Disclaimer: I didn't have to pay to go here as I went with work so I don't know if there are prices or anything. But the house itself is beautiful and there is a bathroom you can use (always important if travelling with kids!) and there is parking on Burns Bay Road. There are little notes everywhere explaining the uses of various items and giving flavour text to the rooms. There are lovely gardens and you can look out over the river, or walk down a little forest path to the local park. That involves some steps though, which can be slippery so be careful. There is also a room with lots of items reflecting Australian history, not just the history of the house. The house itself is also very nice just to be in and it's obvious that the caretakers are very passionate about not only history but sharing with others.

This lovely house will always rate 5 stars for me! I made another visit last Sunday with my social group and again was given the most amazing tour and information of the house and the people that have lived in it. The gardens are lovely and you can walk right down to the water and across to a park and oval area for a picnic if you want to. They also can organise a delicious morning tea for group tours which is very inexpensive plus they have quite a few events happening during the year, just check out their website. This was my second visit in 6 months and highly recommend it for anyone.

Little-known gem! We visited after seeing the sign on Burns Bay Rd many times. We arrived on a Saturday morning shortly after opening (11am), paid only $20 for a family, got a long guided tour, and learned a lot about the history of Lane Cove and the house & restoration. There is an lovely landscaped garden sloping down to the water. And the Victorian-era household items are very interesting. It's packed full of curiosities & contraptions. Ample parking off Burns Bay Rd. Definitely recommended for a unique educational visit.

Loved it. The volunteers who meet & greet. Then the volunteers who prepare Devonshire tea. Then the volunteers take you on the tour of the house; not a Grand House but a middle class home which was deserted for many yrs & needed massive restoration and done so well. The knowledge that these ladies shared was brilliant. And ?Ted our carpark attendant. Such a team & such a house!

The resident care taker had us view the historical video of the House. He showed us through the house and garden, pointing out features and details that made the old families' way of life come alive... I'm sure my friend and I heard babies cries in the hall. We were stunned at the discovery on a lazy Saturday afternoon. …

Beautiful and well kept museum that recalls the Australian history and life in the 1880. It definitely worths a visit, just make sure about their schedule first due COVID-19. Make sure to check out for the Devonshire Tea.

Went all the way there as it said on Google maps that it's open, nothing {when we checked on the website} said #Conoravirus effected this place of when it's open. IT'S STILL CLOSED. …
