They were disrespectful, they lied, and they profiled me based on my appearance, which they had assumed upon my entrance at the facility. They also refused to serve me because of my age, but I've leased from same location before with no issues. The second time around, the first clerk scanned my driver's licence on his computer and concluded that they don't rent to anybody under the age of 21. He then looked to his coworker for confirmation, and that day he turned me away. I had an emergency and needed to find a workaround. I would have suggested it the first time, but it was really unappealing this time. I had to go to the website and look at the age minimum, which stated that most Hertz facilities in Canada and the United States rent to those aged 20 and up, and then return with that information. I returned, and the second clerk, who was quite unpleasant, gave me an attitude and took my information again, claiming he'd see what he could do but simply entered all of my information with no problems. The second clerk also gave all of his attention to the other customer and ignored my presence, as if I were a crum or someone who was lower than the others, handed me the key, and told me to leave... keep in mind that the first clerk had said that the computer wouldn't let me rent because of my age, but the second clerk with attitude just punched in my information and allowed me to rent.. I didn't understand why they were refusing me when I had made a reservation ahead of time and they were getting paid. I was aware of the additional charge for those under the age of 20.

Today Ottawa was recovering from a tornado and consequent power outage. I had to return a car and there was only one gas station operating in the entire city due to the lack of power (i drove around from one closed station to another despite there not being operating traffic lights either). finally found one (I think the only one operating in the city, Rideau & King Edward) and managed to almost completely fill up the tank before the pump went dry (because, of course, it was the only operating gas station and it was bound to go out of gas). I went to return the car. The clerk charged as if 1/8 of the deposit was empty (despite the fact that it was much less what remained to fill up the tank) because they had no means to measure how much was needed and that was the minimum they could enter in the computer, and of course they charged me the gas as if it was just any day and I had failed to fill up the tank (could have charged me as if i bought the regular price they offer..., for example). I've filed a complaint, if anything because I don't think the way they charged me was legal (they didn't measure how much gas was needed and that is what the rental contract stated). I don't much care about the money, but the fact that they charged me for 1/8 of the tank (how can that be!) and couldn't really be understanding about the whole situation, in a day like today!..., this was my last time here.

I had booked a car 10 days prior to yesterday, in order to drop off my brother at the airport in Montreal. It wasn't the first time i rent with Hertz, and I never had a problem in the past. However, yesterday around 10am, the customer service rep took a quick look at my driver's license and said "sir you have a G2, you're not getting a car today". I was surprised because i never had an issue with Hertz and i rented multiple times with them in the past. I explained that I needed to be in Montreal in 6 hours and that i never had a problem in the past. She did not care nor did she even try to look as if she was helping. She kept on telling me "you're not getting a car today". I politely asked to speak to a manager, there was no one available. I left incredibly disappointed and thankfully managed to find a car quickly with another company. Unfortunately, I will never be renting with Hertz again, as I did not feel that i was treated with respect nor listened to. Also, I would like to point out that all the other rental companies were willing to rent me a car without a problem, even with a G2 and I never heard of this policy before, nor was it mentioned anywhere on the website as I was making my reservation, which is incredibly misleading. Hopefully my message will help future Hertz customers and not let them go through what i went through.

I have no issue with Hertz but the location on York street in Ottawa is horrible. The manager Betty was rude. Wasnt willing to work with me. I had a small car reserved but she called me to tell me there were no small cars left but I could upgrade for 10 bucks Is that not suppose to be complimentary? I had no choice. I get there and I hear them offering everyone complimentary upgrades??? So why did I have to pay. They was she talked and demands her employees is u ethical and degrading. The gentleman named Musa was so nice and welcoming and basically did all the work while she sat on her cell and ate. I had to sit there and wait for a car listening to her tell so many ppl they are short on vehicles and then tell another person there is a 3 day limit yet whispered to him he can have it longer dont worry. Just absolutely an awful experience. Never will I go to that location again. I returned the car to Bank street and the guy was amazing and helpful and will get my business again

I had a hard time renting a car because the lady manager was super racist and got all the reasons to block my credit card, it had my initials rather my name (I have three first names). She didn't wanna hear my clear story, and was just jumping to every reason to decline my rental. I never had a problem renting cars or hotels with the credit card. After 45 mins finally got to call the bank and identify myself as the holder after the lady went on her lunch break. however Mousa the sales rep was on the contrary, very welcoming, finalizing my rental and sympotheizing with the situation. I can't believe this woman is the manager there, even fast food joints have better customer service than her.

Avoid at all cost. Was given a car that smelt of urine. I mean something or somebody urinated on both front seats. Clearly 2 years of pandemic and what most would consider a warranted concern for health and safety, did not prevent the Dollar/hertz from handing the key to a car that had not been cleaned. Not only that but once it was brought to the attention of the employee who handed me the keys to that car and then his manager, they proceeded to gaslighting me. Don’t waste your money by going to this location. Absolutely atrocious customer service with no regard for health and safety even during or after a pandemic!

If there was a zero, I would be giving it. I ended up with a $200+ extra on my receipt because of mileage. When I had reserved over the phone I had specified I needed unlimited km on the rental. Very unhelpful and since this is a privately own Hertz, they easily don't mind ripping you off. I rent numerous vehicles every year and a Gold Member with Hertz. This would be the last time I'll be renting from this location (My second time using this location). Let this be a warning to others for the hidden charges which this location tries to stick to you. You are better off at other Hertz locations or other competitors.

Terrible. I have rented many times from this place because it is close to my business. Most of the staff are friendly except for the Manager, who is usually the one working. They make you sign for "no damage" before you even see the car. Inevitably there is damage and they pretend they did not know. If you miss something, when you bring it back they will try to charge you for it. This has happened to me and several coworkers. It even happened to me twice on the same car! They'll do anything to scam you.

Friendly staff, great prices and fast! We were in and out within 15mins. This is my second time renting from Hertz, first time at this location, and I will continue to look up Hertz first. Reading the bad reviews make me shake my head. 1. Dont sign off on a car if you haven't inspected it yourself. 2. If you don't want to park the car on the street over night, pay for the car until they are open so you can park in the garage.

No issues with car, only issues with staff. When asking for directions to a popular local attraction, the lady had no idea how to get there. When we asked for a map, she said she was out and didn't offer any more help. They indicated gas stations were all over but we didn't see one and as such, returned the car after only 20 miles and they seemed rather negative we didn't fill it up.

After having some trouble with the return of my rental because I was unaware of the change in store hours because of the long weekend, Betty was professional and handled the problem. Will definitely be renting again from Hertz on York street. (Only thing that I felt a bit uncomfortable with was leaving the car parked in public parking and dropping the keys off in the dropbox)

Be careful, they won't rent to you with a G2. I had called Hertz ahead of time and they assured me that it wouldn't be a problem as long as you're over 25. Apparently since this location is a franchise they have different rules. They don't indicate this anywhere when you make a booking. Left us stranded. Thankfully the Enterprise down the road still had cars available.

I feel like I was scammed, the lady that received my car was saying that the tank was not full even though another employee was saying it was, so she basically said they were going to charge me for any gas they could put in the tank later on. The only thing good about this place is the location, I never felt so insulted in my life.

This was my second time renting here, they are more than accomodating and really go above and beyond if there is an issue with their service. I have rentals booked the next two weekends and it will continue to be my go to rental place. Special shout out to the staff member who assisted me after I left something in the car.

The advantage of renting here is they're open on Sunday. Otherwise go to Enterprise for good service. Staff at Hertz don't do a walk around with customers and don't offer much service. The clerk even refused to drive the car into the garage when I asked her to do so. I rent here when I feel I have no other choice.

I decided to take the Manager's Special at Hertz 30 York and was pleasantly surprised, when I explained to Ali why I need the one day rental: I got a GMC Terrain which helped us do the tasks requiring a fair amount of cargo space (Costco and Ikea). Kudos to Hertz for putting the needs of the customer first.

I made a booking online and they made me pay 2 times the assurance coverage, it double me the price of the rental, very disapointing. They are not so polite to custumers. Drop off not very convenient since you have to park on the street near to the office in a crowded area. To avoid !

If you're five minutes late returning the car they will charge you for another day. Their cars are usually pretty dirty and can be full of pet hair. The staff can be pretty rude as well (although not all the time). Convenient location is the only good thing I have to say so far.

I had a very bad experience with this Hertz. I booked a car and when I tried to take it, they told me my credit cards could not be used. I have a Visa Premier, this is unbelievable. They just let me without any solution. Very bad experience. I will never go to Hertz again

I went here to get a car on the long weekend and it was extremely easy and fast. I was in and out in 5 mins and had the car with a full tank of gas. You can easily return the car at any time in their underground garage, which was fantastic. I would recommend going here

Starting Janurary 2019, you have to have a full G to rent a vehicle. Otherwise good service, nice selection of automobiles. I suggest you reserve your car ahead of time. They put a hold on you credit card depending on the car, the bigger the car, the bigger the hold.

Everything was fine until I returned the car. Even though I had filled the tank 5 mins before returning the vehicle, the lady at the counter tried to charge me because the tank wasn't full (which it absolutely was). Likely won't rent from this location again.

booked through priceline. never ask, told,show price for optional insurance but charged me $56 extra. Total$86.79 later.I rent 1 day drive to airport only 12km, i have own insurance, if I need I can buy from priceline for only $11. what's the logic?

Great service every time. Only thing is that late night drop. You park on York st, drop the keys off in the Dropbox, walking off and only hoping the car is there as you left it next morning for hertz attendants to close out the renal contract.

They do not answer their phone at this location. It always goes to voicemail then you are on hold "#1 in the queue" until you give up. Cars are low quality Chevy or Hyundai. Prices are low but I guess you get what you pay for

Check your car thoroughly before taking it out, they do not check them as we were forced to pay for a scratch we know FOR A FACT did not happen in our hands. Will look elsewhere to rent in the future.

There is no easy way to drop the car keys overnight. You are supposed to park somewhere on York, but you might be ticketed. Service was also pretty bad.
