I can confidently say that it is an impressive institution that offers an exceptional reading and learning experience. The library is named after Reginald J. P. Dawson, a prominent Canadian author, and historian. The library is located in the heart of Mount-Royal and boasts a rich collection of over 100,000 books, periodicals, and multimedia resources in various fields, including literature, history, philosophy, and the arts. What makes the Reginald J. P. Dawson Library truly impressive is its commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive space for all members of the community. The library features a range of services and programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests. It offers free access to computers, Wi-Fi, and other technologies, making it an ideal place for students and researchers to study and work. The library also has a dedicated children's section, complete with age-appropriate books, games, and activities that help children develop a love for reading and learning. The library's staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to assist in finding the resources and providing guidance on research and academic writing. Overall, the Reginald J. P. Dawson Library is a first-class institution that deserves high praise for its commitment to promoting knowledge, learning, and cultural exchange. It is a vital resource for the Mount-Royal community and a testament to the power of libraries to enrich our lives and broaden our horizons.

It’s a great library and nice selection and space. My biggest problem is the way they talked to literally small kids when they are just laughing and playing. They literally got the security guard down to the kids room to pretty much intimidate the kids for being kids. No one was screaming and even if they are, again, there’s toddlers and babies there. Why would you have a kids room when you are going to constantly ask a security guard!!! To ask the kids to whisper their play and read? because staff has not idea how development of kids is. It’s absurd. So upsetting. It’s like being on a plane and ask the kids not to cry because it bothers the adults. It sets ignorant and unrealistic expectations to kids that they are expecting to behave as adults. I have special needs children, my children weren’t there when I saw the security guard and the staff practically harassing toddlers to whisper, but I’m most definitely never bringing my kids because they speak in their regular voice at 3 and I wouldn’t stand security trying to “calm” them down. It’s shameful

Excellent, but in their politeness they excessively down-played a dark chapter in U.S. history: our ten-week occupation of Montreal in 1775... a yr before we declared our freedom from Britain. The Continental Congress sent 2 armies into QC: one failed to seize Quebec City, but the other easily marched into Montreal. The 3rd arm of our invasion was a battle-fleet sent 2 Halifax. Other than that omission i was greatly impressed! {'tho' a U.S. citizen I have never been proud of our ceaseless bullying, & imperialist tendencies}

Very nice library. Modern yet cozy. Great wifi connection. Tons of books, magazines and e-books. Private study/tutoring rooms on the lower floor. Bottom floor is children's section, they have books, toys and storytelling rooms, too. Main floor is for regular books. Top floor is magazines and there are spaces to sit everywhere. Highly recommended.

beautiful library and great kids area downstairs with seasonal decor. lovely art activities, story time, toys, books, bubbles and chalk in the summer etc no area to eat though and some library staff are not very patient with young children while others are very kind. a playground right beside the library adds to the fun.

Nice library, spacious enough. The collection is very decent and well-organised in their computer system so you can everything yourself. Staff is very friendly, enough Anglophone as well so even if your French is not entirely there yet you'll be fine. They lend out toys to kids, so you can relax for a few minutes

Excellent selection in both French and English in all categories. Great air conditioning and heating to get away from the elements. Friendly and helpful bilingual staff. Gendered bathroom, and water fountains on site. They also sell book for $0.25 and have some free poker books too.

I love this library! Staff is really sweet, super helpful! The place is clean and quiet! They have a great selection of books. Someone helped me with the app and I really enjoy it! For anyone who lives in TMR, I definitely recommend!

Great library. We were going here since we were kids, going to Elementary School from grades 3 to 6, so ages approximately 8 to 11, located just about right across. It been great since then, and still iZ, nearly 4 decades later. Z.

Since Blockbuster is RIP and that my ex changed her Netflix password, I come here for my DVDs. They have a great selection of classics and some fairly new stuff too. Oh, btw this place has books as well, but reading is for losers.

Ne fait pas parti du réseau des bibliothèques de Montréal... et c’est 80$ par an pour être membre ! La culture n’est pas pour tout le monde apparement à Ville Mont Royal !

  • Sebastian Victorica

Great place for kids, they usually have activities in every festivity. Downstairs is for kids and upstairs for adults. WiFi provided and the customer service is amazing!
