I have been here 3 times. I have very straight hair that is deceptively thick for straight hair. I like a lot of texture and both short and long layers in my haircut and always want an edgy look, not a "pretty", generic look. I need the super layered haircut to give my hair body, otherwise is lies lank, heavy and super straight because of the weight of my hair. A year or two ago Jade did a great job with this style of haircut, and I was so disappointed when she left. I have had two other haircuts there since with two other people. The second time the haircut was ok, but not exactly what I asked for. But the haircut I just got was NOT what I asked for. I showed the guy a picture, and I don't think he liked the style because he barely looked at it and looked a little horrified that I wanted the haircut. I told him to not be afraid of cutting a lot of layers into my hair. I had to ask him three times to add more layers and texture and told him the techniques hairdressers usually use to cut the layers, but he didn't seem to understand. He told me my hair was too thin for more layers which is absolutely not true! I have had the haircut in the picture I showed him many times before! My hair now looks lank, straight and butchered with terribly cut, uneven layers only at the very bottom of my long hair which is not what I asked for. I was so upset all afternoon and woke up upset this morning. I am very angry that I wasted my time and money and I am going elsewhere to get my hair fixed today. If you want a more basic haircut that isn't edgy and textured they do a good job here. If you want a super textured, layered cut I do not recommend going here, at least with the male hairdressers. I have had better haircuts downstairs at Just Cuts and they are a lot cheaper.

Really horrible experience - went in as a walk in appointment on 22/12/23 12:30pm, hairdresser called Gaz(?) cut my hair. The issues I had were: - there was a big language barrier but I tried to the best of my ability to explain what I wanted (face framing layers) with reference photos - scissors he used were very blunt and resulted in the ends of my hair getting damaged from him forcibly trying to run the scissors through - didn't seem to have experience cutting hair at all, just grabbed random bits and cut straight across with no attempt to blend the different sections - hair is now uneven on both sides and extremely choppy at the back - asked several times for him to fix it but it was getting worse and worse and then got excuses of how it's not possible to get a dry cut (I requested no hair wash) - was asked to come back if I really didn't like it but how could I possibly trust him to fix it for me

Unfortunately won’t be coming here again. I paid $115 for the most uneven haircut I have ever received. I explained that I wanted face framing layers with long layers at the back (even showed a reference photo). The haircut seemed very rushed and all over the place, and the blowdry did not turn out anything like the photo so it was hard to tell in the salon if it was cut how I wanted. It wasn’t until I went home and the blowdry dropped for me to realise my ends were VERY bluntly cut and I had long, uneven pieces at the front and shorter pieces at the back with barely any layering towards the ends. It was almost cut the complete opposite way I had requested? My hair is now so difficult to style and now I have to pay to get it cut again by someone more professional.

Amazing!! Highly recommend. The team here are not only super professional and experienced but also super friendly and genuine. Jen always looks after my hair and helped me to come a long way from damaged streaky hair that was the work of a previous salon I had visited. From there Jen achieved a beautiful, healthy blonde out of my hair and I maintained it for over a year with regular visits to the salon until I decided to do a 180 and today Jen transformed my hair into a gorgeous, rich ginger/copper colour. The team clearly know their stuff and carry a super diverse skillset. ++ Bonus is the affordable prices for amazing quality. I was desperate for a haircut and didn’t have a booking, the lady at the front desk seemed nice but looked a bit annoyed, there was no one in the salon and the staff were doing each others hair, I wanted a cut wash and blow dry.. the wash felt amazing and the staff were nice but seemed too interested in catching up with friends then they were doing their job. I didn’t get the blow dry I asked for and they just did a quick dry, when I got home to finished the job myself I noticed the haircut was very noticeably uneven and nothing what I had asked for. I have now booked in somewhere else to get it fixed.. I don’t think I will ever visit them again.

WOW!! Great experience! At Alchemy hair, they not only do a great job when it comes to cutting, coloring or styling your hair but they more importantly educate about your hair. It's great to have an expert such as Alchemy hair teach you how to achieve this "I just walked out of a salon" look everyday. I cannot count how many times in the past I only loved my hair the day of the visit, and now my hair feels like it visits everyday. If you want the best of the best Alchemy is the place to go! The whole team are so friendly and inviting (Needa, Harry and Daniel just to name a few) and also very accommodating if i ever need to come in to do my hair with my children. Jen takes care of my blonde and always gets it spot on which i am very particular with. My hair is also so much healthier than other hairdressers i have been too in the past. I have been to so many salons over the years and alchemy is hands down the best salon i have been to! The staff here are not only accomodating, but so friendly, welcoming and caring! The attention to detail is immaculate and they always perfect my hair no matter what i have asked for. The keratin treatment is absolutely amazing and holds for so long! I always come out of here happy with my hair- they know what they're talking about, they listen to you & they deliver it so beautifully. I've had trouble trusting hair dressers, but Alchemy has been my go-to for over a year now. Easy bookings, flexible, gret services. I went in 2 weeks ago for a simple wash and blow dry, but even with a 'simple' request, the service was outstanding! I've been getting my hair cut, coloured and styled by Harry for over 5 years now and never been disappointed! His advice and work is second to none! The rest of the team are great too! Today I called at 4:07 and made an appointment at 5 for ‘Wash & Trim’. I arrived at 4:50. At arrival I was told my appointment not recorded, the staff looked unfriendly while offering me to sit and wait. At 5:10, one staff approached me and said no one available to do my hair until 6:15. I left and will never go back.

Went there a few days ago to get a haircut. The staff are extremely helpful and professional. The salon looks neat and clean. The lady who cut my hair listened to my preferences attentively and cut my hair according to my preference. The haircut looked amazing. A big thanks to her! Really satisfied with the service.

Harry is a true Alchemist of hair. I've been going to him for haircuts for several years, but this is the first time I attempted a total reimagining of my colour, which for me was a big deal. Harry listened to my requirements and then did his magic. I am super happy with the look and received several compliments!

Was very nervous about having my hair coloured and decided to try alchemy of hair at Macquarie upon a friend’s recommendation. Jen did such a wonderful job with the colour, and Harry was able to make it work within my budget. Will definitely be coming back!

My blow-dry lasted for days, would definitely go back and recommend to anyone who needs a hair dresser. The workers were very nice and even gave my child a lolly at the end thank you very much to the alchemy of hair team, cant wait for my next experience.

Turned for appointment and made to wait 20 minutes. Wanted colour refused to do it. Asked for layers and was told they won't do it either. Cut it straight across which now it looks flat and without life. Got to the counter and was charged

Dont recommend, they didnt have my booking on the system so waited 30 mins for them to slot me in. They didnt quote me a price in the beginning. The guy I had didnt really listen to what I wanted and gave me a typical shoulder length cut.

Extremely experienced staff and very friendly. Sarah is and excellent business owner and stylist; she is great at recommending her customers the style that will work well for them. Been a customer for over 6 years. Highly recommended.
