I've gone to this church many times in the past and utilized thier clothes closet and the other programs they have to help low income families. While I greatly appreciate what they offer to the community I recently had a negative experience with a lady that was running the clothes closet. I had an appointment that I had rescheduled because my daughter was sick in early August. So I emailed an apologized that I couldn't attend because of illness. When I arrived the young lady at the doors asked for my name to confirm the appointment. She said my name was not on the list, so I showed her the email I received from a staff member of the church of the rescheduled appointment for that day. She rudely grabbed my phone to look at the email..then dropped my phone on the counter. She called for her " mom" and this other lady came and I explained the situation..she looked on her computer and said, " it's checked off you came here in August " I again explained that I didn't make that appointment because my daughter was sick..and I was not here and I don't know why thatwas checked off.she then rudely told me that it was checked off and that I could make another appointment in October. I tried to show her the email proving I had canceled the appointment and rescheduled it with a staff member, she continued to dismiss me and then went to praise her " daughter" that she did a good job " catching that one". I don't know what that meant so again I tried to calmly and politely show her the emails, she continued to talk over me and move me toward the door. I was really upset by the treatment, it was dismissive and rude. I understand they may have issues with people trying g to book to many appointments but I had proof of the rescheduling. I felt judged unfairly and wasn't given a chance to explain my situation. I had never this happen before so it was surprising and disappointing. I appreciate what this church offers to the community, perhaps the staff need to take a minute to listen and not dismiss someone so readily.

Honest if Jesus is calling you join! It's all for Him. The manifestations of the Holy Spirt are serious and the worship is on point. The Lord will melt you if you let him. Phil the Lead Pastor loves The Lord and uses many parts of the Bible to reienforce the message, the younger pastor sometimes can some off stange but were all learning. Phil's love for the church, family a passion is real. I've been going for about 8 months now, God keeps calling me back. I've honestly got half a cold shoulder from some of the leaders, but we all have off days right. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare there is a police officer and some men with cones swinging them about be parient! Or go to the Thursday service! Connecting can be difficult as its a big church, the best way is to start serving, I serve in SR High and what a blessing it is! I have been to the Project 5 Times now and Rubahn is the pastor, he is vulnerable and sincere it speaks too me... it however seems to be a younger crowd alot being 22-25 years old, I'm 28 so that make me older and in a bit of a different life stage. It is for 18-30 years of age. There is a group for adults 25-35 but 100 people are added and 13 show up so there is a bit of a disconnect. Overall this is my home church, and a true Bride of Christ. #1KinG

There is NO Gospel of Jesus here, It is more to me like a social gathering where there is a scanty mention of the name of Jesus to be considered as a church, but for the most part the style appeals to the Flesh, If you want an outward type of association to a christian community that does not appeal to the soul, does not help your personal walk with Jesus, If you care so much for all the external of Christianity devoid of life, This is a Place to be, the men on the pulpit are more popular than Jesus, you would think it is a fashion parade, the personal effects, the musical display only appeal to the flesh not the soul. This to me is the state that we fall into when the backsliding of a church is rife. anytime i you want to switch from a club house to sometime that gives you a sense or a taste of it, this will sure create the feeling. there is no teaching. there is no life. i mean Godly life, it is just a mimicry of Christianity. when you think of how far we have fallen, this environment will make you weep for revival of the reformer. I would rather attend the orthodox and be considered dead in my walk with God than associate with what bears the name of Act 2 and be lifeless in my soul

As a Christian catholic born I being to so many churches. It was always something that didn't feel right. Yes we all are humans not everyone is perfect. But there r churches who praise god with lots of judgment. But this is the only place that I felt something is right. Remember Jesus is the king of the poor. Treated all the same. In hopecity the moment I walked in I could say miracle do happen. I walked out with hope. Some people might think this place is like a disco. Remember this is a place that praise Jesus. .sing to Jesus. . Talk about Jsus. Bring your faith here you will see it. I just was looking one place that touch my soul was this place.the people the community the pastor's everyone over their welcome you with no judgement. Just like Jesus . Also this place called hope city for a reason. Because you will come there without a hope but definitely u will walk out with a hope.. If you're looking for a church to start your faith. This is the place. You will feel Jesus is here with you. Bring your faith in here.

Been going since March to the young adults. Very surface level sermons that have a lot of comedy but only 5 minutes of actual information. The people there are clickly and it's almost impossible get in a group. I was told to get a connecting card and a coffee but I was just given a card and the usher promptly returned talking to someone else. Was a Christian a long time ago and I'm disappointed to come back to this preppy and fake "everything is going to be hunky dory" Christianity. Just wanted to update. Went to church again asked for a connecting card and same thing happened. No conversation just "here's a card". Very surface level people volunteer to serve here. You asked if I want to speak to a pastor to share these views? Are you implying the pastor doesn't look at reviews for their church? Update - looks like you've deleted your response...

After attending this church, I would have to say it is not a great church. They seem to praise the Oilers more than their God. It seems like a Backstreet Boys concert, or the focus is on the singers not God. It is not a place you’ll be missed or really even noticed. I emailed several of the pastors for prayer. Nobody even bothered returning my messages. If you’re looking for a close, net, godly community. This is not it. Praising the Oilers is an abomination to the lord. There’s a time, and a place in in a church service is not at.. do you think the Lord would be happy about millions of people praising the Oilers and not him supporting that type of commercialism in your church isn’t OK. It’s OK to be excited about something but do it in your own time not on the church. Seems like you’re just rushing people out every hour like cattle..

Nikki and I attended this Church a few months ago but we've been trying to settling here in Edmonton. Work ended up taking me away from home for over a month in a half and my wife was busy with her new job. So there is a time we don't get Sundays off. I will be honest we did try some other Churches but we had a bunch a RED FLAGS that went up and we really didn't feel the Spirit of God speaking through the Church. We really enjoy listening and watching your message online I was even there this Sunday but my wife wasn't able to make it in, due to work. I believe Nikki and I will continue attending Church her at Hope City and it might be a while before we are comfortable joining a small group, the fact we don't know anyone yet.

My wife, son and I love coming to Hope City! My son (6 yrs old) enjoys the Grade 1 class. He also attended the Elementary Lab Kids program when he was 5. This is separate from the main atrium where the service is held and we look forward to hearing a sermon from Pastor Ken or Pastor Phil. Each month touches on a new topic/segment which draws inspiration from the Bible to help navigate our life's today. It's really really good! The service starts with songs and leads into the service. I'm sure other Churches offer similar programs but Hope City is passionate and loving and it's felt with every visit. If you're reading this thinking about a church for you or your family to call home, you've found it!

I have had experience a well with this "church"...I was going through a very rough time. I was a sick lady even back then. After needing their help a few times I received a call from "the pastor " who called me and told me to not to return to for help again ... he is in a position of power his job is to lead his people, guide and counsel people, welcome new people and help those in need! To talk to a sick woman the way he did is deeply disturbing to me !!! Not only did they turn me a way but also several friends and family of mine who really really needed the help!!! Is the what Jesus would do ?

This is my home church, and I've been coming here my entire life. I can't complain about any of the programs I've been involved in. This church has a nursery for toddlers, Sunday school, Junior High services, and High School services. Sermons are profound yet easy to understand, the staff welcomes newcomers, and there is a place for everyone. I go to The Project, a young adult's service, every Sunday at seven, and they spice things up. It feels like a concert, and they have food or activities afterwards. I would highly recommend this church to anyone.

  • Marian Swan

My sister & I started to attend this church last Nov (2018) & are now going regularly to the 0845 service. The congregation is so friendly. Pastor Phil & Pastor Ken always have outstanding and enjoyable sermons. The music is excellent and a joy to sing along with. It’s now Feb 2019 and I’m so happy Hope City has the Online Website. It is wonderful that now I can watch the services on line when some times it’s just impossible to get to the Church because of weather/circumstances !! Still loving this church!!!

  • Pierre X (Mizoupadda)

Everyone at hope city is so positive and joyful. If you have questions the pastors are great to talk to and very understanding. The messages they give apply to your life. I attend the project occasionally and it always feels like the message is for me whether it is an area in my life I notice I need to work on or a habit I need to break. Hope city also holds Alpha courses that will be running in september I believe. I will be attending to learn more about christianity as it is still very new to me.

  • Country Watcher

Great place for worship and good messages. I felt that the ambience is not that great mostly i felt like I am participating in a music competition or attending a concert. I belive we need to make sure the beliveres feels welcomed at the same time we need to ensure that we attend the service with Reverence to God ..Unfortunately most of them in the stage was acting and presented like a band performers. But the message from the preachers are really great experience and heart touching .

  • Lisa Reimer

God Almighty you reign on high and shall be glorified beyond measure God you are definitely in this place!!! Thank you Father, Bless all people here. Pastor Phil had an amazing message again, Glory to God Almighty alone Thank you Pastor Phil and all my friends here at Millwoods Assembly, I have been gone quite a while. God has done so many amazing things for me. Now he has brought me back home again. Love and prayers Lisa Reimer.

These churches of today are an extremely far cry from what they were thirty years ago. Man is the influence -- not the Holy Spirit. What exists today is nothing but a watered down New Age hybrid that serves a Neon Jesus where there's no real conduct, no real order and no real doctrine being preached. The PAOC of today is but a pale echo of its former self from thirty years ago. Even the music in these churches today is nothing short of being simply horrid.

  • Jen Clarke

We love Hope City and have called it our home church for the past 10+ years. It is a big church which is nice because you can always meet new people. We find volunteering and small groups the best way to meet more people. If you are looking for a new home church, we would love to have you. Pastor Phil and team have a heart for Jesus and people. Christmas is just around the corner and the Christmas Eve service is always a blessing. <3

Thank you for bringing me closer to God. At Engage in January, I had my first experience where I felt God speak to me. It was the most amazing, intense and emotional experience I have ever had and I will never forget it. I am so thankful to have attended this church and to get to know some amazing people. I look forward to continuing once we are able to again.

  • Sam Horan,Malik,Payne,Styles,Tomlinson

I live this church, everyone is so welcoming, there's a guest services. You're welcome to any event they host. There's events for all ages. As a teen, this is probably a really good church to make more friends and to be connected to God. You don't have to be Christian to go to the church and go to their events. Which I love, everyone is welcomed.

  • Jehdi Aizon

The place is huge and each service can be filled with as many as a thousand people! I've never seen so much people in one church ever in my life. It could be a little bit overwhelming but the messages in form of series is a very smart way to make the sermons a lot more interesting. The pastors are also very funny and likable.

  • Michelle Wilson

Felt very welcomed the second we walked in the door. An usher took us to the Guest Lounge where we were introduced to other staff members, at which point we received a gift bag. Service was excellent. A good combination of song, prayer and message. Put all together and we feel like we found a new church to attend.

  • Terfa Ahilleh

NO Gospel is preached here, I attended this church for 5 years . Only seeker sensitive surface preaching , prosperity preaching and disco lighting to attract people. It is the job of the chief shepherd to know this , not members going to speak with him about it. Watered down and shallow preaching .

  • richard bittley

Excellent place to worship.. Great atmosphere.. Very friendly volunteers.. Pastors all very good speakers.. Pastor Phil exceptionally well spoken and passionate about building a strong Christian following at MWA. Musicians and singers awesome.. Highly recommend.. Definitely 5 stars!

Incredible, no pressure atmosphere. You can easily slip in and out, or connect through many different ways (ex. small groups, volunteering etc) Messages are inspiring. Phil and his team do a great job making a large church feel connected.

  • Abeeku Kilson

This church helped once I was starting to come back to God again. God led me to a different church now. It's probably still the same as I remember it, but for young people 18-30, especially if youre single, you will probably have a hard

  • M DV

Nice church but impossible to get a spot for single parents night to get help with haircuts and school supplies. Very disappointing. They used to be more understanding and try to squeeze families in based on their situation but not now.

  • Jerry Haukedal

I have attended MWA for 7 years. During that time I have experienced the church's love for the community and the marginalized. Whatever ministry God has called them to get involved with, they do it with love, integrity and excellence.
