Worst vet experience ever. Took my dog and her three puppies to get vaccinated and Dr Gary was really careless with them and not affectionate at all. Normally every other vet I’ve been to, they give the dogs lots of cuddles and treats and get them to have a good experience, whereas Dr Gary could not care less about my dogs, he did not show any attention whatsoever, my dog absolutely feared him and got traumatised from the vet, and better yet when vaccinating one of my puppies, he pierced the needle through the skin and out the other side and squirted the vaccine on the table, he didn’t even realise until the nurse told him! Dr Gary also barely communicates anything with you and the one time I asked him a question, “is it okay if my dog gets her C5 and Heartworm vaccine while she’s pregnant?” He responded saying, “it should be fine, I always vaccinate dogs not knowing if they’re pregnant or not and nothings ever happened.” What kind of vet says that? And to top all that off, when I called to ask about how much they charged for getting all the things I wanted done, they said $410, on the day, after I got it all done, they charged me $643!!!! I was so annoyed at everything that had happened that I didn’t even have the energy to hassle with them and just wanted to get away from there as soon as possible. I would not recommend at all! It will only traumatise your pet.

Not even a one star ! a total rip off. Took my dog for a general check up, dental and nail clipping. Gary was not friendly with my dog who is a very friendly dog. He only did a checkup for a few minutes and charged an arm & a leg. My dogs nails were quite long & needed to be clipped and gary just quickly clipped one side and said i wouldn’t bother clipping the back side i had to tell him a few times to do it as they were long and i could see my dog had difficulties in walking. After alot of hesitation & giving me death looks, he started cutting it and made the dog bleed. He didn’t show any empathy after doing this and i was so upset and he put a very little amount of powder to stop the bleed which didn’t stop the bleeding and i asked him for abit more & put it to stop the bleeding. he informed me the dog had hernia with only physically reviewing the dogs and not doing any medical checks which will cost me $3k & a complex operation but he didn’t have time to do it. He didn’t do the full checkup which is what i had booked for. when i asked for the reports so i could make a decision of what to do next, i was informed they don’t give reports. He was also having discomfort with his tooth, which i informed him of but he barely checked it. My dog was constantly crying and i was really not happy with this service.. do not go here!!

I am not happy with this vet at all. It is the second time around I have given my pet cat for a simple surgery there and I only ended up with complications and traumatised pets every time. Simple surgery turned to infection and serious anxiety first time over with one cat few yeats ago, then I decided to give it a chance again just recently for an abscess clean up in my other cat. Broughy my cat home absolutely teriffied, panicked and not eating neither drinking at all for 2 dsys. He also pulled his drain out of the desperation. I have no idea what they did to this cat in the process at the surgery but the effect is poor. I called them to report. The check up visit supposed to be free but they then changed their mind over the phone and decided that they will still charge me. One of the reception stuff, especially the younger one was rather ignorant and lacking empathy. When I came to pick my cat up after the surgery, and I was 15 min too early she rudly infirmed me that I was told not to come early, and that dont I know the discharge time is for a reason. I said I know I am too early and that I could wait, but that was rude and cutting how she approached me. I compleatelly lost trust and wont be coming back there anymore. It feels like it is all about dollars, not the pets health.

Not even worth the one star. I brought my sick cockatiel to Dr Gary Ashton in hopes of getting an explanation for my bird's sudden illness and medicine to cure him. Despite Dr Gary having a degree and experience from 1975, he could not even get my bird out of his cage. He asked for my help in taking my bird out of the cage and then putting him in a bag so that he could weigh him. From what I could see, the vet could not operate the scale correctly, pressing random buttons as my bird sat within the bag, seeking exit. My bird became distressed quickly, from "stress of handling" in Dr Gary's words. Dr Gary then told me that my bird was sick, and possibly had an infection. In his words, my bird "probably" had gastroenteritis. I then asked for the cause of this illness, to which he replied "I have no idea what can cause it." He gave me medicine that would "cure" my bird, which ended up being tablets that I was to crush and mix in water. I'm still not sure if it was the right medicine. My bird died a few days later. Dr Gary Ashton's service did not reflect his qualifications. I do not recommend this vet.

Rubbish Vet named Garry Ashton. a very Arrogant person and does not care about the well being of animals, only his pocket. Very rude to my wife, along with his rubbish secretary, who cannot handle pressure whatsoever. They have charged me an arm & a leg, beating me around the bush with wrong information, along with the wrong medication, & they still didn't know what was wrong with her. They started pushing for extra ongoing procedures, which added up to a small fortune. He then advised me in a very rude manner, that if I can't afford the procedures, that I should have her put down. The secretary then advised me that "she was going to die anyways" & started suggesting naughty foods like chocolate, & burgers, that even an inexperienced person would know that these are toxic to dogs. Very appalled, & disgusted by the wayt I have been treated. I do NOT recommend anyone to visit this "So called vet" PS. She's fine now, the reason all along was, she just needed anti biotics (which I was able to get from ANOTHER, Vet, over the counter, without a vet fee).

Did not correctly diagnose my cat who came in as an emergency. Proceeded to give him 3 different drugs in the span of 2 hours. 2 of which without consulting me. No testing or scanning was done prior to the administration of drugs. One of which could have actually made his issue worse. They took my cat out of the carrier in the waiting area to weigh him despite being told new rooms make him anxious, as he was already struggling to breathe the stress of that increased his breathing struggle to the point he was then panting and drooling When I was called with an update o was told his condition would likely "go south" and asked if it does do I want them to "try to save him" !? Gary was also more concerned about if he would have to work this weekend than about really paying much attention. I took him to Greencross vet in Campbelltown where he was given amazing care. I regret ever having stopped here in the first place.

I took my 14 year old dog in to the vet last week. Although how heartbreaking it was for him to be euthanised, as he had cancer and the time was right for him not to be suffering any longer. This is not my usual vet as i am from Wollongong but as i wanted to bury him at a friends property in Kentlyn. I thought i would take him to a vet in the area. I was so impressed with this vet and also the nurse, they showed an authentic compassion for my dog and also for me, they came out to my car as he was more comfortable their. They were truly beautiful people, whose priority are for the animal and their comfort. I was also surprised as the cost was half the price as i was quoted at another vet in that area. I know money isn't always the issue during times like this, but it helped. The service was excellent. Thank you from my heart so appreciative. Chris

Such a sad drop in standards. Brought my injured cat here many years ago, he was treated with care, affection and compassion by both the vet and lovely reception staff. So this year, when one of our guinea pigs was sick I didn’t hesitate to contact them. What a huge difference in experience. We were treated with indifference and as though we were a burden, except for one very kind young woman. The vet didn’t know what was wrong, took a guess without offering blood testing or x-ray and prescribed medication. I appreciate the practice doesn’t specialise in treating guinea pigs, however it was a very concerning experience. The veterinary care was lacking and basic at best.

It’s a close community vet , I like it for its services especially for dogs but the staff has really less commitment towards booking and scheduling. I booked my bunny’s appointments three times and every time once we are at the vets , they will say unfortunately two minutes ago the vet has taken off for the day and I have to bring my pet back home , no matter when the appointments are actually booked because each of my appointments are booked at least a month in advance and they don’t even consider if someone has taken off from work to take their pet to vets very disappointing to bring your pets back without any service. Hopefully this will be better in future.

  • nicole mclean

Giving this due to reception staff not actual vet. I called to try and make an appointment for my dog who injured himself last night when I said my dog couldn’t walk and I was trying to get into a vet (my local Vet was not available), I was met with attitude from the girl on the phone, questioning me, how old my dog was, and how long this had been going on - fair question but it was the attitude in which she asked me. I ended up hanging up on her because unfortunately if that is how you allow your reception staff to talk to customers, I can only imagine the care I would receive from the vet

  • caroline mcgeown

My dog had seen a few local veterinarians due to an ear problem. This went on for months with countless visits to the vets. Nothing was ending my poor boys discomfort. One visit here they advised surgery which was done, we were given a care plan. Guidelines on how to care for him after surgery. The surgery with everything included was so much cheaper than I had expected. My boy has never had an issue from that day onwards. I highly recommend the staff here they know there stuff. Most importantly we love our animals they are family members so they deserve the best care.

Recently we had to take our big boy diesel to this practice as he had a very large concerning lump on his throat. Every part of our experience with this practice and the staff was amazing. Staff were caring informative and efficient.the cost for all the treatments was so reasonable. The female vet we had was brilliant and so kind. We were obviously worried and she was so warm. I would and have recommended this practice to my friends and family and would take my dogs back there in the future. Thank you all for the caring job you do. Shaz Wayne and Deisel.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL! I took my dog who had a tooth infection and it was Dr. G. Ashton who tried to examine my pup. She wouldn't let him examine her mouth and kept it tightly shut. The vet only got a small glimpse from the side of her mouth. He then said that he needs to get most of her teeth pulled out as they were deteriorated. I asked if there was an alternative, to which he replied: Either that or euthanised! I asked him how could he even determine that without proper examination! I think money is more important than our beloved pets to him.

We started coming here post covid lockdown in 2020. Our regular vet wouldn’t let my whole family (2 adults and 2 kids) come into the clinic to be with our unwell dog. The team here were amazing. We burdened them with our unwell dog they had never met before. They were very compassionate and let us all spend as much time as we needed with our boy in his last hours. He deserved that. And my kids needed it for Closure. We now take our newest member of the family there, and have nothing but praise for this team.

  • Marie Bull

Dr. Gary was wonderful and seemed very experienced. I have two other pets which I have taken to many different other vets, including Univets Camden and Wakerly Vet in Fairfield and this vet hospital has MUCH more reasonable prices. To my pleasure I spent much less money than I was expecting, and the team here are very professional to top it off. The staff were very accomodating and even let me and my kitten wait inside the room when there were barking dogs in the lobby that was stressing her out. 10/10!

  • sarah caldwell

The staff here are always so lovely and professional. It’s clear that they have passion for what they do. My dog has an issue with her paws being touched and they’re always cautious of it when I mention it. The ladies working here have always done their best to take care of my dog and they give me extra information whenever there’s an issue with her. She’s 6 years old now and we don’t live in Campbelltown anymore but I struggle to find a decent vet elsewhere so it’s worth the drive.

  • Lee Jackson

Saw the male vet as my dog had sore ears…He had no time for me and hardly spoke and sold me some cream…he didn’t tell me that I had to dry and clean the area first…so I wasted half the cream and finally rang back and the girl told me what to do. Excuse was that they were busy that day…happy to take $128 off me though..If you love your pet as much as I do then take them somewhere else..I certainly won’t be going back…This is our third dog and have always gone there…no more though…

  • Leonie Stewart

Have been there with both dogs before but yesterday our small elderly dog was the victim of a large dog attack. Operation 1.5hours trying to save her (which they did). They gave the truth in answer all enquiries in a caring and professional manner. So far the outcome is good and the cost including meds was not as bad as feared. We were also well coached on wound care before we were permitted to take our stitched and battered girl home. Thanks to everyone there.

  • Shine Star Gomez

They left brusing all over her body we could barley pat her without her being uncomfortable or yelping the brusing seen on here neck is on the opposite side to were they were putting the needed this isn't the fist time we have had problems with this vet last time our dog went missing and the people that fond him brought him here and they sent him home with them without getting any contact details of the people

  • Loch

This vet caused an ongoing eye issue with my dog that may leave her blind on the left eye. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT go to this vets if you actually value your pets . Basically my dog had some dirt kicked in her eye. Due to these morons putting her through unnecessary cleansing and overstretching of the eye she’s now looking to be blind on the left eye. DO NOT USE THIS VETS IF YOH VALUE YOUR PETS

  • Nick M

Would not recommend for backyard or pet chickens (which is pretty niche). Didn't seem to have much of idea, put my chook on antibiotics for week, she kept declining. At followup, he said if we wanted to persist we should go somewhere else and that normally he would just autopsy a few birds to be able to treat a commercial flock. Went to another vet but her liver shut down.

  • J L

You go into a room lined with degrees, all telling you this man is a doctor. He takes one look at your senior pet, tells you there's most likely nothing wrong and nothing else, not even further examination. Then sends you on your way with a $100 invoice, knowing full well he had not done his due diligence. What a joke these vets have all become, all greed and no ethics.

  • Denise Erkens

I have taken my pets here since I have moved in the area. It was recommended by my inlaws and they were spot on. Vet is kind, caring and understanding. Also always happy to have a chat and share experiences he's had with his own pets. They are reasonably priced and have the option for vetpay, which makes it easier for large expenses. Definitely recommend.

  • eliassirr

Took our dog to them, could not tell us what's wrong with her, killed her within two days, charged us $4000, without being able to tell us what caused her death and still have the audacity to ask for further 400 dollars. They may appear to care about your pet, but clearly, they do not. Very bad. Do not recommend at all!

  • Arohanui _

Called for the first time today to book my puppies in for vaccinations however had the unfortunate experience of speaking with a very rude Receptionist who apparently doesn't understand what good customer service. I ended the call after telling the Receptionist that I won't be going any further due to her attitude.

  • Rajani Ravikumar

The worst experience we had today we would never ever visit. So rude the reception staff was she chased us out because our dog barked at another one who barked at him first. Waited in the hot sun for an hour and no one called us in for the appointment which was an hour before. Very poor service.

  • Wendy J Berry

The reception area is clean. Reception staff are friendly and welcoming. The veterinarian doctors are very helpful, affiant and knowledgeable. They have been great helping me with my fur baby’s illness. The doctor’s have also called me on my phone at home to discuss Trixi’s condition. …

  • Maree Trad

I would never take my pets anywhere else. Gary knows animals great and small so well. Even before he gets official diagnosis from blood or skin samples he knows what the issue is. The staff here also show so much care and compassion for our furbabies. I wish I could rate 100 out of 10

  • King k

Took my puppy in as he was sick. Dr. Gary didn't answer questions. Gave medication without telling us how many days to administer the dose. He wasn't willing to clarify or answer questions. And just couldn't wait to usher us out. Not recommend for anyone who cares about their pets.

  • Mark Koosache

I have the utmost faith in Gary and his wonderful team. They go above and beyond with their care and compassion. They saved the life of my Chihuahua, when she should have passed. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone that loves their furry family members.

  • Alexandra Munro

Very companionate and helpful. I went twice in a day because I was a mess from my declining pets health. A nurse sat me down talked me through things and helped me understand more. She didn’t even charge me for her time. I would recommend to everyone!

  • Ribal Couri

Good vets but the service is very sub par. Expect to wait 15 to 60+ minutes past your appointment time before you are seen. No notice or call or message about the delays. No apology or care about wasting my time. Terrible and extremely annoying.

  • Eileen Slattery

Not my usual vet but my dogs nail started to bleed when I was visiting family, I called them up and they fit me in and patched her up and gave me great advice on what to try if it happens again. Can't recommend this vet enough. Thanks you guys.

  • Luke Dawson

Our new go to vet. We have found staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean vet hospital. Very fair pricing. We have pet insurance and they accept gap only. Fairly easy to get an appointment when needed. Highly recommend this vet hospital.

  • Paul Robinson

First experience getting my daughters puppy dog vaccinated, I thought this is a great local vet to go too. The vet who vaccinated my daughters puppy dog was great and thorough. Will definately be going again.

  • Judith Blue

went over & beyond at short notice to accommodate & care for my dog when I was hospitalised for 10 days really kind bringing my dog home to me - vets like Chamberlain st Campbelltown there is no better

  • Jazzy Bb

Wouldn’t even give the one star. Dr Gary is more worried about his pocket than the animals in my opinion and the receptionists were just rude (expect for one nice girl) definitely wouldn’t recommend.

  • Ben Brewin

Had two pets neutered on the same day, great communication from Team pre and post operations. Team was very considerate with my requests regarding both pets. Would recommend based on my experience.

  • Mrs Potato Head

Were fantastic with my cats nail clip. My cat was very agitated and anxious. The vet took their time and allowed me to cuddle my boy in while he got clipped. Super polite and very affordable.

  • Steve Harris

I have been going here for years and they are very helpful and professional. They are friendly and caring for all animals and aren't overpriced like many other veterinary practices

  • Skye Kohn
