I am utterly appalled by my experience at this place. Our first visit turned into a nightmare. I simply disposed of some garbage in the outdoor bin near the shop, and an employee, a young blonde woman, made it her mission to yell at me, rudely insisting that I couldn't throw my trash there. I tried to explain we intended to make a purchase, but she continued her tirade about the garbage. In light of this appalling behavior, we promptly left. I refuse to patronize an establishment that condones such disrespectful treatment. While I understand that every place has rules, I implore you to educate your staff on basic respect. There are countless ways to convey a message without resorting to yelling at someone in a parking lot over a trivial matter that shouldn't have escalated in the first place. Your staff's conduct reflects poorly on your business, and I'm deeply disappointed in my experience here and will not be returning.

Ok, the donuts are good. BUT the service is horrible, we have been regular customers for the whole last two years. My friend went there yesterday to buy donuts as usual but there were no donuts so she decided to stay until the donuts are ready. The woman who is working there came and told her aren’t you going to order something? She told her I am waiting till any donuts are out. The woman talked to her in a very rude way and told her to go out since she is not ordering something now!!! We have bought hundreds of donuts from them and refered then to all of our friends. So, my friend was not staying because she is homeless or something she just wanted donuts because Surprisingly they are a donuts shop! I am shocked of their behavior anf sadly I don‘t think that I will never go there again.

I figure that I should leave a review since I'm here nearly everyday. UNBEATABLE donuts. Nobody ever thinks that the Plain donut could be that good until you've had one from here. Huge selection of donuts for everybody and always baked fresh. Crispy, Sweet, Savory, you got it. If you're not an early riser and can't beat the morning rush, fresh donuts coming out usually peak around 4pm. Besides their donuts, they also have a large variety of desserts (e.g., chocolate croissants, cheesecake, tarts, etc.) that you shouldn't miss out on either. They also have Deli selections like sandwiches, soups, and sausage rolls. Coffee Way is one of Kingston's best kept secrets that students from the University district don't tend to know about. But once they do, they always come back.

I found this place when I was a student in Kingston and now whenever I’m passing by the city I make sure to stop by. Super friendly people, fast service, and great donuts that you can watch them make in the back. Open late too. Also, shame on the people leaving bad reviews because “they’re always sold out” or “the line is too long”. It’s a good product, run by local people, and they’re in the back making donuts nearly 24/7. During the morning rush it might take a bit more time than your standard coffee shop but it’s worth it, both because the product is good and it supports a local business. If you don’t like it, go get frozen donuts from timmies and send your money to Brazil.

Large donuts, pastries, etc. At a reasonable price. They also sell a giant donut that I personally wouldn't recommend one individual to consume all of at once (you could if you want to), but that's definitely not a complaint. Coffee Way is a very low fuss kind of establishment, and let's be honest, that's how you know that it's the food that has kept everyone coming back. It's been a staple in Kingston for a while now, and I highly recommend you make your way slightly out of the downtown core to try it at least once if you enjoy donuts and pastries. Also, ask if there are items in the back. They don't have eclairs on the menu but they do sell those too. Also really big.

Went here in search of good doughnuts and was not disappointed. They are fresh, springy and there are so many flavours. There are fritters, special of the day, sprinkle doughnuts and more. They average around $1.40. In addition there are also other sweet treats such as brownies, strudels, muffins and cookies. There's also a small lunch section for quick bites like bagels with cheese and jamaican beef patties. But the primary reason to go is the sweet section! However, it is evident these doughnuts are popular so you want to make sure to get there as early as possible. The place was clean and the staff friendly.

There is no other donut shop in kingston that even comes close to the quality of these donuts, made from scratch in store daily, these store owners have dedication to their business and customer satisfaction is what makes this business thrive and customers coming back and many new customers on a daily basis. I hope that when they retire they sell the store to someone with the same values that these individuals have. And my dogs get free plain donuts from Sam all the time, they literally drag me there when we get a couple blocks away just for the chance to get a treat. Thanks Sam

This is long overdue, as a customer for many years I cannot thank you enough for your staff, your product and atmosphere. If you are having a good day or a bad one you are welcomed with a smile, an offer to serve you and always a thank you. Today I had the pleasure of visiting at lunch time. The store was packed with energetic youth from Regi', the kids were beyond polite, patient and kind to myself and my 87 year old friend. The staff were efficient and kind as were the kids to them. This entire experience has given me faith in our upcoming youth.

  • j m

Went on a Sunday morning and there wasn't much of a crowd when we got in there, so the staff was able to take care of us right away. Very friendly folks in there, who not only weren't worried about working mother's day, they actually preferred it, as their kids were grown, so when they come home, they have to do nothing! I didn't get a donut, but instead went for the cherry strudel. Good call. It was bursting with flavor and had an amazing crust to it which is the secret to an amazing pastry. I'll definitely be back when I come back up to Kingston.

This place, is to my knowledge is the only family owned coffee shop left in Kingston. Also the only one that still makes their donuts from scratch, in house, fresh daily. The 'special' is a 12 inch donut, that is absolutely the biggest donut I have personally ever seen. The Honey Crueller is pure ambrosia, and I have not had a single donut or fancy here that wasn't the best one I have ever had. Coffee is decent and hot, and there is plenty of seating and the perfect view of local talent 'just being themselves' in the neighborhood.

  • Fatema Zohra

Bought 4 different desserts for four members family of ours. My 3 years old got a brownie. Since she is a kid and might drop it while she eats that brownie, we asked to get a plastic container which came with other three desserts but the cashier/ server refused to give it saying “i cant give that”. I couldn’t understand why a simple container cant be given to a customer which i am pretty sure not even 5 cents. I have nt seen a single restaurant or coffee shop where customers are denied to get a simple disposable food container.

This is what you want Tims to be again but won't ever get again. Come to Coffee Way for an authentic taste of the past where you can relieve the great Canadian dream of fresh baked donuts. Also come to Coffee Way to experience the potent sadness of realizing how the collective habit of supporting massive fast food chains for their cheap prices and convince has caused the erasure of the widely available delicious, high quality, hand-baked goods nationwide. 10/10 would go to Coffee Way again.

Some of the best late night pastry and donuts in town! Have been coming here for 15 years. Staff are friendly and the shop is always clean and homey. Its better to go late night as that is when they are fresh! Perfect for the night owls, night shifters who are craving something sweet or savoury. Cookies are some of the biggest in town and the donuts + pastries are fantastic and fresh! Made in house and you can taste the LOVE! They also have a decent drink selection and sandwiches!

  • Matt Clancey

The best donuts around. Fresh baked, they always seem to be putting out a fresh tray. Didn't try the sandwiches or meal options, but they looked good. The coffee is decent, nothing to brag about but typical for the type of restaurant. Staff is always friendly. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy and there might be some colourful locals hanging out here. The main draw here is donuts, and you won't find better anywhere else. I've gone out of my way on a few occasions to have one.

  • Vic Seo

Best donut place in Kingston! I have tried all the donuts and some of their other pastries. I personally love their Boston cream, Bavarian cream, French cruller and eclairs. The crullers have a cake like texture and the donuts have a light and airy feeling to them. Im pretty picky about fillings and creams, but these guys do it perfectly - not to heavy, not too sweet. The donuts have a homemade, rustic taste and if you want a taste of nostalgia, coffee way is the way to go!

  • r l

Easily the best donuts in Kingston. The owner still works over night to hand make fresh donuts for each morning. Generous sized, real ingredients, and friendly staff. The blueberry fritters are so full of delicious filling, it's amazing. It's the way donuts were made before people forgot and started eating factory mixed frozen donuts! His sausage roles have a mildly spicy minced filling, and are pretty tasty heated up. A classic corner donut shop. It's worth the visit!

  • Brandon Tobin

Almost like some sponsored campaign to try to ruin coffee way. There's lies being spread by some faceless source, Claiming women aren't allowed to work in the kitchen here. It's odd because the hysteria around the lies grew way to quickly with no others claiming similar experiences. Almost like some sponsored campaign to ruin coffee way. The faceless person spreading the lies has concerns with Starbucks unions in the states as well. Doesn't feel honest IMO.

  • A P

Just wondering WHY the donuts are fried in lard with no indication of that anywhere on the menu and my Muslim husband ate one a day before Eid without knowing In what world is a Muslim person supposed to ask if a donut is fried in lard??? How on Earth would they know? Just wondering how many Muslim people and even vegetarians that have eaten this food without realizing their dietary restrictions and religious beliefs have been completely violated.

  • Guesse Kraig

The place might not look like much. Stuck in the early 90s/80s, the places the just look like Cigarettes are to be smoked in here with your coffee and donut. Of course there isn't any smoking allowed. The coffee is good not the greatest, but the donuts are fantastic, a place that still makes it own donuts, not shipped to the store and defrosted. Don't redirect anything fancy, no cronus, or bacon dipped. Just your old staples done really well.

  • Rebecca Mercer

Every now and then a review of Coffee Way crossed my path, so when I finally was in the neighbourhood and saw the place - I grabbed a couple donuts to try. Absolutely outstanding freshness, taste, quality, and selection - I cant wait to try more. We had the pictured chocolate + coconut donut, an apple fritter and a cinnamon twist. The apple fritter was heavenly with good size chunks of real fruit- a must try for any fritter lover!

  • Rylie

My family and I go to coffee way every weekend, but have found lately that it’s just not worth waiting 20 mins in line for the lack of supply of donuts. The donuts are amazing, can’t find them made like this anywhere else but I suggest if you go on a weekend make sure you give yourself half an hour just to wait in line. Seems that the staff prioritize doing other things instead of serving the customers.

  • Brad Turner

Doughnuts here are the best in town. We went into the store to buy two doughnuts (1 double chocolate and 1 strawberry jelly filled) and they were out of the jelly filled ones. The young lady that was working went to the back to see if there were any available. She came out and the guys making the doughnuts made her one special just so she could have the one she wanted! Overall amazing customer service.

  • Michael Popielaty

This place is magical. The most delicious donuts I've ever had! In what's becoming a new tradition of sorts, my buddies and I have now come back to this gem 3 times this summer before weekend camping trips. Great flavours to the donuts. So tender and fluffy and delicate and moist! We eat far too many but it's just great. The staff are friendly and their dry wit and humour make the place feel like home.

  • Ibrahim

I really like this place. I try and stop anytime I'm driving through Kingston. To be perfectly honest, I'm not a huge fan of a lot of their donuts. I'm writing this review because they have the cherry cruillers and that's enough to keep this place open. Tim Hortons needs to bring those back but even then, the best cherry cruillers will always be made at Coffee way. Keep up the great work

  • Josh Roland

Been here about 4 times. Only once did they have donuts available. Was just there 24 April 2021 @ 11am. Blueberry fritters all sold out. This happens all too often. They never make more. I get told to show up earlier. Why do I need to show up early to a donut shop early to get donuts that I want? Brutal. Donuts are great. Just gotta show up at 6am in order to get what you're looking for.

  • Alex Wideman

The best donuts I've had in a long long time - all the way back to my childhood when I would walk to the independently owned bakery on the corner for fresh donuts and cheese buns. Their donuts are freshly baked, moist, soft, a good size and just the right level of sweet (unlike the junk they sell at Tim's). Great selection of flavors and for a great price. Will be stopping in again soon!

  • Shalome Andrade

The BEST donuts I've tried. Nothing too frilly or over the top sweet. But super fresh and soft. Love the honey crueller, very light and airy. The only issue I have is that sometimes I pop by and they don't have any in stock. If you call to find out when they're baking they just say, they're always restocking. Annoying to do a half hour drive to find out they don't have any donuts left.

  • Taylor Szabo

This is one of Kingston's hidden gems. From the outside Coffee Way may look like a simple cafe, it is clearly much more then that. The donuts are made fresh and you can see them making them through the back window. The staff are great and the atmosphere is homey and comfortable. Coffee Way keeps a simple menu, everything on that simple menu is delicious. Also their hours are amazing!

  • Robert Switzer

The plain cruller is my all time favourite donut. They seem to be in limited supply though so you may want to go there early. Update: stopped in after an early Saturday morning event and the spot was slammed with people. But the one person out front was doing an excellent job of keeping the line moving and maintaining good spirit! What could have been a disaster was far from it.

  • Caleb Belrose

The donuts were above average, but probably more expensive than they should be. The cashier needs more training as she doesn't actually talk to the customers like a human being, just takes orders like a robot. She set the filthy debit machine down on our box of donuts showing that she doesn't understand hygiene either. As long as she's trained to take payments I guess, right?

  • Sarah-Chasity Johnson

I was told to check this place out and I really didn't pay mind to it as I'm not a donut eater usually. But oh my God... Flashback to 1996 at Robin's Donuts in London, Ontario when artists lived off cigarettes. Coffee and walnut crunches were all I lived off of. These donuts were so fresh they melted in your mouth. Thank you YGK for the nostalgia and a new sweet spot

  • Kristine Vaughan

Always love coffee way, they have a variety of sandwiches and other new lunch items (newer items I can't speak for as I haven't tried them), hands down the best donuts in town, daily fresh baked deliciousness! One item you won't find on the counter any more but have to have is the exclairs, these i used to make a special trip at 2am just to get the freshest..... yummm!

Just passing through Kingston and needed a coffee....ended up with our coffees AND a dozen donuts....WOW!! Talk about FRESH!! The "filled" ones especially are UNBELIEVABLE ....not too sweet either. So nice to support a local business that's been around for (approx?) 40 years. ....and the best part? 2 fantastic tasting coffees and a dozen fresh donuts - only 18 bux!

  • C mc

I live in New Brunswick and since my daughter is attending Queens in Kingston, I visit there about every 3 months. Coffee Way is a mandatory stop when I am in Kingston. They offer the best donuts around with the quality and service of a traditional donut shop is something that’s getting harder to find. I give this place a 100% rating!

  • Max Howe

Best place between Toronto and Montreal for fresh coffee, sweets, baked goods, sandwiches, and more. I don't want to admit how often I come to coffee way for their cheesecake and hot chocolate. Wish I could give them a 6 star review! Their prices are unbeatable and most of their staff are super friendly. True Kingston gem right here.

  • S. Foley

Hands down. The best donuts my family and I have ever had. Super soft and fluffy dough and glazed just the perfect amount. Fresh and made from scratch. This place is over an hour from away from us, we came across it after a Google search for a bakery in Kingston. Worth driving back to Kingston just for the donuts. …

  • Nancy J

Best doughnuts ever! They are made on site every day. These are in high demand with locals, so go in the morning when the stock is high, or the selection may be low, especially by mid to late afternoon. They have massive treats as well for massive appetites. You will love these doughnuts! So fresh, variable, and addictive!

  • Sunita Tanna

The donuts are AMAZING! They are made fresh in-house and absolutely delicious. Make sure you come early or late at night for a full selection because they sell out quick. I don't live in Kingston but I always make a trip to Coffee Way anytime I'm visiting and bring home a box for my family. Definitely worth the visit!

  • Haillee Salandy

If I could give this a 0 star rating, I would. My friend was turned down for an INTERVIEW, because they are a women. The person who was going to conduct the interview said “oh, I didn’t realize you were a women. This is a man’s job. You have to lift things.” They were then told to leave. This is highly unacceptable.

  • Jessica O

It has truly been tough to find another place that can compete with these donuts. They are unmatched, melt in your mouth, amazing-ness. This place changed what my life-long favourite donut flavour is due to having a cherry crueller that could bring tears to your eyes. Hot tip: they also have some killer carrot cake.

  • Rhett Fester

Really enjoyed our doughnuts. We had a maple dip, Boston cream, chocolate glazed, coconut, cruller, and walnut chocolate cruller. All delicious. One note is that the walnut chocolate cruller is what I would call a walnut crunch. It's a cake doughnut. Not the light texture of a cruller. It was a pleasant surprise.

  • Shelley Green

My family was introduced to this donut shop a couple years ago and it is now our favorite. When we take these donuts to others they immediately ask where we got them because they are SO GOOD!!! Now they are all going here for their donuts. One of the best if not the best donut places in Kingston in our books.

  • Holly H

Coffee Way‘s donuts are always delicious, no matter what time of the day you visit (but if you want variety, make sure to get there early). Great prices considering their superior quality to chain coffee shops. Personally, I‘m not a huge fan of their coffee, but the baked goods are worth a trip on their own.

  • Topher Ellis

The sweet smell of donuts from the outside brought me in, but the taste did not match the smell, the donuts were very greasy and heavy. Also most of the donuts were sold out so perhaps they sat there for a while and were not as fresh as they could have been. Will try another time, perhaps earlier in the day.

Donuts are the best ever. Service is awesome. Prices are very fair. Mostly everything is great tasting. But... Some sandwiches are not the greatest. I don't know why anyone bothers putting one leaf of lettuce on a pre-made sandwich - it just turns to rubbery waste so one star docked for that..

  • 23Seamonster23

Skip the bougie overpriced donut shops and head straight to this one. Not sure how long they've been in business for but it seems like a long time. The baker was making donuts as I was buying them and they were flying off the shelves you know they're fresh. Very reasonable. Highly recommend

My girlfriend and I come to Kingston often and the first stop is always the donut shop. The white powdered blueberry and honey cruller donut are absolutely delicious. Getting some more before we leave today. So what if i have white powder all over my face when eating them... just yummy lol

  • Lauri O

The best donuts I’ve ever had! We are new to the area and were welcomed so so warmly by the Coffee Way staff! I can safely say each donut we tried was absolutely heavenly. What I love most about it is the heart of this place- it’s a high quality, affordable, delicious experience!

  • Anthony Kaduck

Stop here just once and you will remember what doughnuts were supposed to taste like before you know who converted to frozen products. Enjoy forbidden fruit that the corporate masters of Tim's deleted: Dutchies, Walnut Crunch, Cherry Crunch, etc. The cinnamon buns are excellent.

  • Suzanne Green

I decided to grab a dozen donuts today and a couple of croissant sandwiches. Donuts are great as usual. But I opened up the sandwich to put some mustard on and it has two slices of cooked ham and half of a cheese slice. Man so not worth the money I paid today. Very disappointed!

I come here too often. But no regrets- I haven't been able to eat donuts made anywhere else in town. Very tasty - as you remember from your childhood- and very reasonably priced. Go now- don't delay. Still an amazing place to get donuts. Even after all the post-covid changes.

Like everyone says, these are life-changing donuts. They're the best version of classic donuts – you won't find any wacky, crazy flavours but everything here is outstanding. The cherry crueller is a must-have, and I never order donuts like that from anywhere else.

  • Allysa C

Amazing donuts, amazing selection, great prices. This is the one store that has kept the old style diner feel and the old style diner prices. You can get sandwiches, chili, and soup as well as a large variety of pastries - savory and sweet. Would recommend.

The interior decor has that nice 90s feel. I can honestly say that this place is amazing. Coffee tastes great, lots of selections of different food items. Can't complain about the sausage rolls tho, they're to die for. Their donuts are fresh.

It's just not fair to the other donut shops. These are proper old-school, eat 'til it hurts donuts. Fresh, excellent taste and texture, and the coffee would wake the dead. Good times, looking forward to our next trip to Kingston!

There's probably already a ton of reviews about the donuts, so I'm just here to confirm: Yes, they are amazing. Worth every penny, and then some for the great service. A must stop in the morning for the freshly baked goods.

Really great donuts. The toasted coconut is absolutely delicious. Boston cream is on point although the filling is more vanilla pudding than custard. Still, totally worth stopping in here. Best donuts I've had in ages.

Best donut I've had in years. The coffee was nice and hot. The sour cream glazed donut I ate was fresh and tasty. Like so, so tasty. Do yourself a favor and go here the next time you have a craving for a sweet treat.

Cheap and delicious diner style donuts. Their special of the day was gigantic honey glazed donuts! I don't recommend the jam filled ones as they are too cake-y, but the apple fritters were tasty!

So the coffee was amazing, the donuts were delicious… but the sandwich was wet and left some to be desired… it flopped around like a sad fish… opening the sandwich revealed how WET it was …

Used to be an awesome place great environment untill the owner let go the best worker there!! It used to be 5 star but since Sam was caned the place is falling apart & going down hill fast!!!!

Yum! Yum! Yum! Will be a favourite place. Hubby said even the decaf( though instant ) was actually good. And the donut.. Got two boxes to drop off in Pembroke/ Petawawa tomorrow. That Good!

OMG Didn't know I was missing this in my trips to Kingston now its a must. Nothing like a mom and pop donut shop. Their classic honey dip is almost as big as my head and super fresh!

AMAZING baked goods (not as good as my wife but...;)) And when Those doughnuts are fresh outta the oven. Country style, Timmies, and McDonald’s can't come even close to comparing.

Donuts are so good, we will be back when we visit Kingston again. I think the french crueller was my favourite but they were all very good. Service left alot to be desired though.

Best donuts i’ve ever had. Classics you can’t get anywhere else, like the blueberry fritter and cherry cruller. Reasonable open hours and even open some holidays. Love this place

Coffee way has the best donuts in town we stopped in to grab some when we were driving by and will definitely be going back for more haven't had a chance to try anything else yet

Picked up a 6 pack of donuts tonight, super super yummy!!! I've been going here for years but tonight they tasted extra delicious. Definitely got the freshest batch possible! Lol

Donuts were good but the service was bad...the young lady was a bit odd and not very nice. Took longer than usual just to get served and pay... The old lady however was amazing.

This place has some of the largest baked goods I've ever seen! Recommend the cookies, sausage rolls and/or fritters, but due to the size, you've got to go in there hungry! ;-)

So nice to enjoy a Home Town Old Style non Franchise Coffee Shoppe. They actually have Jamaican Patties, Sausage Rolls, Big Donuts and Bagels for all TASTES. …

  • Mike Hill

Absolutely love the donuts here. They are made the old school way and taste amazing. Especially love the Sour Cream Cruller; Walnut Chocolate Cruller, and Walnut Cruller

  • John Byrtus

Great donuts, a little bit of a shame they're no longer open 24h but it's understandable. Absolutely fantastic donuts. No other way to put it. At a great price as well.

  • Zinnia Atanacio

Big sized donuts! The flavours are great additions to the classic crueller. I couldn’t decide which one is my favourite because everything that we got was so delicious.

  • Maher Jebara

Good legit donuts made directly in the bag not frozen. Really good selection and cheaper prices. The cookies were not the best though so I would stick with the donuts

  • Eugene Kim

They had nice donuts, better than tim Hortons. I liked the Fritters, jelly donuts, French cruller but many of the better options were sold out by noon so come early.
