I recently purchased a 20 punch pass for boxing sessions at the Chappelle location and I must say, while the workouts were undeniably fantastic, the overall experience has left me utterly disappointed and frustrated. I shelled out over $300 for this pass, only to be met with a shocking and unprofessional turn of events. Out of the blue, the Chappelle location abruptly closed its doors, leaving its loyal customers like myself in the dark. What's truly infuriating is the complete lack of communication or effort on their part to inform their clients about this unexpected closure. No emails, no calls, absolutely nothing. It's as if they vanished into thin air, along with my hard-earned money. In an attempt to seek answers and reclaim what I paid for, I've sent numerous emails and made countless phone calls to their supposed customer service. Regrettably, all of my attempts have gone unanswered. It's not just a disappointment; it's a downright scam. It's fraud, plain and simple. This level of disregard for their customers is utterly unacceptable. I can't fathom how a business can think it's okay to operate this way. It's beyond unprofessional; it's a breach of trust. People invest their time, money, and commitment into businesses like this, and in return, they get silence and abandonment. My advice to anyone considering supporting this business: don't. Save yourself the frustration, the disappointment, and the hard-earned money that they seem more than willing to take without providing the promised services. This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth, and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone else. In conclusion, the workouts might be incredible, but that's no excuse for such a horrendous lack of accountability and customer care. Stay far away from this establishment unless you want to be scammed and left in the dark. I would be more than happy to change my review once I receive my money back. However, until then, I stand by my words and caution others to steer clear of this establishment.

Champs offers a variety of classes. Their 3 main ones include K.O. Classic (a combination of rhythmic boxing plyometric-hiit style workout where you each have your own punching bag and are guided by an instructor throughout the whole 50min workout), Bag Drill Burn (60 min technical and drill based boxing class that'll breakdown the proper techniques in boxing), Bootcamp (a 60 min workout featuring body weight exercises with interval training, strength training, & circuit training). They also have one on one private classes available if that's your jam. When you purchase their passes(drop ins, monthly passes etc), you can use them towards the 3 main classes. They aren't renting their boxing gloves due to the current health restrictions, so bring your own pair of boxing gloves! Handwraps are a must for classes, so if you don't have a set, when you buy the first timers package, handwraps are included in that. I highly recommend the K.O. Classic if you are wanting to get a good full body sweat while incorporating boxing into it. It's good for beginners, no experience required. Let the instructor know if it's your first time and they'll help you. Your personal punching bags are all spaced apart from everyone else and they do a full clean in between classes. Masks are mandatory when coming in but once you're in your punching bag space, masks can come off. If you get the chance of having Xanthinna as your instructor, she is an inspirational amazing person who will make you feel at ease!

Really nice studio and top notch changerooms. Main comment is it is a bit pretentious. Once in a while you run across gyms where instructors believe no one can not be tired after their class or that you have to pace yourself to the just survive. It is a bit of a bad attitude I think. Been twice with different instructors both were the same. The classes are honestly a bit easy and the bags are like butter. It doesn't even feel like you are hitting anything. I think it is a great workout if you want a place to go but not if you want to push yourself. I just a bit choked after the workout that the instructor asked me to hold back so many times. It was just too easy...i think the bar may be set a bit low. Every person can be pushed to a point they tire out. Lots of tough gyms and tough trainers out there. It would be nice if you guys had a few heavy bags. Even just a couple. The belly bags with Mexican wraps are like hitting a pool noodle.

For a first-time experience, I definitely got a good sweat. The space has a nice open layout, and the change rooms are clean and well-equipped. The class atmosphere was energizing, especially the music, and the instructor's cueing and coaching was on point. My only major criticism is it wasn't a particularly welcoming experience. Aside from being shown how to put on the straps, it didn't seem like they had very much interest in showing me around, or asking me about my experience. For a premium private studio, I expect a little bit more in terms of customer service. Coming from a fitness background, I was able to catch on pretty quickly, but for other first-timers, it can be intimidating and deter them from going back. If you're looking to try something new and get a quick, challenging, and focused workout, Champs is a decent option—as long as you're willing to pay the premium.

I loved this place so much because their work outs are fun and challenging, the music is great and it’s enjoyable with friends. Their customer service is extremely lacking though, I purchased a pack of 10 passes prior to COVID, I used 2 of them and have since moved away from edmonton due to covid (I was a university student there but no longer have classes in Edmonton). I sent them multiple emails and dmed them on Instagram and they ignored all emails and my Instagram message as well (I can see they read the message). This is extremely unprofessional to provide 0 response and essentially force me to lose money. If they refunded me the remaining passes I’d happily visit champs when I’m back in town but now I have 8 passes that I likely won’t use and can’t even transfer to a friend.

  • Tracey

I echo everyone who was done dirty by the Chappelle studio’s sneaky closing. I enjoyed the few classes I went to enough to shell out hundreds for a punch pass, and then the Chappelle location closed abruptly and without warning. No emails sent or any chances given to use up my pass. I’ve spent the last four months trying to talk to someone in charge about a refund on the remaining classes on the pass as the downtown location is much too far, and I keep receiving promises that someone will call me and nobody ever does. What a scam. I wanted to love this place but it’s terribly run. Don’t waste your money on a membership or a punch pass because you never know what might happen. All they see is dollar signs, not customers or clients.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Today was their official grand opening day and I absolutely loved the class. For group class, you get your own punching bag and they add some core workout too. Group class room is very spacious and super cool with the lighting! You will need to purcahse wraps for our hands & can borrow their in-house gloves (colour red) but there is variety of selection on boxing gloves (Black, White, Blue & Pink) that you can purchase. Their class schedules are available on MINDBODY app. Amazing place, with amazing motivators/instructors; I am excited to go to more classes!

  • Amy Marie Collins

I can't say enough nice things about this place. All the instructors are knowledgeable and great. The classes are amazing. Its a great workout mentally and psychically. You learn proper technique. The prices are fair for what you get. Their website describes the classes, the prices and also if you want to know about their crew, you can learn about them there. I recommend signing up for the classes online a head of time. They will teach you how to wrap your hands. They have showers, lockers and washrooms. Customer service is on point at this place! Give it a try!!!

  • Will Lumsden

Workouts are great. All the classes are very approachable to all skill levels of boxing. The KO classes are 50 minutes of HIIT and go by very quickly. Be warned you will be drenched in sweat and have very tired arms by the end of your first class! Bag drill and pad classes are a little more technical, but still very approachable. Gloves are provided for all classes and you will need hand wraps (provided with some intro packages). Changing rooms are clean and towels are provided. All the staff are super friendly. Looking forward to my next classes!

  • Krystal Way

I've unfortunately had the same experience as Masuma. I loved my weekend boxing class at Chappelle. Then one morning I went to class and saw a sign posted that they were closing as of Aug 13 (that's the last day I went). No communication to us at all prior to seeing that note. And I have 4 classes left on my punch pass that I will not be able to use now. The downtown location is way too far. Numerous emails send with 0 response. Really poor customer service and no respect for the people who supported their business. Really disappointed in Champs.

  • Karly Bussemakers

I purchased a 20 class punch pass for over $300 for boxing at the Chappelle location. Out of nowhere the location shut down after I only attended 3 classes and left me out over $300. I have sent multiple emails and there has been no communication. I loved these workouts so of course I would support them since it was so close to my house but that is no excuse for lack of accountability for your customers. My advice to anyone is so not support this establishment I know many of us are out our hard earned money that attended the Chappelle location.

Champs Boxing Studio is a relatively new player in Edmonton’s fitness scene, and definitely knows what’s up. We'll say this; it was nerve-wracking going into our first ever boxing class - but this studio and their staff are ready to make you feel comfortable, not to mention kinda badass. The space is modern and cool, from the boxing room, to the ring in the middle of the studio and the instructors enthusiastically teach anyone how to wrap up and throw a punch. We definitely had more fun than we expected, and dare I say we felt like… champions?

  • D B

I don’t get a chance to come here often but I always enjoy the classes when I do! I’ve had 5/6 different instructors lead a class and all are very good. They each have their own style of music so you can get to know who plays your kind of jams and stick with them or explore other options! This is one of the few workouts that I leave drenched in sweat. Hitting a bag for an hour is also a great way to relieve some tension. Highly recommend giving this workout a try!

  • Amon Tiessen

Called and booked in for me and a friend when we arrived it was like who are you and what are you doing here after I already have them my names since they couldn’t find our spot from my friends name . They ended up charging us an extra class each and the hand wraps charge because they could not break my change , we also did not receive and hand wraps I work out at a few gyms in the city but this one by far was the most disappointing

  • Alycia Ho

Finally a boxing studio in Edmonton that you get your own punching bag! The energy is insane. You will get a kickass workout. The duration and intensity is just right. The space is clean and modern. The cold towel at the end of the class is haven. The price point is on the higher side of most workout classes in the city but worth a try. One tip: Buy or bring your own gloves, they do rent it for free but my goodness do they stink!!

  • Christine Matheson

Like so many others, I’ve lost money due to Chapelle location closing and the customer service has been awful. Bought a punch pass, used it once and then Chapelle closed down without any warning or communication. We have tried to contact someone as we can’t get downtown- sent emails, called, have been promised a call back but nothing. We loved going but the actions of their management team have really left a bad taste.

  • Shawna Dirksen

I LOVE this place!! Actually, I’m pretty much addicted! I had never boxed before (and am not always the most coordinated person ), but I let go of any doubt when I tried Dao’s class. Dao gives clear instruction while leading a fun, high-energy and totally bad ass workout! This girl has motivating down to a science! Oh, and if you love 90s-to-now hip hop and r&b, her playlists are !

  • Hailey Damer

Great place to get a solid workout. I go to the KO afternoon classes, they're a mix of hitting bags as well as cardio and muscle workouts. They have a very supportive and enthusiastic environment that pushes you to try your hardest but also appreciates your limitations. I'm also quite paranoid about covid but I've always felt safe working out there, especially in comparison to a traditional gym.

  • Alex Tanasychuk

Very clean, tightly run studio. All the instructors I've had have been awesome - a great mix of cardio and strength workouts, and no judgement on how you pace yourself. The changing rooms, showers, and locker setups are very up to date and are always kept in great order. Really good variety of rates as well based on how you want to register for a class, and the website is clean and easy to use!

  • Vanesa Castillo

Amaziiiing! This place means so much for me, I was not into sports neither into gym, I went to this place once and I couldn't stop going! All the coaches were amazing, the music, the building, the gloves, the bags, the bathrooms. I really recommend to spend your money and time in this amazing place, you will have fun while working out. Thank you Jelena for having this business!

  • AbdulMohsin Babsail

I have been going to champs boxing studio for the last three months. I have loved each and every single session. This location has an atmosphere and a community vibe that is unparalleled. Always feel welcomed, always feel supported and always feel loved at champs . I would really recommend checking this place out for a good physical routine, dance moves and making new friends!

  • Diane Rodriguez

This is honestly my new favourite place. The classes are an awesome workout, the staff are all kind and helpful and the coaches are very encouraging and engaging. I had an unrelated injury and the staff was incredibly helpful in dealing with my situation (special thanks to Mel) . The only thing I’m upset about is that I didn’t come here earlier. I highly recommend this gym!

  • Bianca Maya

I have always wanted to try boxing as a way to change up my fitness routine. Finally doing so I chose to take classes at CHAMPS and I'm HOOKED. The instructors are inviting, friendly and very helpful towards new and experienced boxers. If group classes aren’t your thing, DON’T WORRY, they got you covered with one-on-one training options too. Highly recommend CHAMPS

  • Jessica Jacobs-Mino

Best group workout in the city! I started coming to Champs shortly after it opened and I’ve never looked back. At almost 600 classes under my belt, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been. Coaches are excellent, staff are friendly and accommodating, and classes are as challenging as they are fun. All fitness and experience levels are welcomed with open arms. Highly recommend!

  • salman alqubaisi

Nice experience, environment is friendly, can be competitive if you want. Service 5/5 Intensity of workout 3/5 Value 4/5 The assigned group system was nice as well, if your looking for the best one and instructor Jessica had a nice system “GROUP B BOX HIM OUT” it was fun and I would definitely book again WE ARE FROM THE FAVELA!!

  • Adam Gould

Would give this 6 stars if I could! The facility is modern, clean, bright with the right vibe for motivating people. I did the 50-minute HIIT boxing session where everyone has their own bag. Crazy workout, everyone had fun. Will be stopping in here every time I come to Edmonton! And, where can you get private lessons from the WBC Champ, Jelena! #champs

  • Yeg Gym Review

I ended up going to a group class and I was not disappointed. The trainer guided with wraps before the class, gave great instruction, had high energy, and moved around the class to give hints and to steady swinging bags. Her motivation was a major driver in class performance, and I can honestly say I haven’t sweat that much in a workout ever before.

  • Joy C

Loved the experience!! Full body workout in 50 minutes! I wish there was one closer to me! The staff are awesome. I went for a free trial. They wrap your hands and you can borrow gloves. The change rooms are nice. It has lockers, a boxing rink and a huge room full of punching bags. Go early so you get a spot because the classes get so full!

  • Milliesha Kennedy

I came here after a severe injury and Sabrina was the best coach / instructor. The workout was hard but doable. Classes here are so fun and you leave feeling super strong and motivated. 4 starts because I would love to see the physical studio become more accessible so they could start offering adaptive boxing classes!

  • Nazia Sharfuddin

The best boxing studio/gym/health community I have ever encountered. Wish this existed outside of Edmonton too so I could have the same workout whenever I travelled. Champs is pencilled in permanently in calendar. I plan my life around my boxing sessions. It is my favourite form of exercise and wellness!

  • JLG James

Just done the second 50 mins KO class. I thought my heart was going to explode or thought I was going to vomit on the floor after I left a pile of sweat there. After that I feel like a pile of.. amazing euphoria. I think it's going to be my thing in between shifts in the north. It's kind of addictive.

  • Katy Moore

Love this place...I was intimidated to go at first but everyone is super welcoming and there are people of all fitness levels here. K always leave ridiculously sweaty after a class because they're such effective motivators! Also doing a great job with the covid restrictions, very well organized.

  • Sara Powell

Love it! Everything about it! All the staff i have interacted with are so friendly, the coaches are sweet, really pushing you to be better, the atmosphere of the room is great, you don't feel any pressure from others or the coaches, and its the best workout I've EVER had. I go regularly now!

  • Ric MacDonald

Great way to get your cardio in, lots of fun packed into each session. It is only as difficult as the effort you put in, so it's great for beginners and fitness enthusiasts alike. Super friendly and approachable staff. Very nice facility on top of everything else. Definitely going back.

  • Steven Xie

Just finished my 4th session here and the experience had been wonderful. All the staff are very nice and accommodating. Mackenzie is a great instructor. Motivating, patient, and very helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is interested in getting a fun and cathartic workout.

  • A K

You guys did your Chappelle clients dirty by shutting down with no notice. No texts or emails. I can get to the downtown location but I don't feel I can support your business now with how you've handled this. Do better. Edit: Still no email sent to clients. That's lame.

  • Alex Karen

I just finished my 5th class, and I've already decided to commit to a year of these. Every single coach I've had has been unique and yet all equally fun (though I have my favourites). I don't think I could have found a better place to help fuel my self improvement plan!

  • K derp

First time trying boxing and I was so nervous but the front desk and the trainer are so cool and welcoming. It made me feel very comfortable and motivated! Parking may just be tricky as its a street parking. I bought 5 passes so I'll be coming back next time …

  • Kelty Coburn

Went to one one of their free classes and fell in love with the place! Amazing atmosphere! High energy instructors that get you motivated and working hard. Great music and the nicest change room/bathroom I have ever seen!! 10/10 would recommend trying this place out!

  • Paul Hainsworth

I love this place. Clean, well laid out and incredible staff. I trained with Elyas and he is a real smiling assassin! Inspiring, supportive and happy though it all. I could barely feel my arms at the end but he helped me pushed through. I'll definitely be back.

  • Alicia Fabrizius

One of the best work outs I have done in a long time. Great stress relief as well as a full body work out. Also I love that it is done in low light so that I am not intimidated by the skill level of the others in the class. I highly recommend this to anyone.

  • Kayla m

I did my first class here about a week ago and it was fantastic! The teacher was such high energy and pushed everyone to do their best. Everyone is super nice and the place is very well kept. The bathrooms are very clean and the staff is wonderful!

  • Robin Robertson

Was interested in checking this place out but every time I pass by their vestibule it seems to be full of drug ampoules and used hypodermics and it's just really offputting. Please clean up.

  • Adrian Popescu

it is today, that I realized, how little endurance I have. Booked a session with Brooklyn... wow, what a workout! Facility is really nice, will definitely do it again.
