Coming here for YEEEEARS and about time I leave a review. I have to start by saying I came here through a friend after I came back from Asia craving Dan Dan Men (Japanese) / Tantan Mien (Chinese) and being thoroughly disappointed by what was offered or moreso if it wasn't. This place came so highly recommended that my friend and I went there the same day of that convo something like 15 years ish ago. I have had Dan Dan at least 100 times there and have loved it each and every time. I also love their eggplant-potato-green pepper dish. I feel awful bec I rarely adventure away from these bec I tend to make a special trip to Hsieh for Dan Dan. With that said, I have tried s few other noodle soups over the years and they were awesome. Fried chicken was juicy and flavorful too. The mother (owner) has always been welcoming and friendly and now has her kids helping out too. The gentleman that I assume is dad is always plugging away on his computer smiles and carries on. I often wonder what he does on it bec he's definitely not playing video but too shy to ask . The menu is extensive. Try Dan Dan & let me know what you think. Try something else and let me know if I should change it up sometimes. Just so hard to pass up my fav dish at my favorite place ro get it in the non soupy style...

Ok I dont know what that dude who rated this place before me was thinking when he gave it a "poor-fair" because thats just not the case. This restaurant is my ideal, I love it. It is right next to my house, the service is great, and the food is better then any chinese restaurant I have ever been to. The price is also great. For example you can get a big plate of the best beef chow mein you have ever had for 8 bucks. You cant get that much food for that price anywhere else, not even Macdonalds, and the food is way way way way amazing. Granted they don't have a buffet like China Garden down the block but then again this place is a real good quality restaurant and you cant have the level of quality that this place offers from re-heated buffet food. So if your serious about good chinese food this is the place. I cant even eat chinese food anywhere else because i just think, "gee I could have spent this money on awesome chinese food at Hsieh, instead of at this crummy place with way less awesome food". So all in all great price, great location, great service, great food. This place is the best.

Worst food I've ever had. First off, I'm ordering through skip the dishes and my order takes forever to go through, and then it get cancelled with no explanation. I call and ask why and they couldn't do any of my accommodations, or give me extra sauce. So I get my order, skip the dishes was perfect, I start eating and then I realise I only got half of the order! I called and they claimed that I would have call skip the dishes and that it was thier fault and I was not about to have that fight. So I continue eat and like 3 bites in the food is overpoweringly greasy and salty, and they give you 90% subpar rice and 5little chunks of chicken. Not worth the price at all, very dissapointed in the service and quality.

Compared to other Chinese restaurants, I don’t think the portion size here is small at all. Plus, this is Taiwanese-style Chinese cuisine, so if you find the taste slightly different from what you expected, it’s quite normal. Although it’s not entirely identical to authentic Taiwanese flavors, it did bring back memories of Taiwan for me. Keep up the good work, and I’ll continue to support you!

Wow this place is insane. $14 for a dish you should know the quantity of food you pay for. This place came with $5 dollars amount of food when you paid $14. What a scam! I won’t be going back .I strongly do not recommended anyone to support this place. I phoned in and spoke with the owner regarding to the food portion we paid for, wow the owner admit their portion is small and this is how it is she said. ZERO star for this place. SCAM!!!

The worst service I’ve ever met. I can’t eat beef and then the staff who wears the glasses still gave me my meal which had including the beef. I told her I can’t eat beef and she was trying to push the mistake away. She said they do have different kinds of beef. She thought I can eat another part of beef That was ridiculous. At the end, the staff did not admit her mistake at all !!!Terrible experience I’ve ever had!

Fantastic food on a student budget! I love getting the daily noodle soup special for lunch, $5.60 w/ tax for a massive bowl of soup. It's usually good for 2 meals for me. My favourite dishes are the shredded pork with satay and the hot and sour shredded pork noodle soup. I highly recommend this place for anyone interested in amazingly delicious and inexpensive food!

Worse food ever! we had what was supposed to be sweet and sour chicken, it looked disgusting but had to give it a try anyway, the so called sweet and sour sauce tasted more like watered down bullseye bbq sauce and the chicken was hard to find. And don't go in the bathroom it's full of grasshoppers. One phrase here "I'll never be that hungry to go there again!"

The food was so tasteless and soupy. We ordered a stir vegetables and stir fried lamb with cumin&onions. Looks like the vegetables was boiled and put in some stock and the lamb was boiled and sautéed with onions in a stock!! Food portion is very small as well. We called to let them know and the owner just said they are sorry! Really bad experience overall!!!!

Very good Taiwanese food. My families favorites are the sour cabbage and pork noodle soup and the shrimp pancake? I don't know if that's it's name because they just order it when we go. I didn't look at the menu. They also have bubble tea. In the past they did not use a powder and used real whipping cream, which made it stand out for me.

Iv order the pork fired rice, only have 6 pieces of super small pork slices like I had to use microscope to find them and super salty. $13.50 for that I’d rather take Macdonald big mag. Plz prepare a food matches the price.

One of my favourite places in Winnipeg. Don't let the plain, basic interior alarm you as the food is homecooked greatness that will surprise. My fav noodles is Dan Dan Mein (Tantanmen for my Japanese friends) and the best dish is a concoction of green peppers, potatoes & eggplant.

  • Sean Piirik

The sweet and sour chicken and kung pao chicken are bland and mostly onion. Very little meat for the price. Fried dumplings were okay. Ordered from here because my usual Chinese restaurant wasn't open, but will avoid in the future.

Fantastic authentic chinese food. The ingredients they use are mundane, but they make their dishes taste fantastic despite that - a sign of an excellent chef.

The kung pao dish is absolutely amazing, might be one of the few restaurants that serve actual spicy food. Must try if you are there. (Have not tried any other dish)

  • Tiffany Zhang

High chair for children has missing seatbelt. All you can hear throughout was the female owner nagging her servers and the cook. Service was extremely slow.

  • Carla Cabato

I love their food, tastes just like homemade and the prices are reasonable. My brother loves their fried rice so much and I enjoy their mapo tofu.

  • jing jin

Terrible.so little quantity.i ordered stay beef. The taste is just beef put in the stay sauce. The quantity is so little you will feel starving

  • Matt B

Very cosy place to grab some well prepared Chinese food. My favorite time to go is lunch to get the Huge soup daily special for around $7.

  • Ryan Zaffino

Containers came half empty! Don't order here it's a rip off, worst Chinese food I've ever had.
