I had an awful experience at CIBC's Whyte Ave branch, thanks to teller Jeffrey. He was rude, inconsistent, and unhelpful. I had to stand in line twice due to his mistakes. He requested my study permit, which I promptly provided. However, during my second attempt, he inexplicably demanded my registration documents instead, confusing. When I finally retrieved the necessary document and returned, he insisted I stand in line for the third time, a blatant waste of my time and a display of poor customer service. To make matters worse, he was the only teller available, leading to longer waits. When I tried to speak to the manager about the situation, they told me he was busy, come back tomorrow! This incident seriously questions CIBC's commitment to customer service. I'd advise caution when visiting this branch.

I work with a local business, we frequently go to this bank to exchange bills. I went and talked to a teller just like any other time to exchange bills, and she informed me that I needed an account or ID to exchange larger amounts of bills. I've never had this problem before, but I figured policy is policy. After going out and returning with my wallet ready and speaking to a different teller, the new teller didn't even ask me for my ID or anything; she exchanged what I needed and things went just as smooth as any other time. I don't know why the first teller wasted my time, but I'm certainly not going to deal with her again.

Was in the branch making a deposit and there was another customer who just wanted a new debit card and was very polite. Because they were a business customer the bank would not help them and the teller told them to try another branch. The manager refused to help (which i am sure has the knowledge to issue a debit card). The customer asked the bank if they can call the other branches to make sure they have someone available to help them so they do not drive around from branch to branch. The teller said no that's not her job. Very poor service and the fact the manager did nothing to assist the customer makes it even worse.

I had an appointment today for 2:30pm with Remya Anoop. Arrived 10 minutes earlier and waited till 2:40pm until one of the other employees informed me that unfortunately Remya had too leave early and she wasn't there, she offered me if I was willing to wait till she was finished with other clients. I refused and left. I found it very unprofessional that they didn't even have the decency to follow up with me and cancel or reschedule the appointment instead of just not showing up. Obviously I don't have any desire to put my money in this branch and deal with more problems in the future. Thanks for wasting my time.

Thought I would share my positive experience since people always tend to complain on forums like this! Went in on Friday and a client was being so rude to the poor teller. The teller was so respectful to this gal. The manager and staff tried to their best to be understanding to her. Never seen a manager who has been so patient & graceful when dealing with such a rude client. I like banking at this location, amazingly friendly people always welcome you with a smile. And honestly I only bank with CIBC because of the staff & management at this location. Great job!

I opened up my first Chequing Account in Canada with this branch through one of their Financial Service Representative named Remya Anoop. She was readily available and met me at the fixed appointment time. She was very helpful and explained all the benefits of the account in comparison to other options. Ever since, I have loved banking with CIBC and opened up another savings account recently and would recommend it to all my known. The other members of the team present there also always receive you with a smile on their faces.

It would be great if I could give you zero!!! I had a phone appointment with Remya Anoop at 11 am. I didn't hear from her! I sent her two emails but she did not respond. Even after calling the bank, they didn't pick up the phone and it went to the message box! As I check other reviews (I regret not doing that before booking the appointment), it has happened before! That's unacceptable! Maybe your employees get away with not doing their jobs properly, but the rest of us have tight schedules and our time is really valuable!

stay away from this branch - worst customer service and professionalism - a Kanika there booked a meeting with me - and i was coming from out of town - cancelled the meeting when i was half way there - no excuse and no apology - when i arrived she ignored me and knowing i was there did not initiate any contact - never felt more disrespected. Should have looked at the reviews before opening any account.

The staff here are terrible. Indian lady at the counter refused to help me get my new debit card activated and she looked disgusted to be helping me. Other Indian lady walked out from the back and looked me up and down In disgust- probably cause I'm white. I have to go to another bank just to activate my new debit card after getting information on how to do it over the phone.

The staff there were nice enough but it took me 20 minutes online to book an appointment due to language barriers. In addition, I had explained that my CIGs would not be matured until the day after the appointment. He said that did not matter and I could do all paperwork a day earlier - this was not true! I had to go back to the bank on the maturity date as well!

Rude manager, East Indian guy I think one of the managers refuse to give me change on my money to smaller bill after I waited for 15mins in line which I use to do for a couple of months already even I don’t have an account to them, I’m planning to open an account but not anymore. But thanks to the other teller who helped me before.

Sharon was my adviser and she was fantastic. I came in looking for options to build my credit as I had been out of the country for many years. She was really through with explaining my options and extremely helpful. I was honestly surprised with how fast everything worked out. She is a great asset to your bank.

i was sent from whyte to downtown and then downtown said they didn't know why i came to them. when returning to whyte to inquire why i was sent dowtown i was met with hostility and a smug bank manger who literally stated that she was being condescending. wow ridiculous experience and i will not repeat it.

Absolutely awful terrible service. And to top it all off I saw the manager outside after using the services and he was rude and condescending without provocation. Worst workers I have ever dealt with in the city. I will happily spend an extra 30 minutes commuting rather than use this branch. AWFUL.

Atrocious customer service. Waited in line for almost an hour to see a teller and every single person in front of me was receiving terrible service. If you want to stand in line just to be told to call a number that you called yesterday that told you to go to a branch, bank with CIBC.

Please change your closing hours on Thursday to 5PM. Since you say you’re open until 7PM on Thursday’s, but you’re lying on your website and on the phone. You guys were definitely closed at 5PM yesterday, which was really disappointing to find this out.

Still being closed when everything else is the city is open. Taking advantage of this bad time and causing people to crowd around the only 2 open CIBC. CIBC don't care about people they are using this to rip of everyone and put you in more danger.

This branch is mediocre at best. Firstly, there are times, that becaues of some ridiculous bank policy you have to speak to a teller. If you are not ready to wait in line for an hour, because they only have ONE teller, then don't bother

While the staff here is generally helpful, there seems to be staffing issues here. On several occasions I have come in to complete basic banking tasks and have had to wait upwards of 10-15 minutes for the one teller to come available.

They cant seem to understand English and half of them dont know what they're doing beyond the computer. Sometimes people are unable to go to the bank. They need to be more compassionate about people's situations not like robots.

Good and bad things at the same time. Looks unmaintained from outside, but inside we find friendly and helpful agents. The phone calls NEVER go through to anyone, as if nobody ever answers the phone.

it is indicated that the department is open on Thursday until 7 pm. but I arrived at 6:10 and everything was already closed. This is the only day when I can come to a specialist and it doesn't work!

Worst CIBC branch. If you get past the dim fluorescent lights and prison like decor good luck finding someone here who can actually help. They will just tell you to call the number on your card.

Trying to talk to a real person is impossible. Tried phoning and just get a message. Banks are quick to call when they need your money but not very quick to respond when you need someone.
