they always have butter chicken, always comes with fresh nann. Drinks not included in buffet

We ordered from these guys through Skip The Dishes and it was so good! The chicken vindaloo was quite spicy, but paired with the onion naan - it balanced it perfectly! The samosas (chicken, beef and veg) are a great size and very good as well! We will definitely be ordering from here again, or checking out their restaurant to try out everything else.

Amazing food choices at the buffet. If you have been wanting to try Indian cuisine and are wondering which dish you would choose from the menue, try the buffet. Indian gardens will generously open their space to local event planners. I totally recommend Indian Gardens as your "go to place" for your Indian cuisine appitite.

  • Simply 4 you

Well the food is terrible and the presentation of the food is pathetic. I have tried their Samosa Chana, Aalo Tikki Chana and Chana Bhatura- hate to say but all of them didnt taste good. Please work on the quality of your food. Customer Service was very good and the girls working at the front are very polite and friendly.

  • tony alex

Me and my other 2 friends tried naan breads, tandoor platter and chicken tikka masala. Price wise its okay but taste wise its not up to the par. Service also just like ordinary customers need something really special. Surely visit again and please make sure to clear these kind of silly mistakes. Thank You …

Good value for money if going for lunch buffet. They have a decent variety of food. My bar for Indian food is quite high and this place misses to be around it. Goat curry had hard pieces if goat and very mediocre flavor. Butter chicken had too much cinnamon in it. Fish pakora and Kadhai chicken were good.

The buffet is good and good value for the money, but I recently found out their non-buffet order is fresh and amazing quality! it was sooo good, and in the end I pretty much paid the same as I would have for the buffet. The taste and quality is one of the best in Edmonton for Indian restaurants
