Update: 3 weeks later the owner called me to tell me that this was a dishonest and unfair review, it was not. Frankly we kept talking over one another because after being told my review was dishonest he wouldn’t let me explain and just got upset with me for not handling it the same day. I took time to think about this and phrase it as nicely as I could, and then let them know about my review the same day, so to me that’s not waiting, I left a review after I calmed down and didn’t expect a refund. He didn’t ask me what happened/to explain, he called and just started telling me I was wrong, I was wrong or lied about the fan and he would take me to wear he bought the fan… that’s not appropriate as a business owner. I’m sorry I’m not the best at conflict, I’ll get upset quickly, so I left a calm and composed review of what happened the following MORNING, not even 24 hours later. I’ll be calling them to let them know I’ve changed my mind, I don’t want a refund or a gift certificate, I want people to know what could happen when they go. I told him that not everyone is going to have a good experience, that’s all the happened here - August 11th, 2023 Update: I called to tell them i was leaving it up and was told he was calling a lawyer, so that’s this business. Overall, not very impressed. I did 3 services and only was happy with 1: I enjoyed the facial, was very unhappy with the mani and pedi. Great price, not happy with the service. I would save your money or just go for the facial and literally do your nails at home. I went yesterday for a 10:30 appointment and left at 2 with my fingers still sticky and those were the first item done. They took over an hour only to leave with polish on my skin on left hand, my thumb with a big hole she 'tried to fix', bubbling on both middle and ring finger of my left hand. I was given a fan for my nails at the very end to try and dry the thumb she put her nail through and it was a regular fan that didn't dry anything despite sitting there for an extra 10 minutes after all three services. Everything used was things you could get from the store, a OPI base coat, color (that was expired or at minimum separated/old) and a top coat. No special light, nothing extra to make them long lasting or even chip less, it was the same as doing them at home. Again they were done at the start and were still not dry over 3 hours later. This is a let down especially when I was getting these done for a wedding and I redid them a few hours later because they were that bad. My toes I liked at first when I saw them in the basement however she was rough at the cuticle and I mentioned when it hurt. I looked last night because its STILL sore on my right big toe and you can see there's dried blood... cause she cut my skin. There's a gap where she cut me, I left with blue nail polish on the skin around my nails on both feet. None of the tools came out of new packaging nor where they cleaned in front of me, I wasn't given any sandals to get from the chair to the facial table so I had to walk on slippery cleaned, lotioned feet on a dirty ground and almost slipped a few times. No one mentioned that the person I would be with would be primarily French, I can't speak a lot of French and she couldn't speak a lot of English so we couldn't really communicate which isn't a problem but it would be nice to let someone know that. These services require communication and I couldn't ask anything, she couldn't/didn't explain anything... it was a very awkward and not a very comfortable to sit in silence for 3.5 hours and now I'm stuck with toes I had to clean up, a toe I hope doesn't get an infection and I had to redo my nails because after being painted for 3 hours, I wasn't able to drive home with them without them being further messed up... I'd like to add: I paid, I tipped and I didn't say anything when I left because I thought I was being too harsh and everything I've looked at them its just been something else that looks bad or something else that was messed up and this morning I decided I wanted to leave a review.

If I could put a zero or less I would. What a horrible experience. Not only did the woman not know what she was doing but she had the nerve to promise me who was already almost in tears that she could correct the mess that my hair was. After me telling her that I clearly did not want orange color of blonde in my hair she decided to tone it with a gold color. Another woman came up and said no no no don't tone her hair with that so they mixed two on it. My hair came out black and orange and they tried charging me 160$ for it. I was in tears and absolutely devastated as i was leaving for vacation the next day. She repeatedly hit my head with a brush and forcefully brushed my hair out. pulling many many chunks of my fried hair which she fried. and my hair looked like it had cheetah print on it from her lack of knowledge on how to do foils. I cant believe that after me giving pictures and writing the owner a long story. i was still not contacted with an apology. I should not have paid 1 penny for that hair job. this place is absolutely terrible and has horrible customer service!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!

I’m new to Ottawa and wanted to go somewhere that seemed reliable and professional. I went in today and showed my stylist (I believe her name was Valerie) a picture of what I was looking for. I know it is difficult to give people exactly what they want, however I did want my hair to look at least somewhat like the picture. I sat down and told the stylist honestly that I wanted a trim and a FULL colour, not highlights. I said that I wanted my hair to be thinned as it is too thick for me to manage these days, but by thinned I did not mean three layers. I asked for full colour and trim. I left with a head of patchy highlights and three layers. My hair wasn’t even toned after the highlights were put in, which in my past experiences at salons my hair has always been toned to match the blonde that I want. I am showing picture of what I showed the stylist vs what I got. I left the salon just crying my eyes out. Very disappointing after just moving here and wanting to go somewhere I could trust.

I went there entrusting them with my hair. I spent over 2 yrs growing out my hair from shaved to now it was down between my shoulder blades. It is now barely below my shoulders, and the back is very choppy. I paid 150.00 for highlights not done as shown in the picture right from the get go. I have dark brown highlights, I wanted caramel and red instead she put copper and caramel and they were already in when I asked her the colors. I'm very unsatisfied, unhappy, and I am sad as to how much was taken off the middle of the back of my hair and it doesn't blend in with the rest of my hair. Now I have to start over growing out my hair. So done with hairstylists doing their own ideas rather then listening to the customer!! Very nice people, some just need to pay attention to what the customer wants!!

This place was highly recommended to me, but I wasn't expecting just how kind and cheerful everyone was! Bev cut my bangs, and she was so nice and understood exactly what I wanted without much direction!! It's hard getting a haircut with curly hair, but she knew what she was doing! ‍♀️ I also got a manicure with Bouchra, she was amazing! She is so kind and funny and took very good care of my hands. I've gotten my nails done at other places, and it always felt rushed or that they were only paying half attention to what they were doing but not Bouchra, her full attention was on her work and I'm grateful because it turned out soo beautiful!!! She's still learning English, but with a little patience, you can have a very nice conversation with a wonderful person!!

Did not have the greatest experience here. I am new to Ottawa and was looking for a decent salon but nothing too expensive. I wanted a nice fresh cut for my angled bob styled hair. The woman who cut my hair was nice enough but didn't seem to be up to date with hair trends. My layers were cut too short so my hair puffs out on the sides. When the haircut was done she didn't brush off the excess hair around my neck so when I got home there were little bits of hair down my shirt. She also only blow dried my hair for a minute and let me leave with wet hair. I know it wasn't a super expensive cut but even a First Choice would blow dry my hair after a wash and cut.

This is the first time I have been to Hair World, I have been looking for a good barber and I think I have found one. I was referred to Hair World by my wife, she has always had good experiences here and finally convinced me to try the place out. The new location on Maitland is convenient with plenty of free parking. The place is kept very clean, the stylists are very professional and care about their clients. Adam was my stylist and I would recommend him highly, he took his time, he listened to what I was looking for in a haircut. I am extremely happy and will definitely going back for my next haircut. I have to give 5 stars for SANDY. She is the amazing esthetician who offers services such as waxing, facials, manis and pedis at Hair World. I’ve always had lots of brows and never found someone I truly loved but after she did my brows JUST THE WAY I LOVE THEM I knew she was one of the best in Ottawa (I’ve been to many places). Not only is she immaculate at waxing brows but her over all waxing skills are superb. Also, her facials are the reason why I don’t suffer from acne anymore. Go see Sandy, you will not regret it!

When you want great service from true professionals this is the place to go. My daughter's hair was badly damaged they corrected the issue and did the ombre hair style which looked awesome. It took 5 hours it total to do the repairs and style and the owner Adam spent 1 hour after closing to complete the task. Their professional aftercare products were top quality for which we purchased so she can maintain at home. Yes, the do men's cuts to.

Absolutely love Hair World! I’ve been going there for 8 years now and I came in as a walk-in randomly one day due to a previous hair malfunction . Franco is the best hair dresser I’ve been to. He truly cares about the client, he listens to your requests and keeps your hair strong and healthy. I will not go anywhere else because of him. I had a haircut today with Cathy. She was absolutely wonderful. I have curly hair, and all the hairdressers I've gone to before I've known personally. Right from the start she gave me her opinion(which I asked for!) on what would and wouldn't work with curly hair. I absolutely love the haircut! It's everything I wanted today. I will definitely be returning for a haircut from Cathy when I can.

It was my first time at hair world. Gloria was professional, kind and knows her onion regarding Afro hair care. I relaxed my natural hair and got a trim. My hair was adequately relaxed without over processing nor under processing. Very neat space and adequate parking. I searched for so long to find this gem and when I did, my hair was taken good care of. My search is over. Keep it up!

I highly recommend Lidia. I am hoping I spelled her name right. There is one thing that many hair stylist lacks and that is listening skills. Lidia takes the time to understand what you like, do not like about your hair and what look you want to achieve. She is honest, kind and very skilled. Her main goal is help you look and feel your best. I will continue to be her client.

This place is a gong show! Made appointments twice and both times the person my appointment was with wasn't even there. The second time this happened, the receptionist didn't even tell me. Left me sitting there until the owner got involved. Don't waste your time, or money!!

The new girl VALERIE gave me a 3 inch trim for 70$. Scam! Hate her not going back especially not to Valerie and I suggest you don’t either. Absolutely horrible customer service and the cut was horrible as well. Save yourselves your money and time and don’t come here!!!!

First time customer as of today and I assure you, I will be back. I have thick, naturally wavy, long hair and had an amazing cut, color and style by Adam, the owner. Professional, prices are on point (especially for my hair) and great location.

My new go to place. Good prices ...excellent service received from Milly! Large parking lot and wheelchair ramp. The only downside is getting out of parking lot and turning left...very busy corner with vehicles turning in all directions...
