First off, I never had any issues with the customer service at the counter (I've never received any at home services). Friendly staff, quick turn around, and the place is easy to get too in the heart of Ottawa, especially for those who don't drive. Secondly, based off the negative review below. Sure, the place is a little pricier, if you compare it to services like Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire. To which your keys are bound to work maybe 50% of the time, gambling on your luck. Thirdly, about the lady behind the counter. If your insensitive judgmental a** took a moment to ask her about her hands and arms, you'd be informed it's not bed bugs, but psoriasis and eczema. Which she's currently in treatment for. It's got nothing to do with hygiene.

Walked-in on a Friday afternoon 1hr before closing to replace a strike plate that required some custom work because the builder took short cuts. The owner, Raymond, and his staff were friendly and professional in helping me resolve the issue on the spot. Prior to letting me leave with the strike plate, Raymond performed a quality check and took out some filing tool to remove any slight imperfections. This speaks volume to the standard and quality of work you'd receive from this shop. It is rare to see a job done right (i.e., perfect) these days. I highly recommend Girard's Lock & Key.

I was a regular customer of 15 years. Our office was broken into and I had to beg them to come the same day to secure the broken lock provisionally. Over the next three days I called three times to arrange for a permanent solution. The response I received was: "I don't know if we can get to you today." I gave up and called another locksmith, who arrived within 20 minutes and corrected the problem definitively. I wish I could assign zero stars.

I was traveling from out of town and needed a special key cut so went to Girard's lock service. This small company redefines what it means to be customer focused. The specific key that I was looking required a significant amount of checking and effort but they were only happy to help find a solution. I would HIGHLY recommend this locksmith to anybody who appreciates quality work, great customer service and all at a very reasonable price. Mike

We literally don't go anywhere else to buy locks or copy keys. These guys helped us out once when we were in a tough spot and we were so grateful they've been our go to ever since! Their prices for keys are excellent, they have a wide selection of locks and we've never bought one that failed or had other problems. And everyone working the counter is so attentive and friendly! Highly HIGHLY recommend, from five years of personal experience.

The service was good at the counter was great. But the home service was poor , at best. The service man was able to access my house, but he was unable to cut me a set of keys or remove the lock due to not having the proper tool. I called to reschedule but he never returned. I'm now in the position of having to replace the lock. I hope that they'll be able to remedy this as they seem to be good people. Ill call again and post a follow up.

Simply the worst locksmith service in town. You have to wait for hours for the team to show up even if you made an appointment weeks in advance. The technician had no idea what he was doing. He took off and did not bother to tell me he was gone for the afternoon, could not comprehend how many keys needed to be cut. Changed locks and did not give me the master. A job that should take 3 hours took 2 full days.

Stopped by yesterday to get some keys cut. Was very friendly, and they cut my keys faster then I've ever seen someone cut keys. It was impressive, I think I spent a total of 4 minutes in the store, and someone was at the counter when I walked in. Keys work perfectly. Probably will never go anywhere else for keys again.

I called because I needed to have a lock re-keyed. I spoke to someone tremendous who said if I came right in I could have it done while I waited. I was there within half an hour. Everything was done really seriously well. The prices are excellent and the service is great and people are a treat to deal with

Amazing service and people willing to help if you got a problem I brought my truck in missing the key for the tool box and they were able to make up a new one in a flash the service quality and staff were great I'd recommend this for all you keys locks and locksmithing needs

Great service every time!! Always a smile when you walk through the door. Lady at the counter is always willing to help with any issues. I use Girard's for commercial and residential lock and keys a minimum 10 times a year personally and would recommend them to everyone.

Went in to replace a 60$ American Lock pad lock which had broken this winter. The staff told me that my lock could be repaired for about 15$. In about 5min they fixed my lock good as new. Wonderful service. Fantastic price. A great local business.

Can only speak for walk-in service, but I was very satisfied by the service and advice that I received when I was in the shop. Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. Very reasonable price for service. Highly recommended.

Nice young talented lady locksmith been there for a long time. Went in there a few weeks ago, she recognized me after a few years. You just don't see that kind of service anymore. One of the top businesses in Vanier , I'm sure.

Just to cut a regular key they charge more than double of other places, and the young lady and the counter had her arms cover with bedbugs bites and her whole hygiene was very questionable just simply gross.

Service is always top notch. Their stock is extentsive. I've had several keys cut at Girard's that others don't stock or cannot cut. Very inexpensive rekeying if locks. Highly recommend!
