my wife and Me had a light lunch at this restaurant today. we ordered few dishes according to the menu. when we came to paid the bill after lunch at the cashier. we were told the prices on the menu are old ones by the cashier for the first time. We were left no choice but to pay as we were in a hurry. The way this restaurant doing business is misleading or even cunning with customers. The waitress should have told us the changes before we ordered or updated the prices on the menu. That's a complete RIF-OFF!!!

What makes dining at this Chinese restaurant such an authentic experience? Is it the spacious floorplan? Check. Is it the big tables covered with overflowing tablecloths? Check. Is it the fish tanks with green murky water lining one side of the wall? Check. Is it the humongous dishes enough to feed two people per dish? Check. Is it the friendly and efficient server who tried her best to accommodate us? Check. Or is it the random handwritten specials posters hanging the walls? Check. This restaurant certainty made me relive the dining experience I've had as a child in China. We ordered our food off the lunch specials menu and each dish was enough to feed two grown men.

Never knew there's a chiu chou restaurant in the area so decided to try out on my birthday. As a Chiu Chou person I can endorse a few dishes are truelly authentic 潮州菜. The pork stomach pepper soup was absolutely a taste of home. Shredded chicken was surprisingly good. Oyster cake was not bad but needed more potato flour mixture with thr oyster. Steamed burramundi not so impressive though as the sauce was really sweet which is not common in Canto or Chiu Chou cuisines. Overall I really like this place and would definitely come back whenever my stomach feels homesick

Love the food! Staff are friendly but some may not speak English very well which was not an issue for me because the food was so delicious, so good, so wholesome! Service was great and food was served faster than I expected. My friend told me this place has been around for many years. Now I know why they have been in business for so long and still so busy! We have gone back many times in the past couple of months for both eat in and takeaway. Still in love with the place!

Not bad Chinese food. The soup that we bought was flavourful and peppery. The scallops were steamed well and paired well with the soy sauce and scallions. The Peking pork ribs were tender and quite large. The sauce was sweet. The green beans were crunchy and had good wok-hei flavour. The steamed fish was fine too. The meat was soft and flakey and also paired well with the soy sauce and the scallions. However, the service was a bit lacking. Though they were kind there weren’t enough to serve the restaurant. The tables were also dirty.

Definitely a hidden gem, visited here 3 times in one month and happy with every dish I tried. Tip for those who don't read Chinese: the best and more authentic dishes are not on the main menu but the small pink and orange hand written specials on the table.

Great value Cantonese and Chiu Chou dishes especially during lunch hours. We had congee, fried rice, the signature hand shredded free range chicken and a few other dishes all cooked to perfection. Seafood dishes including steamed fish and lobster/crab with noodles are first class too. Prices are very competitive and portions generous. Mr. Chiu the boss is as friendly as they come. Will definitely be back!

This is my most favourite Chinese restaurant. Good service, Excellent chef. ALL dishes are beautiful, and usually large in size. Most dishes are accompanied with some vegetables. I like the steamed fish in Chiu Chou style, the vegetarian dish 羅漢素會, duck slices, crab or lobster in ginger and shallot, Tofu, eggwhite with seafood dish海棠豆腐, ......... During dinner time, each table receives free hot soup before meal, fruit and deserts after meal. This is also a good place to go for lunch.

It's Sunday night so I understand the restaurant is fully packed. There were about 4 staff and sadly quite a few dishes were not available. For those we could get, it was way too salty. The price is good, though I don't think I will go there again.

recommend the dishes are the 甜酸雙面黃 (sweet and sour deep fry noodles), 潮州粥 (chiu choi congee). these two are rare dishes not I can find in a standard chinese restaurant. There are other rare chiu chou dishes too but i was so full. boss is the nice and friendly he’s the guy who take orders. ample parking underground and at front. probably book in advance for holiday season.

Service: 4 Food: 4 Price: 4 Setting: 3 I have been coming to this restaurant for close to 20 years and I believe this speaks volumes about the positive experience I continue to have with this restaurant. The boss is lovely and never fails to care for his customers. The quality of the food is better than average and in many ways this place delivers beyond expectations.

Good cooking in established restaurant with mainly Cantonese dishes. However being a small restaurant it faces difficulties with small staff numbers, keeping prices reasonable. But small staff do admirable job. Can be congested, suits many local Asian diners.

Home style provincial cooking. Interesting but a bit plain. Very popular with local Chinese diners. I personally abhor viewing dieing fish struggling in cloudy water waiting to be cooked in an adjacent fish tank. Surely we are past this now. How tasty can they be full of stress hormones and dirty water?

Very glad with the quality of food and service. Good value for money. More important it taste authentic and delicious. My favourite dishes are braised duck with tofu, Soy King Prawn, Shredded Chicken, and many more. They even give free dessert soup after meal. Overall cleanliness is good.

My first time in my life to have the 2 colours garlic pork. Ones are refried from the leftover and ones are fried just now. Taste is ok. But the refried ones are quite dry compared with the fresh ones.

Would NEVER eat here again ordered a combination chow mein and special fried rice and spring rolls what a ripof at $42.60 Worst combination chow mein ive ever had 1 prawn and only 4 bits of meat rest was filled with noodles. Absolute ripoff and tasted terrible. AVOID THIS PLACE

  • Jonathan Ng

Wonderful place for chiuchau (chaozhou) Chinese cuisine. The owner was very welcoming and the food was very nice for reasonable prices. If I lived closer I would definitely visit more often. The restaurant has been operating for many years and looks good. Very authentic food.

  • Kitty H (themangopudding)

Our local Chinese restaurant. We like the simple dishes, the fancier ones are OK. Takeaway is great. Way better than the Chinese restaurant upstairs. Favourite dish is probably the Chiang Kong pork. Sometimes the quality dips, not sure if a different chef is in occasionally.

Very nice lunch take away special including drink and prawn chips. Delicious beef satay very tender meat with fried rice. (Could have had a little extra suppliments in fried rice as was egg and rice only, still very tasty) Very friendly fast service. Very enjoyable meal.

  • matthew carroll

I ordered rice noodle with beef and egg but instead I got meat from a 100 year old frog and plastic egg glazed in a weird off-putting sauce that looked like whale semen which seemed to be 99% salt. Would recommend to all my friends that have type 2 diabetes.

  • Michael O'Donnell

Always reliable food here. Pippies and Soft Shelled Crab were delicious tonight. Attentive service in fairly plain surroundings but the food is always spectacular. Lots of Asian families in the restaurant attests to its better than suburban Chinese standard.

  • Witchdoc

Ordered the 4 person $178 set. Crab noodle was decent, crab a bit on the smaller end. Jade fish, soup, and chicken was good. Pork soso. Table was quite cramped between two other tables. Service was a bit slow, it took them quite a while just to bring us tea.

Well established Chinese Guangdong (Chao Zhou city) food - owner's welcome and speedy service were good. However the taste was average and foods lacked colour and vibrance.

OMG the WORST Chinese food ever!. Ordered the sauteed seasonal vegetables for $22 and got soggy, oily bok choy ONLY. No other vegetables at all and no flavour, just oil. Flavourless and a huge waste of money. Be warned! First and last time ever!

  • Alex Loo

Complimentary soup is authentic Cantonese way, love it very much (though sometimes they just add water and salt when there are many customers). Chickens are great. Overall price is reasonable. This is actually my usual dinner place.

Been our Family restaurant for years till we moved. Great for families gathering. Above average seafood quality. Really value for money. But if you are looking for special gourmet, this may not be where you should go.

  • Jessica Li

We found the food valued for money. The decor very dated and restaurant lighting was very flurasant bright. Menu was a little confusing, we just not sure what to order. I think they need to keep the menu simpler .

Food is subpar at best, and portions are small. You can taste that most of the proteins have been frozen because the meat is just bland and cold when served. There are better places in the area.

Great value for what you pay. 4 stars for lunch...2 stars for dinner. The chef makes simple dishes well. Ie noodles and congee. Large portions also. But seafood at night....dont go near it.

  • Hayley Lam

Surprisingly good Chinese restaurant. Big menu, some specialty dish and quick service. Not too busy on a rainy saturday. Delicious and affordable, feels like a good place for big groups.

  • Janet Fong

Good value, very good food from the lunch menu. Do not order everything at once, if you have a large group, ask them to bring out only a few dishes at a time, and a gap in between.

  • SHAO Wei

Overall good taste as always. Try to stick with traditional dishes and avoid newly introduced ones.
