Staff are very nice. Had the bottomless mussels & tried all three sauces. I like the Provencale best & most balanced as personally I found the cream & white wine sauce difficult to properly enjoy since it didn't stick on the mussels so you have to deep dive into the mussel pot (tasty but probably would have shined more if we had added bread but I didn't feel like sourdough) & the Thai red curry got too salty if you only had that sauce for several bites (but it does stick well to the mussels) - so best to alternate between that one & the Provencale. Dad & I finished off 4 pots between us & 2 plates of chips. Personally found the chips too hard/over cooked, should have let the wait staff know after the 1st plate but thought the 2nd might come out differently. Like put your fork in one & breaks in half too crunchy & you couldn't enjoy any soft potato inside. So yeah, let the waitstaff know your chip preferencr beforehand just in case. We added the grilled broccolini & enjoyed that too.

My my wife and myself and our daughter and 4 little grand kids under the age of 6, dropped into Garcon above Aldi and Coles at Lane Cove for lunch a few days back, and sitting outside over looking the grass watching the kids buzzing around was fairly hectic, but the restaurant staff took it in their stride without any fuss. Sheika who looked after us served us with a big smile and told us not to worry as the kids came and went. We had all day brekkie burgers which were fresh and tasty and the kids had fish and chips meals which were just perfect for them. ( we adults also thought the chips were delicious). Thank you to Garcon staff and Sheika for being friendly and accommodating, Peter.

We recently visited Garçon Restaurant & Cafe at Lane Cove and experienced a mix of delights and concerns. The restaurant exuded a charming French atmosphere, complemented by exceptional service. We enjoyed dishes like the Catalan Mussels Pot, Truffle Chicken Cordon Bleu, and a kid-friendly Fettuccine. The Truffle Chicken Cordon Bleu was a highlight, showcasing the chef's skill with its aromatic flavors and presentation. The mussels' sauce was exceptionally tasty. However, our excitement was dampened by a hygiene issue—several dead cockroaches were near our table, compromising the dining experience. Furthermore, the mussels lacked proper cleaning as most of them still had their beards. Despite the delicious flavors and pleasant ambiance, the hygiene concern significantly impacted our visit. We hope Garçon Restaurant & Cafe addresses these issues promptly to maintain a consistently enjoyable and hygienic dining environment.

I am giving a 2 star, because this is an average of the rating for the last two visits. We are regulars to the restaurant. Recently, I was at the restaurant two weekends in a row. The first weekend, everything was great as I expected. I would give a 4 or 5 star. However, last Saturday's visit was more than a disappointed. I would have given it a zero if I could. We waited over 40 mins for our meals. The food was awful. - The french fries with truffle sauce turns out to be overcooked chips with tomato sauce. - the beef-cheeks were dry and tasteless - the mussels were overcooked, fishy and rubbery - the kids pasta was overcooked, watery and tasteless - the manager kept trying to find excuses for the poor service and quality of food I hope the team step up and bring the restaurant to its previous standard.

Decided to gives garson's at Lane Cove another chance a year later with some friends... Standards in food and service has dropped further. After placing the order for 4 and and infant the food arrived 40 minutes. I ordered the nicoise salad and the seared tuna salad. The nicoise salad had been served on hot plate and been sitting under a heat lamp causing the salad to wilt. The tuna was under portioned and over cooked. To add to the disappointment there was hair in my salad. Which was quickly taken away and just as quickly reappeared infront of me, which leads me to believe that the hair was removed and I was served the same dish. Safe to say that I will not be returning. I do not recommend this restaurant. Don't walk, run away! There are far better establishments in the area.

Lovely setting. Our starters were the stars of the show - baked Brie, and chicken liver parfait. The hubby enjoyed his crab risotto. But my duck confit failed to impress. The service staff were mostly pleasant and attentive. Just a bit puzzled about the SOP for payment with a credit card. The first lady that brought the bill offered to ring the EFTPOS machine to the table, and while we were waiting for her to come back another lady clearing the table said rather sternly that we should pay the bill at the counter. And so one of us did. Just as we were leaving though, the people at the table beside us were settling their bill via the EFTPOS machine brought to their table. How is that for consistency?

I was the regular customer of the Garçon Lane Cove from the day of start. As we live nearby, we walk, shop and enjoy the area and also eat and drink at Garçon. In the afternoon, me and my wife passed by the area and asked the waitress for 4 take away coffee. But, she refused in aggressive and rude manner and said we wont serve take away coffee anymore and she was busy with her phone. that was so funny. I can understand that she is only a waitress and just think about how to do easier job for running away of doing her duties. But if she was the owner of the business as I am, she should know the value of the customers and the result of loosing them as I havent spent even a single dollar there from that day. I gave 5 stars before but I have changed it to 1 star now if it is important for the business owner or manager.

Birthday dinner. Tasting menu - really nice! All the food came out in good time. Was all presented and cooked perfectly - still hot when served. Portions were more than generous (took some home and enjoying for lunch the next day!!) Oysters were divine, cheese souffle melts your mouth, crispy cauliflower salad was tasty, chicken parfait with lemon juice on fresh baguettes was delicious. And that was the starters! The snapper with saffron potatoes - i could have had that as a main, the slow cooked lamb was tender and tasty, the mushroom risotto, now a favorite of mine.... We brought our own cake so i will go back for the desserts for sure!! Service was impeccable, prompt, professional and friendly. Definitely try it if you haven't been!!

Amazing food and awesome vibe. Lots of parking in the car park downstairs and the little park area next to the restaurant is buzzing. We can't wait to come back for raclette night and maybe a steak. The croque Monsieur was divine. The perfect amount of cheese, tasty bechamel and generous ham, combines into a heavenly meal. The side salad is tart and refreshing. The "dark breeze" squid ink pasta had decent tasting seafood but was overpowered by the squid ink pasta, it looks pretty, but give it a skip. Chips are huge (can share with 4 people), and the wineal selection is pretty good. I ordered a cappuccino (it didn't have any chocolate sprinkles), but it was a great coffee nonetheless.

Lovely location with easy parking. Good food but the portions are pretty small (it used to be standard) . Staff were polite but Half of our orders were taken incorrectly so there was a bit of back and forth. Garlic bread was burnt (they covered it with prosciutto) and the wagyu burger is palm size. Mussels from the seafood risotto were smaller than half of a pinky. Hopefully the next time it would be better.

Ordered a takeaway bacon and egg roll, it was $12 with a coffee. We asked for an extra egg and no coffee. The worker at the crepe cart put it through and charged us $11. We asked for the bacon to be extra crispy. After 20minutes of waiting for a takeaway roll, it came very sloppy full of oil, 1 egg and undercooked bacon. We showed the staff that took the order and they were shocked and looked at each other with no comment. I told them we won’t be eating from Garçon again and to inform the chef of the horrendous meal they thought would be acceptable to serve…. McDonald’s make a better English muffin for half the price and quarter of the time and is more presentable with a lot less fatty.

We paid $26 for the King Fish sashimi which said that it was 6 pieces on the menu. It came out as 3 small pieces with an extra 4th piece that was about the size of a 10c piece. I mentioned it to the waitress who was nice and apologetic. However, then she went to the kitchen, who said that it balanced out because the other three pieces were bigger. They were tiny as well. So essentially, we paid over $6 for each ridiculously small piece of sashimi. How difficult would it have been to give us a few extra pieces as advertised? The kitchen was rude and dismissive. We spent over 250 on dinner and have been loyal customers. I will not be back.

Nice French inspired restaurant, at The Canopy. We enjoyed everything here. (A bit expensive, but nice!). Food, drinks, and service was all really good. Seating inside and out, (has outdoor heating). Cocktails, wine and beer all available. Toilets are located not far away, and wheelchair accessible to Garcon, isn't a problem either, with no steps. Enjoy your time here.

Sadly I didn’t get an opportunity to take any pictures, however, rest assured, the experience was excellent. The venue itself was bright, vibrant and just had a really welcoming vibe to it. We came here for lunch, was quite busy, though we still were given the option to choose from indoors vs outdoors (service is excellent). Food itself - fantastic. We were surprised with the portion sizes. Quality, fresh and super tasty. We ordered the Truffle Cordon Bleu and the Wagyu Sirloin steak for mains as well as the crepes to share for the table. We walked away from this lunch incredibly happy, full and content. First time at this venue and I would happily go again and recommend to others.

Sorry - the food I ordered was horrendous. I ordered their version of mushroom toast because there were no other options that were going to be suitable for a dairy free coeliac. The mushrooms were terrible, very undercooked, squishy and slimy with no flavour. The only thing that saved this dish was the bacon, but even still, it was very undercooked. Please review the type of mushroom used in this dish and the way it’s cooked, it was sub par.

On 12 December, I booked a table for 3 for New Year's Eve online and got a confirmation via email. Got a call from Garcon over two weeks later, on 29 December, saying that the place was now booked out for a function for NYE, leaving me to scramble for an alternative dinner spot on a difficult day for bookings. Would have been fine if they had not accepted my reservation in the first place, or if they had called me way earlier. Instead, they questioned me about how I managed to make my booking given they had a function planned which obviously I did not know about. Disappointing as I have eaten there several times and quite enjoyed the food.

  • a lee

Service level at Garcon was attentive and very pleasant. Nice decor too! The place was not too busy and we got our food reasonably quick. The liver parfait and baguette was done well. For the mains, the duck confit needed a tad longer time in the confit as it wasn’t falling of the bone. As for the pipis with squid ink fettuccine laced with sambal was a bit of a miss. Bits of broken clam shells was not great and the strong flavour of the chilli in the sambal completely overpowered the subtle flavours of the pipis and ikura. Food standard was therefore mediocre but the service was good for us to have another go next time!

Had lunch here last Saturday, walk in without booking. Quite spacious with inside and outside seating facing kids playground. We ordered the Garcon breakfast, mushroom crepe and Bacon and Egg burger. The food was very tasty and generous portions and reasonably priced. The coffees were good too. Will be returning.

I have been to Garçon twice. One day we managed to get there and order brunch but food was absolutely bland, chicken was dry with absolute no flavour, steak was over cooked and it was served with a bitter salad. Last Saturday we decided to give this place a second chance given that it was recommended by my best friend, Food was exceptional. I had the best duck I’ve had in my life. My boyfriend had the wagyu tartare and it was Incredible but bit too spicy for him, but beef tartare was awesome and packed with flavour. I would definitely recommend only the dinner menu.

  • Jonathan A

Unfortunately, I can't give this establishment 5 stars despite being regulars. We had a group. It took 15 mins to get served. Only one menu for the group. Coffees took time to come out. Then meals came.out in drinks and drabs - a terrible way to serve a group as etiquette dictates people wait until all food is on the table before commencing. I'd recommend NOT being open on a public holiday if you don't have the staff to back the service. Not unreasonable given we were hit with a public holiday surcharge.

Went for lunch on a weekday, ordered Garçon breakfast. Tomatoes were nicely cooked with char and lots of umami (very surprised - never tasted creamy tomato like those before) eggs were cooked to near perfection. Selection of bacon is way too salty probably needs a different supplier but overall very nice. Warm coffee, wait staff were friendly. A bit cold and windy at the restaurant being in May but they give you a blanket if you want one. I would go back again to try other foods.

The most important thing is that I spent $100.2. When I paid the order, I paid $120 in cash, but I was surprised that the leader of the day didn't give me the rest of the change. If you need this change as a tip, at least you should say thank you. On that day, the leader's service was very poor, with a face that wanted to quarrel with others throughout the day, and an expression that did not want to talk to others when asked any questions. This is the store with the worst service attitude I have ever been to. Really bad service. Your staff needs training.

I've now eaten at Garcon twice, and both times I was underwhelmed by the food. Went for lunch and had the burger which was quite bland. Gave it another chance and went for dinner, generally the food was pretty average, there are a few fusion type dishes on the menu which don't quite succeed in terms of balance of flavours, and the duck was unfortunately quite dry. Good service though and convenient parking downstairs.

This was disappointing. The wait staff were not on top of the service and it wasn’t a particularly busy day. There were 4 different occasions where they came to bring items we had not ordered as they moved our tables together (seemingly due to forgetting to reserve our spot even having booked the day before). The food was average and the steaks not cooked as specified (too rare for medium rare ordered). Wouldn’t recommend.

Waited for half an hour for our 2nd food which was just a croque, the table beside us who ordered way later received their multiple orders before us. Then only the waiter noticed we didn't have our 2nd food and I guess they forgot about it. Not quite a good experience, not sure if we'll head back there. It wasn't even peak hour that we're heading into the restaurant.

The food is so overrated. We went for valentines day n the portions were so tiny. The set menu was $89/pp and it was all small portions of share plates. And the dessert we had to share one chocolate mousse which was ridiculous. Honestly very disappointed and will not be returning back. It ruined our valentines day as we dint think it was worth it for the price we paid.

Garcon is located in the same complex as the Coles/Aldi section so it had a 3hr free parking which is nice to have in Lane Cove. They had a good range of food items on the menu. We ordered the truffle chicken but was a little disappointed as there wasn't enough sauce. The chocolate cake however was amazing and highly recommended, although waiters suggested the creme Brulee. The settings in the restaurant was nice. We would likely go back again to try other items on the menu.

My wife and I had a lovely dinner here. The service was fantastic and the food was really good. The chef was also very attentive to us which was a nice touch. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and the area it is in is superb. We had the sharing platter and every dish served was very high standard. Make sure you’re super hungry, it is a big feast. We went for the Bordeaux red which is highly recommended. Great food, great place and great vibe. A real Well done!

Garçon used to be top nudge, not sure what happened. We used to go to the one at Tram-shed and it was awesome … that one at lane cove was disaster. I asked the waitress if they use little marionette coffee and she said yes and it’s my absolute favourite coffee and oh boy the coffee they gave me was probably the worst I had … it’s a shame … desert looked good but lacked elements and flavour. Sad experience. The waitress tho was very nice and friendly.

Great new cafe located in the heart of Lane Cove. Conveniently located and ample of parking space near by. Cafe itself has a great vibe and ambience. Upon arriving the place was busy as and we were acknowledged within 5 minutes. The mocktails we had were light and fruity. The mains especially the braised Lamb is a must have. Our fine evening came to an end with fried ice cream dessert, which was . Will definitely be back again ☺️

Had the pot of mussels which were a decent size (came with two pieces of bread) and tasty. They were understaffed when we lunched - couldn’t make any crepes on the menu and service was quite slow. They also didn’t have enough high chairs so our party were just holding our toddlers and trying to eat while waiting for a high chair to become available.

Don’t dine in a large group here. The staff could hardly keep up and the orders came something like 45 mins after we ordered (we were a group of 12). The coffees were also missing for 45 mins; the food was half cold half warm - things just took too long, and whilst some of the food was great (eg mussels) others just left us with a very sore heart.

I had my anniversary dinner here with my partner and we couldn’t make a better choice. We loved every single dish, from the wagyu tartare and chicken parfait for starters to the delicious duck a l’orange and Moroccan dry aged lamb for mains. We will definitely go back to try the breakfast menu and the famous bottomless brunch!

A huge thank you to the Chef Guillaume, our waiter Maky and the rest of the team for the most amazing date night, the first in ages! We tried the tasting menu, each and every dish was mouth watering perfection! The atmosphere was great as were the cocktails and we enjoyed a great bottle of French wine We could barely walk when we left but will be back to try some of the other dishes.

Food was delicious but service could have been better, was a bit slow, main came out a little cool and had to ask twice for a new fork as the one at the table was dirty. But would highly recommend the lamb between two people. Just enough food so didn’t end up feeling overly full, and the duck fat potatoes were excellent.

I come here regularly as I’m a local. Everyone at Garçon is nice and attentive, some people remember our drinks and the way we like things and that is always appreciated. The food is consistently good and far better than the usual Lane Cove fare! Victoria and Janusz are particularly friendly and they work very hard.

My Bloody Mary may as well have been a tomato juice. No garnish and I could only sort of taste some vodka and chilli down the bottom. Totally disappointing. I think the staff were having a bad day too, they weren't very friendly or accomodating of our requests.

Great French restaurant in Lane Cove. Was very busy around 7pm on Saturday but staff were very attentive and food was great. Ordered the chicken liver parfait and bone marrow for starters, truffle chicken and market fish for mains with a duck fat potato for the sides. With a glass of Riesling as well ended up about $150 for 2 people.

Dined here last night for our wedding anniversary. Had been wanting to go here for a long time. I have so much to say but not enough time. In a nutshell, the evening was a comedy of errors, with poor service, average food and a severe lack of customer service. We won't be back.

We had a booking last night. The food was amazing but we most impressed by lovely staff. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The best service we’ve received in a restaurant. Highly recommend it to everyone specially to families with kids. There’s a playground near the restaurant. Close enough to watch the kids but far enough to not disturb the customers in the restaurant.

We had a lovely dinner with our friends. Four of us tried the tasting menu and had a bottle of champagne. There were good portions of entree, main (gnocchi, salmon and lamb strap), salad as sides and desserts which was sufficient for all of us at a reasonable price. Staff was attentive and friendly.

Could do better. We ordered a main meal - Morocan Lamb to be shared between 2 people. The meal was presented to us within 30 seconds of ordering. Our wine had not arrived even though ordered 10 minutes prior. You go to a Resturant to enjoy a wine and a meal at leisurely pace, not to be raced by a meal that had been prepared before. warmed up in the microwave perhaps ?

Hosted a banquet style lunch for 25 discerning ladies and Garcon proved to be the perfect choice of venue. The food was delicious, abundant and beautifully presented. The staff took all dietary requirements into careful consideration and the service was faultless. We will definitely be back for more functions in the future. Thanks so much to Sam and his team.

Food here was incredible - we had steak, duck and chicken for mains. All courses very delicious and perfectly prepared. First restaurant I've been to in Sydney that gets medium-rare steak right - to a T. Friendly waiters, prompt service - excellent restaurant all round, well done!!

Good environment, family friendly, good table service. But, can improved in term of the taste of the food. The wagyu burger and the pasta, taste can be elevated. Especially the pasta, even though there's seafood but all we can taste is olive oil. And maybe the kids pasta can swap to normal pasta w/tomato sauce instead of squid ink pasta w/ olive oil.

Trendy over-priced cafe with ok food and poor service. We ordered Catalan eggs, chips, chorizo, and crepes. All the dishes were well cooked. Coffee took 20 minutes to arrive and our two coffees came 10 mins apart. They also gave a 3 yo in a highchair a knife to cut crepes.

I had Christmas special lunch set with my cousin. The food was generally high quality and delicious. The staff was friendly, welcoming us. Just one thing that I don't like was the watermelon salad. That should be served cold and fresh but it was room temperature and feeling not fresh enough.

The wagyu burger and the ham and potato gratin were both very mediocre, the burger was dry and was not flavourful at all. The gratin was fine but just basic with not much flavour. The food TOOK AGES to come out after we were told our initial order wasn't available (sold out I think). They also don't accept dine and discover vouchers.

Decent french cuisine, really handy location as the kids play area is right next to it. Money wise some items are well priced, like the all you can eat mussel pot night, we spend about 50 per head, but most of our table were like 6 years old kids.

Beautiful spot in the Canopy. 3 hours free parking means you can go and relax and enjoy your meal. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Lovely food and coffee. Grass area out front idea for kids and there is a playground nearby so you can grab a takeaway coffee from Garçon and enjoy it while they play. Will be back

My colleagues and I often travel to Garcon from various and far parts of Sydney, to enjoy a team lunch. It's a perfect location for us to "meet in the middle". I think we've been a half dozen times. The food is always exceptional - full stop! Lovely outdoor, great service and the parking is a breeze. Highly recommend.

Tasty French food. The chicken cordon blu was great, meat was tender and not dry yet had a nice crumb on the outside. The squid ink pasta with pippies was good, fresh large pippies and nicely seasoned. I'm going to have to take off work early to come on a Wednesday evening for the mussels special sometime soon

Excellent food, lovely staff but being in a bigger table outsides, felt a bit ignored. Had to get their attention a few times just for water refills at the table. Great location, good for bigger groups and with kids. Food was tasty and well cooked, can't fault them on their food!
